Who’s ready for an absolutely incredible track battle?! Mat’s got his hands on both the new Porsche 911 GT3 & the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio GTAm, and they’re going head-to-head to see which is the true king of the track!
First up he’s in the Alfa. It’s powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 which delivers 540hp & 600Nm of torque. But of course, this is no ordinary performance saloon! The back seats have been ripped out, there’s a huge wing at the back and a whole host aero adjustments across the car to get your hands on.
What’s more, it’s limited to only 500 models, and each one will set you back at least £150,000!
And then we have the Porsche. With a glorious 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six under the bonnet, it’ll put down 510hp & 470Nm. The GT3 has also SO many drivetrain updates over the standard 911 - suspension, vents, brakes… All of these and SO much more has been updated! Just like the Alfa though, it doesn’t come in cheap, costing from £128,000!

Well it depends on your preference and where you live. Here in Norway the roads are too narrow and the roads are too bumpy for track based cars, that only applies to the twisties, highways are fine. I'm better off with a fast 4 door

The Alfa Giulia GTAm is probably the best-looking most stunning saloon on the market today! Don't care about numbers the Alfa makes the Porsche look ordinary!

A GT3 is usually the answer but I couldn't say no to the GTAm. It's so so beautiful in that green and being 1 of 500, you have something truly special at a track day, amongst a sea of GT3 RS'.

Go around a track twice and you just get used to it, I text and race. Not joking either.
I think you should always do another lap in the first car at the end, to accommodate for you becoming more used to the track and more confident. Then we'll know for sure if it's because of you improving, or the car being better!
That could be a good alternative test rather than the usual straight drag race! Loving the Porsche all day long for me, thanks.

Project 8 would destroy it in a race. I'd still go for the Guilia though if I had a gun to my head. If I didn't and had unlimited money to drop on cars, I'd get them both and add a M3 competition to the collection for good measure. Imagine having a GTAm, Project 8, and a M3 Competition sitting next to each other in your garage.

Also I’m a little biased. I had a Quadrifoglio that I traded in for a Ghibli Trofeo- so I’ve been spoiled by Italian cars for the last couple of years. Coming from a BMW (the F80 M3), I enjoyed practically everything about the driving the Italian cars more than their German counterpart. I have never driving a Jag, but from what I’ve heard, they’re not necessarily know for being a driver centric brand- rather more of a luxury brand. That being said, here’s why an older and slightly wiser version of myself would choose a Project 8: 1) I could daily it. I live in a state where we have a decently long winter and I really like to make sure I have AWD cars. 2) it’s one of those rare cars, like the Lexus LFA, that transcends its brand and history and is simply just an amazingly engineered machine. The Project 8 is a near perfect 4 door saloon and I believe the appreciation for that car will only grow in the future. The GTAm looks badass, but I’m afraid it won’t hold the same historical relevance

Appreciate Alfa's efforts on the GTAm, but as Jeremy would state "If you want a speed boat, buy the speed boat; not the Yacht that's converted into a speed boat."
What's cool about the Alfa is that they developed the Quadrofoglio first and then made the regular version, making it the one of the best handling sedans you can buy.

Also way smaller and nible car. It does matter on a track like this. Showing you that you can do a track day and have fun and get a good time...even if you have just a hot hatchback instead of 150k sportscar!
it's more so that this track is a small twisty one, as apposed to a high speed track with long bends like the nurburgring.
I would love a 991.2 Gt3 vs 991.2 Gt3rs and a 992 gt3 drag race. Really cool to see the evolution!

The alpha is truly spectacular, plus in this version it is very aggressive. The Alfa Romeo engineers have built a masterpiece of aerodynamics and power, congratulations. We hope that the alpha proxies also have the same power and beauty

£150k vs £67k for the base model for a mild turbo remap, throwing out the back seats and a few carbon bits? It isn't even close to the GT3 for more than the price of a GT3 RS

Yeah although the price on the Porsche configurator is less, there’s little chance of getting an allocation to build one without having bought a bunch of other porsches. That’s why the price from Porsche is around £130k, but around £250k on the used market.
@@daveo2062 indeed, the Porsche is worth a lot more instantly, £130k is the base price, its 150k specced and £200k plus flipped if you dont have an allocation (which nobody does).
You should do track testing with all cars which your reviewing, this will be a major stepup !!

well it's a naturally aspirated engine so it's not going to be "insanely powerful". it will have 10bhp or so more than the normal GT3. But it will no doubt be a great car as the base 992 GT3 already is great.

The Alfa is actually quicker from 60-100mph Would be interesting to see acceleration up to a higher speed
Yea just subtract both of the times and the Alfa did it in 4.03 while the Porsche did it in 4.07. Not much in it but the extra torque definitely helped the GTAm

If launched properly, the GTAm can do 0-60 in 3,6 seconds; however it’s very hard, because you have to do it with no launch control and ESC off.
Also the “normal” Giulia GTA still has 5 seats.

Not necessarily, Llandow is a small track. 1.5 seconds on such a small track is a wide spread. That would be like 12-14 second Nurburgring
