Small mistake! By "Looker first appears in Diamond and Pearl" - I meant "The Fourth Generation". We clarify Platinum later in the video, but I wanted to clarify for all of the people leaving comments.

When Looker battles Black in the manga, he goes under a double code name where he enters the tournament as "Lou Carr". It's also a pretty awesome moment where the entire audience is baffled by the Pokémon that he's using and Black's Pokédex can't help him out-- _because Croagunk isn't in the Unova Dex, no one's ever seen one before._

I really like Looker, because he makes the games feel inter-connected, and gives them a background plot you wouldn't expect at first glance from a Pokémon game.

In my head-canon, Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny are just titles of their respective field, named after famous members of that said profession. Like the original Nurse Joy was a skilled Pokémon medic who innovated Pokémon care and the original Officer Jenny was a police officer who brought down a huge criminal empire or thwarted some sorta evil plot.
Why they all sound the same? Idk.

That would be an INSANE plot twist! It would be SO out of character from him, and really shock me!
Especially since I liked him as a character, and liked his theme.
My reaction would go something like:
Me: W-W-WHAT!!?? NO!! Not you Looker!! I trusted you!! I helped you out.......Which I never should have done....
....You're no ace detective......You're just an awful criminal!!

Miror B was the Admin of Team Snagem in Pokemon Colosseum and a side character in XD: Gale of Darkness (the 2 gamecube games). Picture a 70's-Disco-Elton John with a pokeball Afro who would dance with his surprisingly formidable team of Ludicolo to Salsa music. His battle theme from Colosseum was hilariously wierd, while many people loved his soundtrack in XD as well.

He actually did that in the Diamond and Pearl arc in the anime. He had a disguise that looked exactly like himself and he took it off.

The Looker chapter in XY was probably my favorite part of that game. There was so much emotion and intrigue packed into such a short segment. Was legitimately moved with the ending.
5 years later and i just played it, and yes i gotta agree with you. I would love to see Looker and Emma again in the anime or a future game.

What if the "Looker" we know is actually like James Bond, where it is always someone different, but keeps the name like a title. Every single game could be a different Looker, and that would explain how you become Looker in X and Y, where Looker is actually retiring and chooses you as his successor.

The master of disguise? Looker is Robbie Rotten
So he appears first in gen 1 on the S.S.Ann looking for Team Rocket, then again in OR and AS having washed up on shore and lost his memories.
The S.S.Ann, being a ship owned by Giovanni that was intended to lure trainers onto it so their Pokemon could be stolen easily, sank with several trainers and Rocket grunts trapped inside it. (If we're taking the show as canon. Or at least having similar plot lines to the games?) He was on the ship because he was investigating Team Rocket and had suspicions that the "free" tickets being handed out were part of something devious. Looker then survived it's sinking and washed up on shore, but lost his memories from almost drowning. Then the rest happens.

Nick Palumbo That's actually a potentially interesting idea. She shows up in plenty of games as a shopkeeper, not to mention as a random NPC and even a tutorial guide with the explanation being she's a family of clones. There's also the few Jakes and notably different-in-personality Commander Anna in Heroes.

Why tho? There's not much info on her. Sure, she's a unit in Fates, and secret shop owner in the rest, but what else?
Don't forget that she was also a unit in Awakening and also appeared in a Fire Emblem cross over with the Persona series. She is also a high ranking official in the 'Order of Heroes' from the Fire Emblem Heroes mobile game. ...Also, she is the true goddess of RNG.

Every time looker shows up I get a smile on my face. I just recently beat pokemon platinum for the first time. When I saw Looker pop out of a boulder I burst out laughing!

I definitely think there was some major Doctor Who inspiration. In the fifth generation games, there's that place where you can transfer Pokemon from generation 4 to generation 5, and the guy says both "Molto bene" and "Allons-y" which are both catchphrases of The Tenth Doctor. So it seems likely they were thinking about it. And Looker travels across space and time. We don't know his real name, but he just uses a title as his name, just like The Doctor. And "Who am I?" is a famous phrase uttered by the Eighth Doctor after he regenerated in the TV movie. Plus, you know, brown coat, suit, spiky hair.
Looker is one of my favourite pokemon characters, maybe even video game characters!
Him giving you his title was a gaming moment of pride!
Nice video, and great to see this series again! I'll still push for What's up with Starfy. He's one of those characters that exists and most know as an Assist Trophy, but outside of that he's pretty obscure, never even getting a game in Europe. I'd love a video to shed some light on who he is.
I wish if you brought an event Hoopa to Looker in ORAS he would regain his memory as it was Hoopa who caused him to arrive in Hoenn.

Also I reckon it's more likely that he's based on the Doctor rather than the other guy predominately because of his involvement in Time-Space shenanigans, and also because David Tennant's iteration of the Doctor is noted to be one of the most handsome by most fans, thus linking to the fact Looker's code name pertaining to his appearance.

It's quite obvious, is it not? She's fron the universe without mega evolution which is every game gen 1-5. The ultra wormhole is a pathway between the two universes.

Their not 100% canon, more so like what if scenario's and alternate versions of events that went on
They Are Canon. They Just Tell What Other People Were Doing While Not Interacting With The Player. They Are Side-Stories But CANON Side-Stories.
MetaJ 92 Some episodes are canon because they only show facts that happened outside of the player's view, like Blue becoming the Champion, but many other episodes have a lot of mistakes, so they're more like "What If" scenarios.

Looker is kinda cool in how he shows up so often as a recurring character, especially in the games and manga. Thanks for doing this video about him!
You know what is my *dream* JWittz? My dream is that Game Freak brings *Miror B.* (from Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness) to the *main series Pokémon games* (along with his two goon followers) and make him a re-occurring character whether in the main story or post game with a sub-role (and you get to at least fight him once every game) *with Looker being the one designated by the International Police to capture Miror B. and his 2 subordinates* (so he will have 2 roles, one being helping you in the main story, while his secondary role is capture Miror B. in a "cat & mouse" fashion with Miror B. narrowly escaping at the end of each game from Looker to make a re-appearance in the next game).
It's all intended to be a comedy goose chase between Looker and Miror B. along with giving Looker more reasons to re-appear in each game IMO. (Plus I *LOVE* Miror B. and would love for him to become a main series character staple IMO).
P.S: And while at it, give Miror B.'s signature Pokémon, *Ludicolo, a Mega Evolution* too! :D

Quick note: Anabel was also found unconscious on a beach. Looker might have somehow got into the ultra beats space, and lost memories. He might even be in pokemon stars.
I appreciate your not... abasing... Looker. Oftentimes when people start talking about th' dude, it gets all like 'he can't even hide from people with an invisibility cloak on' and that kind of stuff, which completely overlooks the point. We see lots of good moves and lots of bad moves from him, but the bad moves are emphasized because of their rarity. I think this causes a lot of people to think Looker is an idiot. He's not. He's an elite Inter-pol officer and a master of disguise.

Ash only forgot about basic rules once, in BW when the anime was trying to mirror the 5th generation games' "soft reboot" feeling. Besides Pikachu was weakened by Zekrom, it didn't only lose its electricity but got really tired just from trying to use it, making it an easy ko for pretty much anyone.

Looker is one of my favourite characters! I always watch the intro to each Pokemon game before the first play through. I watched it in platinum, saw him and Charon, and got excited...
What would have been cool is if, when you completed the X and Y side quest, you got the Looker outfit from him.
Maybe the design is a mix of David Tenant and the other series sorry I'm not that familiar with the name but I have heard about it a lot of people mention it when talking about detective related things xd

I like the idea that we never find out lookers name because HE doesnt remember his name. When interpol picked him up after he lost his memory, they only told him his codename.

Idk what it is about Looker but his is a cameo I can do without. I just don't care much about him, to be honest. His design is ok and his story, whatever it is, has so far been pretty meh. If they manage to use him to foreshadow something really cool in the future, well... cool, but so far... meh.
Also, can you do a What's Up with POKEMON COLOSSEUM AS A WHOLE? I wish THAT series, or rather, its region (Orre) were actually explored some more. It was really interesting and it's a shame that it's not really acknowledged. Overall, I wish the devs worked more and more on making the world feel like it's actually connected. I see them throw a few references here and there. They'll say "such and such character came from Sinnoh!" but not much more.

TheJWittz! Obscure character videos are AWESOME! I've been watching your content since 2012 when you were just starting to shy away from the PROF-it! series. Which was fantastic by the way! A recommendation I have for an obscure character video is Gary Oak! Very few people know of his contributions to Poke-kind outside of being Ash's rival! The theory that look was in gen one is supported by Pokemon Generations where he is seen in Kanto alongside his companion Pokemon, a Growlithe which is the same Pokemon that one particular Gentleman trainer also owns, in fact it's his only pokemon

I beleive that Looker is in fact the Doctor, when he turns up in ORAS he has just regenerated, hence the amnesia as he is getting used to his new body. Also ultra beasts are basiclly aliens that attack earth, he has 'fallers', who are basiclly companions. Meh.

Dartrix! At The Disco nah I don't think he regenerated since the design is too much like the 10th Doctor. I believe after Donna had left he either had an accident somewhere that caused him to lose his memories, or he had to use the chameleon arch for whatever reason and is hiding in the Pokemon world and had become Looker after ORAS.

I don't looker was on the S.S anne, because there is a swimmer on the battle resort, not far from where you find were Looker washed up, that mentions hearing something splash into the water when he was swimming, yet there were no boats or pokemon around, so it seems more likely that Looker fell out of an ultra wormhole.
I haven't heard of looker since diamond and was surprised when he showed in pokemon sun and moon.
