no it was an amazing movie, but there's some parts that are hard to watch especially regarding one of the character's deaths (you all know which one I'm referring to). It's psychologically and physically disturbing that death because the movie spent time setting the character up as a human being and when the death occurs you really feel it. Hits a lot harder than imo than Hostel. I haven't seen Siberian so I can't comment on it yet.

Like saw or itch the killer too much blood makes your mental immune to the shock you will get by watching other disturbing scenes and they are not usually well directed but this movie portrayed immence violence outta nowhere and the shouting from the victim made it worse.

At the end of the day this is probably the outstanding film of the last few years for me. Where I'm at in recent movies is Kill List, The Rover, The Drop, Blood Ties, Rob The Mob, Mojave, The Counselor, The Connection, The Hunt, Disorder, Cheap Thrills, Open Grave, The Hollow Point, etc., but Tomahawk probably beats them all.
But have you seen Brawl In Cell Block 99, Craig S.Zahler's follow up to Bone Tomahawk? To say it's bad doesn't begin to fathom it's infamous depths; it's plain bizarre! Either Mr.Zahler's done a one good/one bad type of deal with Satan or he was on some seriously rotten drugs. I watched this film yesterday, what a gem. I expected there would be over the top violent & gruesome scenes & i'm glad to report there isn't a shred of superfluous violence. Films of this caliber are hard to come by these days, brilliant, raw, perfectly executed stuff & for once, they left it right where i wanted it to end. Also, it doesn't rely on obnoxious music to get the tension across, in fact, it has very little music & man I found that to be incredibly refreshing. Bravo !!!

Literally just finished watching this film and found it to have all the qualities of a very decent film. It's driven by the story with moments of suspense that keep it interesting. It's well acted without ever being over acted or oppositely stale. Basically it's following the formula of a lot of other films but doesn't screw up by trying to do too much or think too much of itself like a clever dick. The film does start to feel a bit stretched with filler in the late part of the second act, a long road trip. But quickly re-captivates and becomes just so creepily eerie from the start of the third act.

Stumbled on this movie while searching my cable on demand…WOW! This is the most entertaining movie that I've watched in YEARS!!!! I knew NOTHING beforehand about the the movie or the plot having not seen or heard even one thing about the movie (WHY NO PRESS ON IT??) The film takes off quickly in the first scene, capturing the viewer with shocking actions of 2 murdering bandits. I don't want to go in to detail as to not ruin it for those of you who have not seen it yet…the less you know about the film the MORE you will really enjoy the journey and scenes. I like Kurt Russell as an actor already….but he really does a marvelous job, especially in the end scene, (BRAVO KURT!) For fans of "acting" keep a keen eye on "busy work" of ALL the actors during scenes, and especially the facial expressions of Kurt in the last scenes of the movie, He REALLY IS DOING A MASTERFUL JOB! I FEEL IT IS SOME OF HIS VERY BEST WORK!
Does the movie have some issues…yes, as all movies do…don't pay too much attention to David Arquette's TEETH in his scenes, they literally CHANGE COLOR from black and rotted to normal healthy white teeth…as if they shot entire scenes with black teeth in and then had to reshoot scenes and forgot the "black teeth"! and the end scene "SET" The CAVE, CRIPES!!! THE 1970's show "LAND OF THE LOST" called and said that they wanted their set back!!!! it looks so cheap!!! I expected to see a Sleestack come walking out!….while I'm doing a little "shitting" on the movie by pointing out it's problems…please let me take the time to point out that Sean Young has a minuscule role in this movie (one scene) as the wife of the Mayor, I only wish it were minuscule-er.
Now, this has simply been some knit picking…The "problems" do not really cause any issues with suspension of disbelief, but rather were simply pointed out as flaws…there are more…but that concerns some pacing and sense of urgency which would take much too long to go into…I would like to point out that it is my opinion that this story would make a GREAT STAGE PLAY!!!!!

This film is a knockout!! Kurt Russell is tremendous in it in one of the best roles he has had for ages.
I only came across this film recently. I had never heard of it, but saw a bit on CZcams, but I wanted to
view it in better quality. As luck would have it, I was able to get the Blue Ray within a couple of days.
This is a very laid back, slow, low key western but it's also a horror film with definite "R" rated startling horror.
Some people get kidnapped by a throwback primitive cannibal indian tribe that even the normal Indians
want nothing to do with. (That sentence says a lot!!)
Despite that premise, this truely is a wonderful acting film to watch for the 4 lead performances alone.
Kurt Russell, terrifically weather beaten as the sheriff, Patrick Wilson handicapped by a leg injury but determined to get his
kidnapped wife back, excellent Richard Jenkins as Kurt's old deputy and Matthew Fox (from Lost) as the fourth
    person in the posse.
The dialogue is terrific to listen too as it just seems like normal conversation between friends.
Truely a fascinating discovery with an ending that's almost not unlike John Carpenter's THE THING remake.
    Not to be missed.
