"You say goodbye to my wife, ill say hello to yours" Has been one of my favourite movies lines I have heard in a long time. Brilliant film
Agreed. That line really got me.
Enter the noid such an awesome movie.
Oh man you messed me up with that
That was pretty dope
Tear up every time. This really is a brilliant, underrated film. Also, Richard Jenkins/Chickory is simultaneously hilarious, and the sweetest old man that I just want to hug.
So you watch the scalping, and you think that was the most gruesome thing you've ever seen in a movie. And then a minute later, you change your mind.
This movie was freakin brutal man.
Oh it was good I meant brutal as in some of the violence in the movie is pretty shocking lol.
+Sean Paulson youll find out, just dont eat spaghetti before watching
Just saw it. First thought it was a suspense western til I got to the third act. Nope, it's a horror western. Awesome and disturbing!
The pregnant women in the cave is something out of Satan's nightmares.
mateee when they cut that guy open from the genitals up that was fuckeddddd
It would be so good if Westerns made a comeback , this is a genre almost forgotten today .
There's also Django Unchained, Hateful Eight, and Magnificent 7 just to name a few
Free state of jones, in a valley of violence, the duel, just to name a few more, from 2016
paradisecityX0 And let's not forget Cowboys and Aliens. Umm....wait maybe we should. All three films you listed were excellent though. Not surprised the Tarantino films were great but remaking a classic like Mag 7 was a big risk....and it payed off. Better to think of it as its own film, rather than a remake.
What's awesome is Ennio Morricone did the score for Hateful 8, the same guy who did the score Once Upon a Time in the West, the Fist Full of Dollars Trilogy, and many other westerns.
I would say that the high point of Western movies were the Spaghetti Western movies, and they were brutal and dark...
Looks like Kurt Russell was running from one studio to another in the same clothes...
+mestido HE made this movie right after TOMBSTONE ,,,that's why same clothes !!!!!!!!
+75PIISPA I thought he was talking about The Hateful Eight?
ah ah ah ah
+mestido Exactly.
+75PIISPA So this movie is 22 years old?!
Looks like Kurt Russell is getting some extra mileage out of his Hateful 8 moustache.
This came out before the hateful eight
@@chrishybes840 Well then he got some mileage out of his Bone Tomahawk mustache for The Hateful 8. lol
Have you ever seen Tombstone?
@@chrishybes840 and where do you get your information from good sir because you are wrong

Kurt Russell is one of the most underrated actors.
+Gambit The Exile Not that underrated just slept on
haha yeah not underrated at all.
+RaLOfficial he is totally under rated, his acting in movies like Tombstone was oscar worthy yet he never gets any awards, not even nomination
+Gambit The Exile I completely agree. He is a very good actor but gets less credit than her deserves
+Jack Torrance ,so was his dad Bing Russel,he did a lot of westerns and with John Wayne,he played the guy that loses his leg then dies in The Horse Soldiers, other were Ken Curtis and harey carey Jr. in that movie, got to spend some time with Harey Carey and his sister once in Santa Clarita :)
this movie was insane. Straight up one of the most violent films ever
I didn't find it that violent? maybe I'm so used to hostel and Siberian as well as some other films. idk maybe because it's a Western but didn't find it very oh I can't watch this.
danae hernandez
no it was an amazing movie, but there's some parts that are hard to watch especially regarding one of the character's deaths (you all know which one I'm referring to). It's psychologically and physically disturbing that death because the movie spent time setting the character up as a human being and when the death occurs you really feel it. Hits a lot harder than imo than Hostel. I haven't seen Siberian so I can't comment on it yet.
Enoch Ching that sabrian movie was very disturbing. I agree it did set him up very well and it is an amazing movie! Acting was top notch. It was upsetting but I've seen alot of gore movie and j just felt bad for him and it was upsetting. Didn't have a hard time watching it though. 😀 Differently buying this for Blu-ray collection
There are plenty more movies packed with more gore and blood than this movie have. But i believe that this movie was one of the most mentally disturbing movies in recent times.
Like saw or itch the killer too much blood makes your mental immune to the shock you will get by watching other disturbing scenes and they are not usually well directed but this movie portrayed immence violence outta nowhere and the shouting from the victim made it worse.
Cartel execution videos spoiled me too much. Seeing someone ripped in half in real seems much more brutal with context on it.
There's not really a dull moment in this movie but even the moments where it's just talking are unreal. The dialogue in this movie is sooo unique and captivating. The bathtub conversation... amazing!
This is a movie where nothing happens for an hour and then absolutely everything happens, and by God, is the payoff worth it. Fantastic 10/10 film.
Kurt Russell pretty much disappears for 15 years, and now he's doing two movies this year? Hell yeah.

+neanderthor66 He has a role in Fast and the Furious 7.
I stopped watching those after 2 minutes of the second movie.
Just watched this movie today. will never sleep again.
I can't stop thinking about it

I'm loving all these new modern westerns coming out. Slow West was good. Still wanting to see The Salvation with Mads Mikkelsen.
+nirvanafan21191 Same here. Wonder if it will ever come out? (I'm in Brazil)
Can't wait for Hateful Eight
I love Mads Mikkelson but The Salvation was a let down. Slow west was great though. Go watch The Proposition with guy Pearce!
Thanks for the heads up on The Proposition. Guy Pearce in a western sounds neat. And I absolutely agree about Slow West. That was not only a good western, but an A+ movie for me.
+nirvanafan21191 True Grit remake? Hailee should have been nommed and won the best female oscar.
Matthew Fox was brilliant in this. I wish there was a stand-alone movie about his character.
Mathew fox? Jack from Lost?
Anthony Barrie Yeah. Can't remember his characters name. He's fucking great in it though.

This is one of the best horror westerns ever made! Kurt Russel is outstanding.
Who knew a western could make a great horror film. No distracting music but you feel the suspense in your bones.
"Smart men don't get married." Matthew Fox was a scene stealer for sure. Kurt Russell, Richard Jenkins, and Patrick Wilson were great additions as well, and the film may not have been the same without them, but Fox's "John Brooder" made the film for me. Can't wait to add this film to my collection.
AWESOME movie!!! Lost my mind!!! So good. Matthew Fox doesn't get enough credit for what a great actor he is.
Very impressive movie. I never seen something like it, the sound design made it very special. Frightening to say the least.
Yes ! realistic way !
I'm simple man. I see Matthew Fox, I click like. 'Cause he's pure awesomeness.
same here 😄
Yup, he's sure come a long way from "party of five" days thats for sure.
Same here. :)
Jack Shepherd.
One of my favorite movies ever. Everything was perfect. Acting, dialogue, cinematography, just everything. What you expect to happen, doesn’t happen and what you don’t expect to happen, happens. Just amazing, I’ll watch anything Craig Zahler. Brawl in cell block 99 and dragged across concrete are two other gems from Craig Zahler that I can watch over again
This film is a testament to the power of true independent horror / genre films that if blessed with a budget and worthy actors will keep giving us diamonds in the rough like this amazing film that silenced me and gave me chills as I watched it to everyone involved with this instant cult classic "thank you all sooooo much! There is still room for originality THANK GOD! And the totally original score with totally unconventional music is genius. Wow! Mr director keep it up bro cause I'm a fan now! Peace and many thanks christo
Christo Roppolo There was no horror involved, it had a weak story line with little to no character development. The whole movie was a brain dead experience, made for weak, brain dead people with no life experiences who spend the majority of their time in fantasy land. Judging by you're post, you fit into this category.
At the end of the day this is probably the outstanding film of the last few years for me. Where I'm at in recent movies is Kill List, The Rover, The Drop, Blood Ties, Rob The Mob, Mojave, The Counselor, The Connection, The Hunt, Disorder, Cheap Thrills, Open Grave, The Hollow Point, etc., but Tomahawk probably beats them all.
But have you seen Brawl In Cell Block 99, Craig S.Zahler's follow up to Bone Tomahawk? To say it's bad doesn't begin to fathom it's infamous depths; it's plain bizarre! Either Mr.Zahler's done a one good/one bad type of deal with Satan or he was on some seriously rotten drugs. I'd advise you to avoid it but we might never see it's like again and you have to see it to believe it!
Christo Roppolo.
This didn't even have a budget though lol. It was 1.8 million, I think. 1.8 million for a film that looks like 50 million or more
Dusty Grave Damn. Did your momma used salt instead of baby powder when she'd change your diapers?
Matthew Fox, good to see him acting again
+Jack Whittaker And he did it great in this one.

Kurt Russell does a good western.
Kurt Russell does two good westerns.
The dialogue in this movie is very, very good.

Great movie. Saw it last night at the West Coast premiere. Funny and extremely violent. It's being released unrated. Always a good sign.
Its ok, Kurt Russell managed to grab a flamethrower and burn the thing at the end.

One the most surprising and best films I have seen in recent years. Western meets stone cold Horror, with a sprinkling of comedy by Richard Jenkins and Kurt Russell...Will stay with you for a long time after the credits roll. Enjoy!
The greatest western movie I’ve ever seen, full of mystery & excitement and horror.damn!🔥👏🏼
watch this movie if you want to see perhaps the most unpleasant way to be murdered i've ever seen. ouchie!
This movie was made in 21 days on a budget...amazing!!
I watched this film yesterday, what a gem. I expected there would be over the top violent & gruesome scenes & i'm glad to report there isn't a shred of superfluous violence. Films of this caliber are hard to come by these days, brilliant, raw, perfectly executed stuff & for once, they left it right where i wanted it to end. Also, it doesn't rely on obnoxious music to get the tension across, in fact, it has very little music & man I found that to be incredibly refreshing. Bravo !!!
I don't know, it could've used more crotch splitting at the end imho.

This is a type of movie that you can watch once. And then, maybe in 10-15 yo u watch it again. The movie is amazing, but not everyone have stomach for it. Writing is spot on, acting is spot on 10/10. But... There is that " but" ...
Just saw this movie.....there is something hypnotic about it. Recommend but not for the faint at heart, you'll see

Is this a western or a horror movie?
Yes.
This movie is AWESOME!....never seen a movie like this before.
One of the best westerns ever made, up there with classic Clint Eastwood flims! Yes, I did just say that!
That SOUND!!
I can't stop hearing that haunting sound!!!😨
They were all brilliant in this but Richard Jenkins as "Chicore" was my personal star in this movie.
"Bone Tomahawk"(2015) is an excellent atmospheric Western thriller movie!
brilliant movie, 2015 movie and already between the best 100 horror movies all the times! absolutely outstanding performances and script!
You MUST watch X directed by Ti West...a brilliant scary movie...not a western though.
That one particular murder/execution scene in this movie seems to have left quite an impression with viewers judging by this comment section. All I can say is... watch the movie Terrifier if you wanna see a creative variation of that kill. Woman instead of man, hacksaw instead of tomahawk, etc.
Well, Snake is not looking very good at the end of the trailer there.
+Gustavo Rifan When some wild-eyed, six-foot-tall Apache sticks an arrow in your mouth, taps the back of your favorite head down against the desert floor, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" Richard Jenkins was great in this movie! Some very surprising and subtle humor in this suspenseful movie!
this movie is an easy 10/10
"it isn't a boast, but a fact"
Just got done watching .. I sat through it the entire time & did not regret any minute. I’d definitely recommend this movie 👍👍
Dang, this is a good movie. It's a bit hard to watch sometimes because of how gruesome some of the scenes are, but there are occasional moments of unexpected comedy that provide much needed relief. It cracked me up when that shell casing fell into his mouth.
Literally just finished watching this film and found it to have all the qualities of a very decent film. It's driven by the story with moments of suspense that keep it interesting. It's well acted without ever being over acted or oppositely stale. Basically it's following the formula of a lot of other films but doesn't screw up by trying to do too much or think too much of itself like a clever dick. The film does start to feel a bit stretched with filler in the late part of the second act, a long road trip. But quickly re-captivates and becomes just so creepily eerie from the start of the third act.
Nice review!
Most of this film is quite tame but there’s one particular scene that really takes you by surprise kinda like the ending of uncut gems
That is a good comparison actually
Stumbled on this movie while searching my cable on demand…WOW! This is the most entertaining movie that I've watched in YEARS!!!! I knew NOTHING beforehand about the the movie or the plot having not seen or heard even one thing about the movie (WHY NO PRESS ON IT??) The film takes off quickly in the first scene, capturing the viewer with shocking actions of 2 murdering bandits. I don't want to go in to detail as to not ruin it for those of you who have not seen it yet…the less you know about the film the MORE you will really enjoy the journey and scenes. I like Kurt Russell as an actor already….but he really does a marvelous job, especially in the end scene, (BRAVO KURT!) For fans of "acting" keep a keen eye on "busy work" of ALL the actors during scenes, and especially the facial expressions of Kurt in the last scenes of the movie, He REALLY IS DOING A MASTERFUL JOB! I FEEL IT IS SOME OF HIS VERY BEST WORK!
Does the movie have some issues…yes, as all movies do…don't pay too much attention to David Arquette's TEETH in his scenes, they literally CHANGE COLOR from black and rotted to normal healthy white teeth…as if they shot entire scenes with black teeth in and then had to reshoot scenes and forgot the "black teeth"! and the end scene "SET" The CAVE, CRIPES!!! THE 1970's show "LAND OF THE LOST" called and said that they wanted their set back!!!! it looks so cheap!!! I expected to see a Sleestack come walking out!….while I'm doing a little "shitting" on the movie by pointing out it's problems…please let me take the time to point out that Sean Young has a minuscule role in this movie (one scene) as the wife of the Mayor, I only wish it were minuscule-er.
Now, this has simply been some knit picking…The "problems" do not really cause any issues with suspension of disbelief, but rather were simply pointed out as flaws…there are more…but that concerns some pacing and sense of urgency which would take much too long to go into…I would like to point out that it is my opinion that this story would make a GREAT STAGE PLAY!!!!!
Just watched and really liked it. Like movies who take their time building up suspense.
saw this movie last night and really liked it, great cast and great acting! Love Kurt Russell.
Excellent atmospheric western horror movie! Kurt Russell was great!
Brilliant movie! Well acted, well written, and spectacularly gruesome!
Patrick Wilson is such an underrated actor.
This film was brilliant. Highly underrated. Very interesting dynamic and dialogue between the actors they chose. Not to mention high-quality violence. Something of an Apocalypto meets Slow West. I give it five stars.
I know this is old, but if you enjoyed it and still do, you might like the Blood Meridian, which I think might have inspired this book and film.
So happy to see a new Kurt Russell film.

Such a refreshing dip into what good movies used to be. Fantastic acting, plot twist that although familiar end in a badass situation. The complexity is in how the actors translate the story on film. The ending is one of the best i've seen today. Suffice it to say it will seer and question any fiber in your being with regards to past civilazations. LOVED IT! I only came across this film recently. I had never heard of it, but saw a bit on CZcams, but I wanted to

This is a very laid back, slow, low key western but it's also a horror film with definite "R" rated startling horror.
Some people get kidnapped by a throwback primitive cannibal indian tribe that even the normal Indians
want nothing to do with. (That sentence says a lot!!)
Despite that premise, this truely is a wonderful acting film to watch for the 4 lead performances alone.
Kurt Russell, terrifically weather beaten as the sheriff, Patrick Wilson handicapped by a leg injury but determined to get his
kidnapped wife back, excellent Richard Jenkins as Kurt's old deputy and Matthew Fox (from Lost) as the fourth
person in the posse.
The dialogue is terrific to listen too as it just seems like normal conversation between friends.
Truely a fascinating discovery with an ending that's almost not unlike John Carpenter's THE THING remake.
Not to be missed.
This movie messed me up so good. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
