Considering you are in a far away place and totally unfamiliar with the dry & windy conditions - that was an incredible display of golf. Well done Gen! Very impressive.
Instablaster
Thanks for posting! Nice to see the windy course. Now take that amazing swing to Witcha Falls and have some fun making birdies!!
I don't know if I could ever golf without my golf friends. Stay strong!
Nice VID💘I am one of your subbies on CZcams and I really enjoy your videos!
Loved watching a pro play the kind of course I play on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.
That course is owned by 1971 Masters Champion Charles Coody. He's the grandfather of Parker and Pearson Coody, who both play for the University of Texas.
Hey Gen.... I like the short follow thru on some of your shots to flight it in the wind... Now go get'em in Wichita Falls! ☠🏌️♀️
Pretty awesome how Gen has allowed us to go along for the ride while she chases her dreams. Awesome stuff!
Your swing is looking so good! I'm so envious. Don't worry about the haters. You're plenty long.
Great Vlog, Gen, really like the on course commentary. You've already made us proud, just relax and enjoy what you are doing. We're all with you.
You work at such a different level than recreational golfers like me and my pals. Always can learn more by watching your vlogs. And thanks for sharing.
This is so fun following your journey. We’re all living vicariously through you, Gen. enjoy the journey!
Around the 0:50 mark she talks about how the grass is dry and there’s a ball rolling down the hill off the right side of the screen. Haha perfect timing.
Omg! Lol. How did you even see that?
That long birdie putt was so good! 👌👌👌
Hey Gen. you can use the Satellite view on google maps for a perfect overhead view of the hole to see where hazards are and are not. Almost as good as a yardage book!
You played really well there, love the commentary and good luck in the tournament's
Gen you have everything you need to play and win!!! Just go out there and give it your best like you always do!
You’re making us all happy and so proud of you!!!🏌️♀️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️
Really fun to watch you play Diamondback! I play it weekly and it is a very challenging course. I must say the conditions are so much better now in comparison to when you made this video too.
Love the on course commentary. Golf in Texas and Malaysia, same sport, different game, but good ball striking is paramount for both.
Excellent presentation Gen. fantastic play, perfect audio and camera work. Really enjoyed it.
Don't listen to the haters Gen, they are only jealous of your fantastic swing!
Didn't even know there were those people. Nobody gains from negativity. Let positivity and love rule the world. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Who hates her? Bad comments?
@@b2bbogey735 yes bad comments she refers to in the video are people "hating". Its a generic term for people who can't perform at the same level but still criticize her performance.
Good luck! A video which would be appreciated is one where you talk about how you mark your card (04:28) and why. These kinds of precious nuggets of information from pros like yourself. Be well and best of luck in the U.S.
This!
You hit the nail on the head..."Bump and run instead of flop around the green." Amazing how many locals can't quite accept and employ that strategy.
You have a great game young lady! Fun to watch.
Excellent course. My favorite in west Texas
I really did enjoy your commentary as much as seeing how you adjusted to the playing conditions on the course.
Welcome to Texas. Not all of Texas is as dry as Abilene!!
Good luck to you...& all the best with the new challenges....and also thank you for putting the camera in front instead of back for us to see & learn yr swing....
Good video Gen. It is very intresting seeing you play on such a different course to your usual courses in Malaysia - this course very flat, open and dry, completely different to Malaysia: quite hilly, narrow and green grass!
Well played so far. I look forward to watching you on the back 9.
If you're still in TX, you should film a match with Kyle Berkshire (and/or the Good Good crew)!
yes yes. good idea :)
I think she has way more important things to do than play golf with juvenile little boys lol.
@@spap4460 Maybe she does, in which case she should (and likely will) do those things.
I (for one) would love to see a matchup pitting Kyle's distance "advantage" against Genevieve's ridiculous accuracy & short game.
I love your videos!!
The tee shot on 8 was really beautiful! Nice you were rewarded with a birdie. :)
I know this video is a little dated now, but just stumbled across it! I happen to be from Abilene so seeing this is really cool! Also ur swing is PURE!!!!
So looking forward to the back nine!
In my neck o' the woods! As always you play with class.
Good luck this week at your tournament!
Poor baby. Out there freezing half to death. What determination! Gen, I bet I speak for many of us. I am so proud of you!
Learn and grow Gen! Keep in mind that you're "DOING" what we all wish we could. It's windy, cold and different conditions than you're used to ... and soon it'll be too hot to breathe, you'll wish a breeze would come, and every course is different conditions. LOL, you shot under par in nine holes, the first time you saw a course? You are good and you know it, trust your skills 'cause you know they're there for you!
Greens and fairways will hit and roll right now! Knock down shots are key in this Texas wind! Good luck this week!
in texas experiment with pitching the ball higher in cases where spinning the ball isn't reliable. i was amazed playing on bentgrass near san francisco - there it's all about staying below the hole and reading the grain. luv your channel G.
You're figuring out Texas golf faster than I did, for sure! I lived in Austin for a while and played with my brother who'd lived there for some time (and was a +1 Hcp). The first course we played was like 6900 from the regular men's tees. I said, "Matt, I only hit driver about 230 usually. This is going to be way too long for me." And he just chuckled. I took out driver on the first tee, which was a downhill par-4, about 380. He said, "Nope. Hit a 6-iron to the left of that tree." So I did. And it bounced. And bounced. And rolled. And rolled. And then it rolled some more. That 6-iron ended up going about 250. Of course, I later needed ALL of that 6-iron to reach a 125-yard uphill par-3 into the wind. Different game down there. Have a good time and enjoy the ride!
Keep it up gen..we support u...
Early spring golf is usa is tuff because grass really hasn't starting growing good and most greens have been punched, seeded, and sanded. These greens look nice though. Texas wedge works well this time of the year
Great video. Enjoy your commentary. Love your tee shots.
Welcome to Texas and good luck!
It was funny to see you look for the tee on hole 4 😁
I really like the swing at 4:30!! 👍
I can see why you get eagles - your driving looks so solid!! Looks like your recent practice with punch shots and cut off follow throughs will be very useful over there.
Do you think there would be any benefit for you to getting a lesson or two from local pros on short game or “stingers” or just finding better strategy for playing Texan courses?
Stay safe & healthy.
Your short game is awesome. Just a matter of time once you make a few course adjustments. We're rooting for you!!
The birdie on 8 was in the hole the second it left your putter... Nice putt!!!! Not to mention the putt at 9 - so close, from sooo far!! Once you get acclimated to TX, I think you are going to do great!!!!
You have a good tee-shot ! Very consistent and enough distance !
Sure these roudn will help with the wind and the hard fairways. Good luck in the next tournament!!
I use to live in the neighborhood right next to this course and always hit at the driving range but never played on the course. Only snuck on to it once to sled down some hills when it snowed! There are some good courses in Abilene but they are the country clubs , Abilene Country club and Fairway Oaks.
Good luck this week Gen
Cool vid again Gen, ... am following of course. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Little tip of inexpensive yet most likely best value for money "MOVO VXR10 Pro" microphone as it comes with a wind muff and is better then the Rode. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Rain & high teen temperatures predicted for Wichita. I’ll ask them to put a few light poles in strategic spots & it’s going to be just like back in KL 😋. You’re gonna rock 💪🏽🔥
So surreal to see you playing here in the U.S.. Used to seeing you play in
those very green Malaysian courses.
Good luck Gen. take it easy
Great video Gen, its tough playing in that Texas wind but you did great.... you should get a camera man thou, I can volunteer for that. Also, If you get to Florida for golf, I could show you some really nice courses. Have fun and hit em straight! dave
I can't believe how easy you make par golf look Gen.
Good luck tomorrow, Gen!
Great video. I wish you had the shot tracer but still it was great.
Wow, cool....in the old USA!
Seems like links style out there in TX....lots of wind, runouts and not much wind protection from trees. Unfortunately I have to watch most of this later, but looking forward to it.
I'm still catching up on videos.....hopefully will hear about why your in TX by the time I get thru this later.
Neat to see how golfers from other parts of the world, that are use to softer and less dry conditions handle the dry west central Texas courses. I will wont use a wedge around most greens right now.
Welcome to Texas! I live about 2 hours away from Abilene in west texas. It is definitely very dry lol
The Los Angeles CA muni courses might be a fun video for you to do. Definitely a different vibe from a country club setting. One of the best courses is Rancho.
I played this course back in college. Have an Am tournament out there in July so Im doing some studying.
So different from KL TPC to see you playing in wind. Things will warm up fast soon Gen and the Bermuda grass will start to come in thick as we had a late cold snap. Chipping in thick Bermuda will also change conditions drastically.
Gosh can hear the cold winds, mayne more protection from it wearing pamts instead? Love this type of course. 🤩 am sure you get more adjusted having got 1st tournament rust out of the way
What? Some people are telling you you don't hit it far enough to be on tour? They must be unaware that you have already been on tour 🙄 Though I would recommend keeping an eye on your distances. You have a very powerful swing, and may end up hitting it farther on average in the US than you were in humid Malaysia. Perhaps getting onto a GC Quad/Trackman in a golf shop may be useful. Good luck! 😊👍
That drill with the ball between your arms really helps hit those accurate stiff arm finish iron shots.
Gen, love your channel, you are a wonderful young lady! I wish you all the luck out there. By chance is Arizona on your calendar anytime in the near future?
The wind and creaky flags sound like you're in a western movie! 😂
Gen - drives for show! People be obsessing over irrelevant things. Wishing you all the best for upcoming tournaments
Gen, try the swing U app on your phone, it'll show you the course layout and what's on each hole. i usually use the app to scout courses if i'm playing them for the first time.
Seen you are in Texas, must as well travel & play at Miami Golf course.
You could teach a Texas kid like me a thing or two about playing in that wind. It looks like you handled it pretty well. I hope you have a chance to come back to Texas when the trees are in full bloom and the wind is down a bit. We have some really beautiful courses! Thank you so much for the content and best of luck to you!
low hard hook shot in tX wind...
@ Wichita Falls - Tied 27 after 1st round 💪🏽.....go strong, girl!!!
Hello Palta
You found your tee right away on the 1st tee box :-D
Sounds like your driving distance is improved. Best wishes.
Nice 9 holes. Was this the course you played in the tournament? Courses like that should give you lots of roll. Are you going to submit a picture for the tour to publish?
Seems like you are doing much better in that cold and windy conditions. It's all those fast food give you power that's why you are hitting so long. LOL 😆 Good luck in the next tournament Gen. By the way Gen, may I suggest some golf pants instead of skirt for the cold weather?
Hi Gen.
If you are ever able, you must play Tiger Woods' first course design, "Payne's Valley". Such an amazing course. Please add to your bucket list and if you ever do play it, please, please film and share with us :).
Just trying to figure out why your camera is in reverse 🤣. Good luck, keep safe and chase that dream. I look forward to seeing you on the LPGA.
Good luck at Wichita Falls!!!
*1love
*peace
*wow
In oklahoma which has very close to the same weather as texas. Some courses have to make the choice what to water! Greens or fairways...greens win every time. So that's why the ball will roll on fairways and plug on and by green's.
"That is golf." I really need to get that mind set into my game.
Pretty good first up Rd in Texas Gen.🙂
U got the whole gold course to yourself. A very rare sight in the country I came from. The fairway appears to be very wide and hence lots of room for error even if one bombs his/her drive.
Hey Gen. Texas golf in the Winter/early Spring. Welcome to my world. 😜 I've been watching your vlog for a while now and I'm wondering, "What is the secret to being such a great putter...particularly dialing in the pace on different courses?"
Welcome to pga golf, short irons 2nd shot on par 5. Gen dechambLING. You should try a Texas bbq place, slow cooked brisket to die for!
Jealous that some of your fans came out to see you play. Maybe I missed the memo in an earlier vlog but had I known about your itinerary I definitely would have driven out to watch you play. Maybe next time you come to Texas you could tell us in advance where and when you will be playing. 😎
Reminds me of Salame, TX and Tin Cup :-)
Did you get a chance to watch any of the Masters this weekend? Hideki put on a ball striking clinic; BUT I was amazed how Will Zalatoris maintained his composure throughout. Wow! 😳
How do you keep so calm while you’re playing, throughout the entire round, for all 18 holes? 🤔
I know, “one shot at a time”; but I think a lot of us let our emotions take over. We get into trouble way more often than you, but you rarely compound one bad shot (or bad bounce) with another.
Great round, I’m sure you’ll do better on the back nine
Gen, if I may suggest you get GolfLogix app to help navigate through courses especially when playing for first time. App gives layouts of each hole and you can click on how far it is to everything. Year subscriptions is about $50/year. I have used it for over 5 years now and it really helps me to learn any new course layouts. It also have green breaks of each hole too. Well worth the investment imo.
Hi, have you ever tried chipping with a 6 or 7 iron, on that type of course it works good, use a putting type of stroke just so you skip over a bit of the ruff and then roll it
Welcome back to the US! Did you consider a change of your wedges for this change? On a hard dry course like that, you want/need far less bounce.
Mind warped seeing you play course conditions I am more used to. Trap it low!
