    Video idea - Magazine cards. Lots of cool stuff to explore there. Some super high value rookies. Some cards from mostly unknown magazines that go for a surprising amount (such as Sports Card Investor magazine Lebron and Pujols). Sports illustrated and SI for Kids have put out a ton of cards.

    Those were the kind of cards you already read about in Beckett but never saw. There was always a story in Beckett about someone who casually bought 1 pack off the top & pulled some rare 1/1 insert.

    The reason that 1998 Longevity Jeter went for so much is because it was 01/50. The first serial numbered card in the set is actually a 1/1 called Longevity Holographic.

    The 1995 Finest Refractor set is considered to be a short printed set with a print run estimated at 550. Because this was the year after the 1994 season with no World Series, Topps did not want to invest a lot into printing a premium set which may not sell because of the backlash. So they limited production on Finest.

      That is awesome to hear! I really first got heavy into cards in the 1990s, so these years have a lot of personal attachment for me. I think the 90s was a very creative time for the hobby in terms of design and card concepts, a lot of cool stuff.

      @@collectorinvestordealer I completely agree. I just had this conversation with someone the other day. We were both missing some of the creative inserts from those years. Some of those were just brilliant. The crazy thing is, it was just one or two people coming up with the designs sometimes. There's another YT Chan that has had the husband and wife team that designed the PMG's and a lot of the iconic inserts from the 90's. I figured it was a bunch of people around a big table with well thought out plans. Come to find out it was more of a "throw it and see what sticks" mentality.

      @collectorinvestordealer  Před 3 lety

      Parallels of Griffey and Jeter from the 1990s are generally going to be worth getting graded, assuming they would grade 9 or 10. There might be a few exceptions. Feel free to shoot me an email if you want me to advise on a specific card.
