Cooking Tip: To remove the bitterness from the bitter melon. You place the slices into salt water and let them soak for about 15 -20 minutes, rinse in plain water, then cook or add to a salad - delicious ! 😋 😋 The bitterness will quickly become a memory.😊
That's how we prepare it in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
We do that in the Philippines, sprinkle with salt and water.

Oh, don't forget to fry eggplant. I'm just trying to remember all the vegetables that we fry here in the South. I'm in Louisiana. I mentioned the squash and zucchini earlier.. Don't know how Alabama is on homemade chicken and dumplings. But you really ought to turn Ann & others there, on to the homemade chicken and dumplings, if you know how to make them. Im sure they're a family favorite in Alabama also. One other thing I thought of is fried Boudin balls. You know they have rice and a pork inside called boudin and inside. You can also add cheese inside the Buddha and balls.Which is my favorite. That would be really popular in the Philippines. I didn't see any while I was there for 4 months. I'll be moving there within the next 3 months . Hope to see you all both sometime. Really enjoy your content, especially when you and Ann get together. She's has such a vibrant and lovable personality. Not to mention as you will know, she's extremely beautiful. Enjoy the food

I've had similar experiences while vlogging in Southeast Asia, trying to navigate local markets for ingredients and then attempting to cook a traditional dish with lots of laughs and a bit of confusion along the way. John you should be learn how to eat bitter melon because a lots of good benefits of our body good for anti cancer,ulcer good for the inflammation ..when you slicing the bitter melon put in the water with salt then squeeze a little and rinse it so you can it ..salad much better for me❤❤❤

At first I couldn't stand bitter gourd/melon Ive been coming to the Philippines many many times over 10 years and now live in the Philippines for the past three years and kept testing the waters with bitter gourd. Now I love it and usually have Pinakbet once a week i love all the fresh veggies in this dish. Have you tried Sinigang yet? It's a sour soup and just like bitter gourd I really wasn't a big fan of it at first but again now I love Sinigang. I would go as far to say that Sinigang is my all time favorite soup.

We usually cook Bitter gourd with Eggs like sautée Bittergourd with garlic,onion and tomatoe then at the end we put scramble eggs that’s what we called Ginisang Ampalaya
