    I think the only change that might have helped it would be vertical launch bays, rather than side ones. Launching missiles up/down out of the hull so they get much more clearance on the engine pylons.

      It can be easily negated with proper flying.

      TheRezro Agreed. If you present your ventral or dorsal aspect while firing, you shouldn’t have too many issues while having a good time-on-target for both broadsides.

    pretty sure the reason the missiles failed to launch/damaged the ship, was because you were changing the speed too much, they can likely shoot fine if you have a constant speed.

    I like that it’s not just another space sausage design. It actually has some shape to it even if it’s not as optimal. Too many ship designs are just squared off cylinders.

    lol, well travelling at high velocity and firing 104.38 m/s projectiles isn't always a great idea haha. But to be fair, he can upgrade the missile parameters to fly out far enough to at least not curve towards the tail section. That's easily adjusted in the custom data under detach duration I think?

    I think missiles need to go past the speed limit of 100 m/s to be effective against enemies with missile turrets. The max range for these turrets is 800 meters, and when the incoming missile is only going 100 m/s, it has to withstand blasts for 8 whole seconds. If there are multiple turrets, it could be 100% failure rate. Launching more at the same time might help, but faster speeds would be needed to make it worth it imo. Game engine limitations though...

    I can say this from experience. One of these versus an RCSP Exile, and the exile doesn’t stand a chance. Just 4 missiles and there’s a hole going clear through the other ship

    whiplash now has a missile fire script call LAMP that allows more control of the missiles and how they target. you can change the point of impact and how they missiles fly.

      That would be great! I've messed around with it a bit on creative but cant quite get it right for survival. There seems to be quite a few stages in the building process that can really klang it up.

      my advice from someone who has some experience with this game don't build a 3D printer not only does it anger Klang but its probably the laggiest thing you can do in this game especially when welding with small grids most servers ban it.

      @@Rebel28416 Good to know, thanks for the advice. I do see printers on their servers though where they can pull rovers and ships out of. It seems like most of the large factions have one. Is this just something they limit as admins?

      @@ezco4392 LSG has very good server that's why they can have them on his server but it costs money to join as its not cheap to run most servers are not as good and your own personal computer will struggle to handle it

    As many have already said, whitelisting Scripts would be a god send to server players, really open up the multiplayer community to more players / script writers. Great review, Really wanting to push Whiplash's script to the limit, see if cluster type missiles are efficient. I also think rovers with this ability could be devastating even in such air dominated gameplay!

    Side turrets needs improvement. I agree with the self repairs for the side turrets and maybe use a top launchers instead of side launchers. Something that would want to play around with on the design.

    I would make the missile bay bigger and at some connector and turn it in to a hanger for some small hanger

    Awesome ship, the design is beautiful.
    The only issue is that these are completely unusable in survival due to the cost per shot. (Gyros, Antennas, Thrusters, warheads, etc)
    Also, ships using a gravity drive will be able to easily out run the missiles.
    For survival, the only real cost effective option is to effectively lob warhead at a stationary target with a recoverable motor.

    Does the targeting script work by simply aiming in the direction, thus launch in that direction or does it lock onto the enemies grid so they can home into the enemies ship/grid

      Having a look at it on the workshop it looks like it uses raycast from cameras to lock onto targets, almost like a LiDAR system

      The camera it uses to lock on is where the ship faces though...
      And I have tested to see if the missiles home in on targets. They don’t. They may lock on, but that lock has no meaning.

    II don't know if this is an existing feature or not, but here's an idea: Let servers,whitelist certain scripts. They can be seen as "curated" scripts, that have been approved.
    I know Aron has relationships with the devs, so, maybe you can suggest this as an idea.
    Also, that missile script is very very good. Props to the mod developer!

      Whitelist scripts wont be easy. Changed one variable, is it still the same skript?
      One variable change can be the difference between performant or not. And between beeing useful for your ship, or not. So really hard.

      ​@@godmode8687 No, not that hard. I'm a coder myself.... Just finalize it. Write it properly and test it for performance before submitting it. If it needs to be updated, then the server admin can review and approve the update submissions once a week or month....

      @@nobob8564 Well, it doesnt fit with the current way of scripts in this game at all.
      That would then be more like small mods for the server. You can already choose predefined scripts for the LCD's etc. So all you need is only allow such scripts in the programmable blocks. But that would then no longer be scripts the player pastes into the programmable blocks, but instead be scripts choosen by the admins and added as mods for all players.
      Not bad solution, but not just a small change to the balance.
      What do i smoke? Nothing

    just bought the game for Xbox and I'm really overwhelmed with all the button combinations. finally managed to create a couple usable ships but I can't for the life of me figure out how to place small items, no matter what I do it places the large variant.

    Those wide engine pods on the side right behind the launch hangars are a terrible design on an otherwise nice looking ship. They're at the perfect level for missiles to slam into as they exit the hangar if you're moving forward.

    Notice you again mention there is no real way to control scripts on a server. I have seen some servers do use a tool
    But it's not like a white/blacklist system it instead disables programmable blocks if any script is running too frequently and/or creating over a set amount of lag on a server. Afraid I dont know the name of the tool but hoped someone else hear might know?
