    .............................................................
    It’s time for an Alfa Romeo vs AMG drag race!
    On the face of it, you may think the Giulia Quadrifoglio has this in the bag. After all, with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 pumping out 510hp & 600Nm, the stats seem to easily dwarf the 2-litre 4 cylinder power of the A45 S, which can put down 421hp & 500Nm of torque.
    However, there’s one key difference here… While the Alfa is rear-wheel drive, the AMG is all-wheel drive! However, that performance comes at a cost, with the A45 S actually weighing in heavier than the Alfa!
    So will the weight play against it? Or will the AWD power the AMG to victory? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

It's not as 'boring' as the standard 'premium' German cars and you won't see it 50 times a day. Beautiful design, lovely interior, great feel and fabulous sound compared to the A-Class!!

      Giulia is amazing car . I have mine first year of production so far 160k km after chiptuning from 2.2d 150km to 210 km I only changing oil every 7-8k and 50k for automatic gearbox. Only issues I had was with cracking screen ( I got brand new on warranty) and recently with opening mask ( cost around 130 euro part+ replacement ). I don’t have garage and I abusing this car a lot. One think I change oil from 0w30 to 5w30 and is significant improvement in engine noise and vibration ( from seven brands I tested liqui moly is working the best for this engine ). I have in past Audi/ Skoda/Opel/ Kia but Alfa is best so far and definitely most reliable from all car I have which is huge surprise for me. One thing though about parts such as brakes, wipers etc you should by only original don’t use replacement parts from other company than Alfa Romeo. You can buy them from company’s on internet for good price. Every parts from other company cost similar to original and were terrible. Brakes I changing every 35-40k and it cost me in new parts around 320 euro ( brake pads+ brake discs )

      Reliability is great I wouldn’t bother listening to the negativity from the usual rehashed old garbage we hear sometimes said about Alfa - we’ve owned them and now have a Giulia Veloce.
      We also have friends who have either a Stelvio or Giulia and have had no issues or minor. Like battery. That’s really been the only small issue. And is easily rectified. These friends , one of them put 100k+ on a Stelvio diesel and they had absolutely no issues - traded it in for a QV Stelvio. And they love it. As all the other owners do.

    I wish Mat had spotted the small puddles just where he put the rear wheels of the RWD Giulia! It is unbelievable how any car tester does not notice such a thing. I think this is what causes the slip in the first place, rather than the launch control or DNA etc.

  • @JachuJustyDriver
    @JachuJustyDriver Před 2 lety +6

    Giulia is truly a miracle car, because Sergio Marchionne gathered best engineers and told them to design a RWD sedan in just 2 years. They did it by designing a performance model first, which is a Giulia Q, and then put the lower power engines in it and removing some reinforcements from the body (that is not sure though). So if you buy a basic 200hp Giulia, it's almost the same as the Giulia Q minus the engine.

    • @nicolopavan7512
      @nicolopavan7512 Před 3 lety +21

      @Andy Raposo Rubio did you forget that the Giulia is a high performance sedan? Alfa Romeo is knowm worldwide for its performance and for the driving pleasure it conveys, like bmw. And besides being very fast, they are also very comfortable. You told me about long trips, and you can have a very comfortable long trip in a Giulia like in an A4, but the Alfa is better when you want to have a more emotional experience or when you drive in a track, bescause it is better designed. Then if you want the most comfortable car in the category, everyone knows it's Mercedes C-class, but it isn't as fast as the Alfa. Even the quality of the Italian's interior is also very high and in no way inferior to its rivals, so i honestly don't see what you have to criticize. Maybe you are just envious of what italians can do. Has the Giulia harder suspensions that audi A4? Yes, and this is a better thing, because driving dynamic is more important than comfort on rough roads. And, at last, i repeat that also the weight is important, because if it were not important, car manufacturers would not invest in light alloy frames and in carbon fiber body parts. Then if you want to understand it's ok, otherwise it's your problem

    Alfa really made a fantastic car.... at first I was not so sure to get my QV but I did it a few months ago and it did not make me regret over choosing it for a 992 carrera S which was my first choice... I can honestly say that QV is an outstanding car, great emotions to drive it and good comfort for long trips. Coming from NA engine cars I was a bit worried by this turbo V6 noise but it does not make me regret nothing. I drove for the last 6 years my company car S6 and I do not miss at all; I do not even miss driving my brother's 997 carrera S which I made tons of km with it both on track and mountain roads. It is still behind the 991.2 GT3 RS that my brother just bought but not that far away from it; if you consider the huge price differences between the QV and the RS than you realize what an outstanding job they did in Alfa. On the road I rarely drive too crazy but on the mountain pass where we can kind of speed I had the pleasure to meet M4 and new 992 carrera; with the M4 considering the driver's skills not that bad I really had no problems to keep up with him, actually I think as a corner speed Alfa is slightly superior whereas where I missed the corner speed against the carrera I could easily catch it up on the straight section of the road.. guys buy one while you still can.. this is really a masterpiece made by alfa and probably the won't make a suitable model like this in the near future....

    If the Giulia QV actually had launch control, it would be a must buy hands down. But in the real world, most people don't go to a track to take advantage of the higher HP. Therefore, you'll get beat off the line all day every day by all the other performance cars with AWD, like M3, M4, RS5 and AMG C63's. And those cars actually compete in HP as well. As beautiful and great as the Giulia QV is, it's no longer a modern day competitor anymore. It was when it came out in 2017 and for a few years after that, but sadly no real performance updates for the past 6 years and none for 2024 either 🤦‍♂️ shooting themselves in the foot..

    Im about to buy a used 2.0 ti sport. I want the QV but there’s a big price gap between them. If I were to buy it brand new I would definitely buy the QV ($80K) cause I think $53K is too much for the 2.0l model. The used 2019 2.0 ti sport has 10K miles and it’s certified preowned so that gives you an additional 2 years warranty with $0 deductible. With the ti sport you get paddle shifters and this one happens to be a Q4 all wheel drive as well. All that for only $32K…IMO I think thats one of the best deals out there. You spend another $800 get a CAI and a JB4 tune you’ll be pushing somewhere around 325 HP and 360 tq
