  • Welcome to the Land Below the Wind, Sabah!
This video is produced based on our nine-day trip to the east coast of Sabah, visiting Sandakan, Lower Kinabatangan River, and Tabin.
This is where Orangutans swing branch to branch, where the Sulu Sea and the South China Sea meet, pygmy elephants roam in herds, and where a land of myriad people celebrate their cultural heritage.
During our trip, we saw more animals and birds than we wanted - pygmy elephant, proboscis monkey, sun bear, and orangutan. We also tried the unique Sandakan food and had the freshest seafood.

Great informative video. I am just beginning to plan for a trip to Borneo from South Korea, though I am Costa Rican. At the beginning, Sandakan was not on my itinerary, but after seeing your video, I know I must make a stop there. I only have a week and want to spend some time in Semporna. I guess I need to do a lot of planning! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your adventure in Sandakan, the video is very detailed & informative! There are so many activities & places to explore both day & night, very amazed by the wildlife animals & the mud volcano! A very well planned itinerary for 1st timers to East Sandakan 😃👍

As there is still the idea to live in Borneo one day (MM2H), I watched your vid and stopped for more than a whole day to read about the lives of the Keiths. What an international life they had! I do not understand, how this vid can have only 4 comments with 3521 views. So here is one more from an European in spanish speaking America. You earn more than five! Well done. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this detailed video! You know, in a world where hard to find useful info among all the “fancy travel influencer” vlog, where they show their outfit more than the places that they visit :D … your videos are very valuable. We will visit soon Sandakan, your video helped a lot to finalize our itinerary 😄🙌🏼!!!!!!!!!

I'm very sure I saw those exact two elephants when I went in September 2022, as they were also a mother and adolescent son.

Actually the Kinabatangan river is infested with crocodile but they,re always underwater. Just waiting for any forms of meal to fall into the river - then grab
