    On my bosses farm, they have a John Deere 635D that they use to cut wheat or milo, and they have a John Deere 630F flex header to cut soybeans with. They also have a John Deere 893 8 row corn head with hydralic deck plates. They own one John Deere 9660 STS Bullet Rotor combine and a John Deere 9660 STS. I wonder if a head/platform manufacturing company has ever thought of hinging the main box section beam which runs along the top and back of the head into three sections similat to that MacDon reel for optimum distance from the ground for an even stuble cut across the full span of the head. Some of the machinery that is mounted on the aft side of the head would need some rework below the hinged areas to allow for flotation. The sheet metal under the beam would also have to be split into sections to slide past each other.
    A wide head with a flexible cutter bar, with a flexible single or twinned knives/sickles just does not leave an even stubble in uneven ground.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  Před 2 lety +2

      The X9 is a bigger combine bu per hour. A 9250 in corn is 5,000 bu an hour an X9 is 7,200 bu an hour. The X9 is 603 hp and the 9250 is 550 hp. A 9250 would hang in there with an X9. Case IH has bigger harvest technology on the way.
