Ramon Turner Floyd didn't throw anything off the back hand, he was setting up traps, range, seeing what Maidana was planning on doing and the pace he was going to fight at. That was a "feeling out round" with jabs and slap hooks, not really committing to anything.
boxing is a skill that can defeat tougher bigger punchers if used the right way. the inside fight is Maidana's best way to win. so you have to take that away, so you move and box, try and win the judges on points. you cannot move like that for 12 rounds so you have to have good upper body strength to tie him up. i apreciate the art of boxing, floyd does it well. if you like the brawler types thats okay too, you dont have to buy or watch his fights.
Only somebody who boxes can understand the taxing burden of that stick and move style. Casuals call it "running" but I bet they won't be able to run for 30 seconds in the actual ring
@@larrywheeler9917 facts if u watch floyd fight he always stands his grounnd the first few rounds sometimes he will bounce around to change angles and get them to move their feet in which he controls distance

He Controlled That Whole First Round With His Lead Hand.. Beautiful Boxing.. If I'm Not Mistaken I Didn't Even See Him Throw The Right Once, Yet He Won And Controlled The Whole Round With Just The Lead.. Masterful And Impressive
In my opinion, he needed to take better angles on Floyd. He didn't cut the ring off well at times and he worked to hard in spots where Floyd knew he couldn't punch him. When you take bad angles, and get out worked with the jab, you end up having to come from behind on points in the later rounds. In short, he was often out of range due to bad angles and no effective jab. Of course you have to give credit to Floyd for creating that kind of situation in the first place.

Boxing will never appreciate Floyd, how sad. He is one of those figures whose greatness will only be recognised by the haters of his time, in years to come when they are able to look back when all the dust has settled. I fail to understand how someone who claims to be fan of BOXING and the sweet science that it is, can openly call him "boring". Nothing is more appealing than watching a master technician carry out his craft so flawlessly. And this is coming from an MMA die hard. 50-0...the record speaks for itself, and says it all.
No true boxing fan does call him boring! Only the piss heads who want a good scrap could say that.... Remember seeing carl froch at a weigh in meet him and he was like a kid in a candy shop! The guys a living legend, possibly appreciated more here in Europe which seems odd to me.
Yah I fckin appreciated all those hugging, running, pushing every time hes opponent is on range. YOU CALL THAT A FIGHTER? everytime he sense a danger he will hug or push
Brilliant. Very smart not to throw too many combinations early on with a puncher before you get a feel of how he reacts to your lead hand looks. If not, you can get caught as he's returning much like Ward did against Kovalev in their first fight.
Brjden Crewe great point. Ward is usually very wise with his lead hand, but I think the adversity he was facing in the 2nd round caused him to react with an over-committing counter right hand. great point again tho!!

People don’t understand the true beauty Floyd’s had on boxing. Every fight he’s had for the last 15+ years people will come up with every excuse for why he’s gonna lose to whoever it was at the time and everytime I told them no chance, you can’t hit him doesn’t matter if your a brawler or a skilled boxer he’s gonna control you with the jab all night and if you make a mistake he’ll counter you to a slow 12 round death. The jab is the most underrated weapon in combat sports. All the real all time greats all had that jab to control their opponents.
