I remember watching this with my aunt and sister it was so surreal. This type of daytime horror is so good cause it’s the idea of brightly colored, sun shining, tooth rotting sweetness that is so jarringly taken away by murder!
I guess I must like watching it too. Kind of an original idea ... and it gets the adrenaline flowing. Understanding the reason why people like watching this stuff ... even fictitious imaginings of no-regret violence ... is one of the main keys to unlocking the human condition. Jacob Odom that man's performance makes you feel his evil, he obviously didn't care the harm he caused this woman in the past, especially if he took out everybody at once. I love what he says, "you didn't survive you marinated!" He killed her spirit before killing her, what a brilliant actor.

There were several other ways to defuse the situation, but at 1:43 or so when he drops the facade, you can almost see the relief on his face as he grabs the gun. Like he said, he never liked that life, and merely by his expression you can see that he's glad for the excuse. That's great acting!

Dylan Baker is an incredible actor, hats off to the way he quickly switch faces in this scene. Jordan Peele and crew did a great job in selecting him for his character.
Incredibly over the top and they make his makeup more sinister and sweaty, his eyes more red each time they show him. So over the top it's like a joke. Was the screenwriter 13 years old?
You can when they are two separate scenarios. The setting for the meltdown was to expose a murderer. The setting immediately changed when said murderer comically dropped everyone in attendance including his wife and three children so he could have a private intimidating conversation with a woman. The setting for the tough talk is someone who knows they're dead and doesn't want to give their killer the satisfaction. Not so much "bad writing" as it is limited viewer analysis.
It's what he says to her in German that brings her back to reality.. He says... "You thought the War was over?? No Darling! Only the dead know the end of the war. WE are STILL HERE!!! EVERYWHERE!!!"
I like this scene. What starts out as a backyard family BBQ a place where you feel safe warm and welcome. Quickly turns to into fear and dread. The feeling of being all alone with the bad guy. Completely helpless.

Anyone that watches this 3 minute scene and navigate to another show is beyond me. I was committed. I had NO idea how far this was going to go. In a later scene, you can see the kids floating in the pool. So many jaw dropping events throughout the season. Highly produced. Acting was impeccable and on spot. You will need subtitles for the first two episodes.

I am native german and can say that this is one of the better performances of german language.. of course he has an american accent, but if you take it in this exmaple, the butcher lives already 30 years in america undercover and after this long period i would also have an american accent.
For example the word "überall" (when he says "wir sind überall") is well spoken and the letters "Ü,Ä,Ö" are very hard to pronounce for americans..

I remember watching this with my aunt and sister it was so surreal. This type of daytime horror is so good cause it’s the idea of brightly colored, sun shining, tooth rotting sweetness that is so jarringly taken away by murder!

Understanding the reason why people like watching this stuff ... even fictitious imaginings of no-regret violence ... is one of the main keys to unlocking the human condition. There were several other ways to defuse the situation, but at 1:43 or so when he drops the facade, you can almost see the relief on his face as he grabs the gun. Like he said, he never liked that life, and merely by his expression you can see that he's glad for the excuse. That's great acting!
I don’t think it was relief I think that reaction was more of a “fuck it” or “really” because again that was 30 years of work and I’m another scene he says the their plan was almost finished just to almost be foiled like that I think it was more of like a disappointment than anything because you know….the family and life he had to build was part of the plan even if he hated them

You can when they are two separate scenarios.
The setting for the meltdown was to expose a murderer.
The setting immediately changed when said murderer comically dropped everyone in attendance including his wife and three children so he could have a private intimidating conversation with a woman.
The setting for the tough talk is someone who knows they're dead and doesn't want to give their killer the satisfaction.
Not so much "bad writing" as it is limited viewer analysis.

I like this scene. What starts out as a backyard family BBQ a place where you feel safe warm and welcome. Quickly turns to into fear and dread. The feeling of being all alone with the bad guy. Completely helpless.

I like the fact that the producers of the show implied the kids died without showing it. It’s eerie to hear the three shots ring out after the butcher put a hot one into his own wife.
SO thankful they didn't show that....but yes, the 3 bullets and just knowing was disturbing enough.

To everyone saying that it was over the top for him to shoot her after the accusation, just imagine for a second that he doesnt, she goes to the police enough times and SOMEONE takes her seriously and then boom. Hes discovered. It makes sense that he would do something dramatic after someone openly recognises him as a nazi.
Anyone that watches this 3 minute scene and navigate to another show is beyond me. I was committed. I had NO idea how far this was going to go. In a later scene, you can see the kids floating in the pool. So many jaw dropping events throughout the season. Highly produced. Acting was impeccable and on spot. You will need subtitles for the first two episodes.
