Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is an American animated television series based on the 1978 film Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and its 1988 sequel Return of the Killer Tomatoes.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes had a 2 season run as well as a line of action figures and assorted other merchandise along with 3 sequels, including Return of the Killer Tomatoes starring a very young George Clooney.
But how did we get from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, a low budget parody movie in the 1970's to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, a cartoon airing every week on Fox Kids? And how do the Muppet Babies factor in?

Another cool thing, they sold a sewing pattern set, so you could use the pattern to cut out and make your own Killer Tomato costumes for Halloween. My mom when I was kid made me a Zoltan costume that was big and round, and even had a little head piece. And I remember as a kid, waiting on Killer Tomatoes Eat France to hit home video. Video stores had posters up for it, and said it was coming, and then suddenly the posters were gone, and it wasnt coming. It ran into some kind of distribution snafu. I didnt get to see the 4th movie until years later when I randomly found it on VHS somewhere. Also, due to the cancelation, the show ended with the Tomatoes conquering the world and the bad guys winning. That still leaves an impression with me to this very day. It was not how kid me expected the show to end. Will always love Killer Tomatoes.

My favorite of the movies was Killer Tomatoes Eat France. Mostly because it has the best post credits scene ever. Marvel can't even come close to John Astin in his getaway balloon saying he was just in the parking lot stealing your car radio.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes is legitimately a brilliant film (although some of the sex jokes are showing their age). Yes it's dumb and it's cheap, but it knows it and it pokes fun at itself constantly and breaks the fourth wall in hilarious fashion.

Dude there are so many things from that era that have not aged well... It's kind of sad but also understandable... I was going to show something to my step kids the other day (can't remember what rn) and was like... Lemme hold off and rewatch it first before showing the kids.... Didn't even get a chance to go recheck cuz something came up that showcased that no it wasn't kid friendly. May have been the og Ghostbusters come to think of it.

They probably should have made it a weekday series. It depends on how much plots they could have done but it would have been cool to see 65 episodes and then it gets another season and movie for completion.
