  • Welcome back to another video in our Malaysia Travel Vlog series! Today we are in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia and we are visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
    Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is 43 sq km of protected land at the edge of Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve. Today around 25 young orphaned orangutans are housed in the nurseries on site, in addition to around 60 to 80 orangutans that are living FREE in the reserve.
    We really enjoyed seeing these beautiful creatures and learned so much at the centre/reserve. If you are in Sabah we highly recommend adding this stop to your itinerary.
    We also visit the sun bear sanctuary that is very near to the Orangutan Centre. The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre is the only sun bear conservation centre in the world. It was founded in Sabah, Malaysia in 2008 with two aims: to provide care and rehabilitation to rescued sun bears; and
    to increase awareness of sun bears internationally.
    Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed this video like, comment, and SUBSCRIBE!

    Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary is a truly amazing place but it’s so sad to hear about their homes being destroyed due to palm oil production. How do you get access into airport lounges so easily?

    • @SammyandTommy
      @SammyandTommy  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes it’s such an amazing sanctuary! It’s really sad they are losing most of their natural habitat 😔 We get priority pass lounge access with our chase sapphire card.

    I am in September on Borneo and I will visit the Sepilok Sanctuary. I’m very interested to support the Sanctuary with work, donations
    , feeding, cleaning, playing etc. Do you have experiences in supporting? Who can I get in contact with? Thanks for your video, it’s very impressive and fantastic! 👍

    Cheers😇 @sammy and Tommy ,
    I wished to ask you , what do you guyz do for living while traveling across globe , digit nomads?
    Which is your favourite country ?
    And I am here with a request can you guys please add expenses tag ( eg how much did they charge you for the entry to the park) in your video.

    • @SammyandTommy
      @SammyandTommy  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Sandeep! Yes, we can definitely insert some costs into the videos, I believe this video actually has a cost of the centre in it already :) We saved up for a few years before we left to travel. I don't think we have a favorite country but we did love being on safari in Africa and we loved hiking in remote areas of Myanmar (and so many more)! Have a great day!

    You are lucky to see Orangutan up close? Lol. It means that the orangutan in SORC is already humanized. This video should be the evidence of the tourism at the SORC does not follow the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Best Practice Guidelines for Great Ape Tourism
