I love you undertaker your the greatest wrestler ever
The podcast should have an alternate sports talk or general talk. Call it DEADMAN TALKING.
@@stephano5759wwe might have something to say about that 😂 bc they probably have “deadman” copyrighted
They had one already just not as him as the undertaker
Mark the dark sting was "the crow"
If we can't have Undertaker vs Sting in a match, can we get Undertaker and Sting in a podcast together?
Sting doesn't want to do it.
@@paulcowlishawoh yeah cause you know sting right
@@paulcowlishawyou mean sting the musician right?
No a cinematic match
That would be a great idea
The fact that this aint called “Dead Man Talking” is a crime.
I upvote that! 😂
That would be nice!
Let's start a petition

Facts!!
Hey Taker! Please have Sting on your podcast as a guest
Would love to see this!
This would awesome to see/hear
Please have Sting as a special guest on the podcast sometime in the future.
Sting is frigging 65, Born March 20, 1959. Unbelievable
So Mark just confirmed the Taker Vs Sting match never happened because Vince didn't want it. He was so tone-deaf to the fans and I'm glad he's gone.
200%. I'm glad he's gone for good. To think Vince did not realize the box office of sting vs taker at mania (instead of HHH and that terrible ending) it's insane. Shows how out of touch he was this past decade.
Vince on Taker vs Sting: "Eh.. I'm not feeling it."
Vince on Triple H burying Sting like he did all of WCW's other top talent in the past: "I LOVE IT! LET'S DO IT! AND BURY THE NWO WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!"
Vince oh You mean the literal reason this podcast even exist ? Smh
@@kryptoniankaiju thats on hhh 2 cant blame vince 4 everything..h wanted 2 bury sting
vince lost his fastball at the end after 2008 booking decisions became much more spotty
Sting was definitely the face of WCW he was the man love sting growing up
Ric Flair?
@@RomesThe59 could be a generational thing. I'm 34 and I remember Sting more than anyone
I remember after Sting beat Flair in that “passing of the face” of WCW match, as well.
@@sydsweiner651635, and Sting, even guys like Glacier we saw working more at that point.
I was born in 94 and I don’t remember much but when I think of wcw I think of sting, booker t, Goldberg, diamond Dallas page ect. But sting is definitely the first that comes to mind
The crazy thing is Sting isn't 61. He's 65. Let that sink in. The dude's longevity was unreal.
He was actually 62 250
@@bmills6176 Uhhhhhhhh we're talking about age here dude.
That is so crazy he is 65...
@@bmills6176 that is as dumb as when my uncle tells me his height when I ask him what he is up too
Sting and The Undertaker on a podcast would break the internet 🔥
The possibilities🔥
I think another reason sting lasted so long is his move set. He stuck to a pretty safe move set that didn’t do tons of damage to his body.
The first 10+ years he was around, Sting was pretty high impact and did some wild spots. His runs with Vader and Foley showed how far he was willing to go. Even after the 'Crow' change, and as recently as Forbidden Door, he showed he was willing to take big bumps.
@@BAztid he took his share of bumps and did crazy stuff on occasion but I mean like his finishers. None of his signatures were too rough on his body. He didn’t use a leg drop or moves where he was slamming down on his knees or tailbone constantly. Like how the leg drop messed up Hogan’s and Matt Hardy’s backs. I’m sure stone colds doesn’t feel too good after all these years either. Or the undertakers knees from doing the tombstone.
Good call I always looked at it that way he didn't get to crazy till later on and got more crazy in aew
Vince is so out of touch no sting vs taker and Kurt’s last match with Corbin
200%. I'm glad he's gone for good.
It's insane to be Vince McMahon and not realize the box office sting vs taker (instead of HHH) at mania would've generated. Shows how much out of touch he was this past decade.
@@davidepannone6021I agree in principle, but Taker HHH was wm 27-28, right? Sting could've been not available at the time to transfer. Such deals take a lot of time, negotiation, then renegotiation, consent ultimately. But in perfect world Sting Taker for wm 30 would be great.
@@user-mn1sm4pj2d dude I'm talking triple h vs sting which was horrible and even more so had an horrible finish with both DX and the nwo run ins. Nothing about hunter vs taker.
@@davidepannone6021 oh, ok. There was no angle, though. Streak was broken, and there was no time to make up a new story in place. They pitched that antiauthority thing for SO long. That's two matches that went wrong, Taker Brock and Sting HHH. Sting HHH could've been fine if they made it not just a street fight but like extreme rules. Then, if both DX and NWO stormed in and started wrecking up the place, that would be fun, but they would all need to be quite a bit younger for that to work. One of those things that got its implementation a decade too late. If they're too old to perform, don't show them, I agree.
Was “Crow Sting” really viewed as a knockoff to Undertaker?
I never saw anything in Crow Sting that reminded me of ‘Taker.
"Crow" sting was more closely related to the movie "the crow" instead of the undertaker. Never considered sting a knockoff of the Deadman when he switched from surfer sting to crow sting.
Nah. It's just idiots that for some reason are tribalistic over whatever wrestling company they watch.
Agreed
It was more of not talking and hair in his face
It was because crow sting was a darker character and he was the franchise of wcw like undertaker was the phenom of wwe
We definitely need Sting on the show! Get in your wrestling gear and do a stare down vignette for it as promotion! Would be legendary!
We couldn't see Undertaker vs Sting, but I'd love to listen to Mark and Steve talk
Vince screwed Sting. Insane to bury him with Triple H and then put him in a match with unsafe Seth Rollins. Sting was one of the first guys to protect himself. He worked smart, took breaks and got over by building storylines and having great segments. Vince f'd up that formula.
Sting was suppose to go over Rollins, that was part of the agreement… Triple H got Mania and Sting got the belt but he got injured during the match so they had to change to ending so he didn’t get injured further. Sting has said that was his fault because he didn’t prepare his body for the move properly and Rollins checked on him in the back because apparently Sting was a major influence on Rollins
That's why Sting never wanted to go to WWE. I'm glad he got the end he deserved in AEW and had a nice run with Darby. Ended being tag team champs
How is Seth unsafe? Sting himself already said him getting hurt was NOT on Seth, he already had an issue and taking the bump didn’t help it.
@@Kevmaster2000 He injured Bray at the time AND Finn Balor. Then, after ending Sting's career, he injured himself and lost the WWE title.
@@andrewft31 Sting was supposed to go over? goddamit Seth.
Please have taker and sting together in a podcast.
Here's an idea have Sting on the podcast and book how that match would play out
Wwe did sting zero favors when he finally crossed over
Joker Sting was even better Booked.
Dixie carter knew how to use STING
If he hadn't gone, he would've spent the rest of his life wondering anx haunted by what could have been.
They did him a huge favor showing him that he was right for all those years. He can retire in peace, now.
Sting & Taker Podcast would break the net
Two Words: Cinematic Match!
No
absolutely not. I hated those matches.
Sting was part of Mid South Wrestling/UWF when it was bought out by the Crocketts. That is how Sting came to WCW. Sting and Warrior actually started in Mid South as the Bladerunners before Warrior left and went to World Class.
They started in Memphis-CWA as The Freedom Fighters, then became The Bladerunners, then they went to Mid-South. Dutch Mantel gave them the Blade Runners gimmick in CWA. You basically got it spot on otherwise, just a minor thing.
Sting & Warrior were a tag team in Mid South known as the Blade Runners where Warrior was known as Rock. Then Warrior went to World Class & became the Dingo Warrior.
Technically it wasn't Mid-South but UWF - which was basically the same entity with a different name
They started in Memphis before Mid-South.
They started their training in California for Powerteam USA. When that went nowhere they were picked up by Jerry Jarrett's CWA as The Freedom Fighters (Jim Justice Hellwig and Steve Flash Borden). They turned heel as The Blade Runners (Rock and Sting) shortly after. Then they went to Bill Watt's Mid-South (what later turned into UWF). They split up and Hellwig went to Fritz Von Erich's WCCW where he renamed himself The Dingo Warrior, while Sting continued on in UWF. Dingo Warrior then went to the WWF where he became The Ultimate Warrior and Sting stayed in UWF when it was then bought out by Jim Crockett's JCP but called NWA. That particular NWA was then sold to Ted Turner where it became known as WCW.

Surfer sting is what everyone calls the Malibu sting 😉
Crow sting is the nWo war sting which had a few versions of the facepaint but it’s predominately black and white
Wolpac sting is the red n black
TNA saw the Joker sting where he played a crazy lost his mind sociopath kinda evolution…
The fact that HHH got the WrestleMania match instead of Undertaker is the biggest missed match in wrestling.
Happy birthday the Undertaker 💜🎩🕯️⚱️⚰️🪦
Closest to a match with Sting Vs Undertaker is in a WWE game that has Sting
Listening to The Undertaker speak from the tree of knowledge of the wrestling world is so insightful, entertaining and simply a blast. Thank you!!
I'll never get over this match never happening, biggest missed opportunity ever. That said, can you please bring Sting on the show?
I would love to see Taker and Sting on a podcast storyboarding or walking through the match they would have liked to have.
6:20 “I could walk out there and shuck&jive and smoke&mirror it and make people feel like they saw something… but that’s just not right.”
The man just described the industry at its core after just claiming to throw the best punch in the business.
Taker is amazing. He’s right AND he’s also right. It’s been an amazing time to have lived through the Monday Night Wars and then to see these two icons (crowd favorites and 2 of my all time top workers) respectfully retire (I made sure I was at Sting’s retirement match/show) but then to also have the chance to see Mark talk about the business out of character… it’s humbling that such an icon will break down the business and give us insight through his life. He is The American Badass!
Hey I think you should have STING on the show. Now that would be so cool.
Happy birthday Taker
We’re never getting the match, but it’s never to late for an in-ring stare down at Mania. The pop would be insane.
“one more match! One more match! One more match!” 🤣
@@markfroman738 right lmao 😂😂
Sting was the face of the WCW more so than anyone else because he never left for WWE. Flair, Luger, Stieners, Austin, Hall, Nash, Pillman, Taker, Arn Anderson, Sid, Benoit, Guerro, etc.
All of them left prior to the collapse at one point or another.
Sting didn’t. He stayed the entire way through.
Austin was fired… so it isn’t like he left willingly. They saw no money in Nash, Taker, Hall, Guerrero or Benoit. Flair they fired also because he refused to be turned into Spartacus and cut his hair.
Get Sting on !!! That would be such an amazing episode.
sting with the creation of sting at times he was even bigger than the undertaker so well done for him allways the best sting
Sting wrestled in Mid-South Wrestling with Rock (Ultimate Warrior) as the Blade Runners in 1986-1987. He was also with Eddie Gilbert’s stable as a tag-team with Rick Steiner in Mid-South Wrestling. He then wrestled in NWA in 1987 when NWA merged with Mid-South Wrestling, which later became WCW.
He had such an amazing stellar career at least we got to see the two of you wrestle in WCW i'll take that as a feather in one's cap thank you Mark & Steve you're both icons & legends. 👏
It sucks that Sting didn't make the jump to WWE a lot earlier, but that's a wrap. it is what it is, and that's on him. I think they both had insanely long peaks for their careers which is impressive given their ages. I agree if it happened around 2009 or 2010 the match would've been better received by the general public. I'm pretty sure a lot of people wanted to see it happen just for the story they could have put on with both their gimmicks even if the match wasn't a 5 star masterpiece. Undertaker/Sting is still my 1 dream match. I think a feud/match with these two in their primes would have been the most entertaining match ever. But I'm so biased cause I love both guys. Don't mind me
To be fair, if Sting did jump to WWE earlier than he did, he would get burnt like other WCW stars that moved to WWE, cus Vince want to make WCW lose and that WWE is better than WCW stars. Vince proved that by burying Sting for HHH's unneeded win at Wrestlemania. I think Sting made a right call to NOT join WWE post-Invasion era.
ALMOST had him in 2002 at wrestlemania 18…they were gonna do sting vs angle but didnt happen at the 11th hour
Sting and Dingo Warrior!!! Texas wresting in the late 80's!! I'm glad that you remembered thst.
Sting and Taker had some of the best long careers. They stayed good for so long
Mark, I'm not sure if you remember but you had a match with Sting before you were The Undertaker back as Mean Mark in WCW. Do you have any memories of working with Sting when he was still Surfer/The Franchise of WCW?
Happy Birthday My Favourite The Undertaker 🎉🎉🎉 I hope you show up at Mania!
A face to face in the royal rumble is really all we need. It would be easy for both guys. Its not so much the match people want but the story they could create.
I've seen sting at 3 different house shows in the late 90s during his crow era
Vince dropped the WCW ball HARRD.
He did them dirty
Sting and Undertaker are my all time favorites. As much as I would've loved to see that match the only real satisfactory ending to it would have to be a draw with mutual respect and admiration (and probably some form of "supernatural" air to it using rafters, under ring/facility passages etc for each at a couple points during the match).
Nice to see the 2001 badass Taker throwback :D
Yep, Sting was in Mid-South as one of the Blade Runners with Ultimate Warrior
I would love to see Sting as a guest on this show. I would watch that entire episode
Sting vs Taker would have been great in the late 90s. We'll never get to see it unfortunately but those two on a podcast together would be a great consolation.
I thank Scott Hall everyday for turning him into Crow Sting
Sting's career I got to see from his intro into the NWA back in the late 80s. It was phenomenal without having to be a major player in the WWE. Who else can make that claim to fame? Undertaker one of the all time greats as well. I got to see his matches when he started in Texas as Mark Callaway on a Georgia wrestling tv program that aired every Saturday night for about 6 hours going through different promotions. The presenters were Uncle Sammy, a blondes gal and Joe something (an overweight fella). Those were the early good ole tv wrestling days.
Sting had to change his facepaint with the Crow character in the beginning. James O'barr, creator of the Crow told him..man, this is my character your doing yourself up like. Steve didn't have to do a lot,but he did have to tweak the paint
I'd love to see Taker in an on screen role similar but different to a manager. Toss a couple chokeslams here and there. Pair him w/ a supernatural performer to give them legitimacy. I just love seeing Mark, doesnt matter how physical he gets.
It would of been build up to a match that we would remember forever. The most iconic gimmick match i believe we would have seen in our lifetimes.
Sting and Warrior actually got their start tagging in Mid-South Championship Wrestling, as Rock and Flash managed by Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert, not in Dallas' WCCW where Taker got his start. Flash's name actually was changed to Sting shortly thereafter, for whatever reason (D.C. comics copyrights maybe?) Warrior left after about a year stint in the company and bolted for Dallas where he took on the moniker of the Dingo Warrior, around the time that Taker was breaking into the business, in Dallas, as the Punisher.
Sting and Undertaker I wouldn't mind being a pre-recorded cinema match. I need something with those two.
He gives really good interviews, I'm surprised The Undertaker doesn't do acting in movies or TV shows.
The one visual from the buildup to the match I always wanted to see, even more than the match itself, is all of Undertaker's druids out there, and then they pull their hoods down and they are all Stings.
With Sting and Undertaker both being retired they HAVE to do a podcast together now
The algorithm brought me here didn’t know taker had a pod🔥🔥🔥🔥
He did wrestling Sting. When he was in the WCW.😊
The ultimate dream match: Sting vs the Undertaker in a... thumb wrestling match. Someone PLEASE make this happen.
Mark is spot on. The Taker/Sting match would have been legendary when Sting was in TNA. By the time he got to WWE, they were both on the downhill. They could have drawn, but neither would have been happy with it.
If HHH was in charge in 2014, we woulda had Sting V Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31 or Summerslam 2015.
Taker vs. Sting is still my ultimate wrestling dream match, it’s a shame that there were multiple times to do it but Vince wouldn’t pull the trigger
It's so important to understand your limit and work within that. It's how you have a life after choosing to retire instead of being entirely decrepit after being FORCED to retire.
Sting started off in Memphis, TN.
Sting is a senior citizen. Amazing.
I can't wait to see Sting again and see if he'll sign my upgraded championship belt in October I'll be sure to film it
Sting coming down from the ceiling is one of the best things in all Pro Wrestling. He always thanked Scott Hall for coming up with the Crow gimmick.
Yep and props to Sting for how long he was out of ring action to fuel the build up with his match against Hogan at Starrcade.Even though the match was subpar to build that up for so long and keep fans tuned in was something else.During that time you had diehard fans of WWF watching WCW or flipping back and forth between Raw and Nitro.
Sting and Warrior - The Blade Runners started with Mid South, then got bought by NWA turned into WCW.
TNA then AEW. Sting worked on his craft from beginner to Legend
¡Gracias!
Lets get a show with the Underfaker and Ted Dibiase ! Would love to hear how all that went down from each others perspectives
His name is Primetime Brian Lee and I don’t think he is alive anymore
Would have loved a Sting/Taker Tag Team Run more than a straight 1 v 1 storyline
It would be off the charts awesome if Taker and Sting did a WrestleMania match. Not even announced, no press release, kept under wraps so tight nobody knows. They just show up out of the blue and put on a match
That Match would have been epic. Even as a cinematic graveyard match or boiler room brawl on Netflix is still possible 😁😁😁
The icon
Even as far back as can remember around the 2001-2002 time period, I was hoping to see Sting Vs Taker when WWF purchased WCW, but at this point in history, we will never know.
And chokeslam he did 💪🙌
would love to see sting or any other old school wrestler of your choice as a guest on this podcast
The incredible amount of respect Taker has for Sting is evident in how he's speaking of him and his career. It's also refreshing to see how apolitical he is when it comes to companies too. The man respects talent wherever it's found.
Scott hall is the reason why sting changed to the crow ❤
JOKER sting in tna was one of his best characters

Great video Deadman.
Can you imagine the build up to sting vs taker how many months that could have simmered for. I’m shocked Vince didn’t see the dollar signs and make a win each then a draw or something or even have taker go over
I wish WWE would release Mark's and Sting's match against each other on the Network which was never televised in WCW when Mark was Mean Mark which Mark could mention about it.
Thank you for everything you have done
I grew up on TNA sting I had no clue he was in WWE before
