At this point, we need another tech tree Skyhawk, specifically the A-4M.
More ammo, more powerful engine, Mavericks, Walleyes, AIM-9G/H/Ls, as well as a drogue chute.
I agree entirely, maybe one of those advanced versions they made in the late 70s, early 80s for export.
The A4K would also be nice

The booster rockets also look a lot like the separation rockets from Kerbal Space Program which I find amusing because stuffing those everywhere is a ton of fun in that game.

Think about getting the A-4E Early. It's a Squadron vehicle, it's in all ways identical to the A4b but has 5 pylons instead of 3 what means you can carry even more weapons

A tip for the bullpup: make sure that you have set the guidance key binding to relative control do that the missile only turns when you are pressing a key.
I would love to see a companion piece done on the F9F-8. Heading into T6 soon and having to choose which to be first. (Sounding like a clear win for the A-4B, but still)
Its coming eventually. The A-4B is still a go-to grinder for me, but just be aware it no longer gets an airspawn in the current patch.
F-86 all the way. The F9F-8 is NOT good. Just because it gets 4 Aim-9B doesn't make it good lol. It is SLOW and not maneuverable at all. It also compresses HARD. Go with the F-86 first to get to the F-100. Then you can go back to the Naval tree.
the bullpups are kinda nice against ships in EC, generally just 2 do the trick
Loved the A4B and the history behind it enough that I picked up the "PlaneTag" for it 💙
It has a very weak engine. You are literally flying at prop speeds with ordinance and trying to climb, gain speed or manoeuvre after an attack run is.....sluggish. Also it's ordinance load is only good without air to air missiles as they take up two under wing pylons. Those gun pods are fun though. One short burst takes out pillboxes and tanks which is what I usually go for (depending on the map).

A-4E is the best one imo, i love it
G'day, the Douglas A4D-2 Skyhawk has the unceremonious title of being the attacker with the most deaths related to internet issues for me when I flew it out a lot last year.
Out of 81 deaths in ARB 11 where to actual combat with 70 being to internet problems (the joys of being Australian).
Still the A4D-2 is a fun attacker and with the Mk.11 Mod 5 cannons it'll challenge even the mighty GSh-23 in a head to head fight, plus in top down attack it'll pen AI tanks.
Hm I miss the old maps as I got good loft bombing with the A4D-2 against airfields as I never went for bombing points with this aircraft and 18× 250lb could easily knock out one point with 10 of them but now you need like 5000lb for a point (yay the map restructure what every sweaty fighter main wanted uugh), especially with the loft bombing as I could loft bomb an airfield from 7 km an sometimes blow up the last hiding guys just due to doing a loft bombing run lol.
Still at one point in this models life with the FFAR pods installed you'd fallout the skies from the weight but luckily that was changed, still It cannot rotate like crazy no more either which is sad too.
Anywho this aircraft was a great grinder especially with a talisman.
So funny thing when you talked on the AGM-12's sadly 90% of players actually use AGM's as just high yield dumbfiring rockets which is actually a pretty big issue in GF, So praising Gina pilots is ehh not really wholesome sadly.
Anywho you might of noticed I've been saying A4D-2 instead of A-4B, It was the original designation until 1962 and some jets still have those designations in game exhibit A, the F-11F-1. exhibit B, F8U-2. but interestingly the old designation can be seen on the non market colour schemes under the tail stabiliser an while not seen on the A-4E early it's pre 1962 designation was the A4D-5.

A4E turns much worse and actually accelerates a bit worse, the extra thrust on it adds more weight than its worth.
Funny that "The Scooter" and "Heinemann's Hot Rod" is being called slow here lol It's subsonic sure but it flew pretty much like a fighter of the era (hence that tidbit you mentioned about simulating MiG-17's at TOP GUN.) Sprightly little aircraft.
Also one of the times in US history where a project was not only done on time, but under budget and beyond the initial specifcations.
Granted, the A-4s used at Top Gun were heavily modified/stripped down

I don't think they'll ever add carriers to naval, but eventually, all of the maps are going to be the size of Naval EC and there will probably need to be carriers. Idk. I just can't imagine someone enjoying playing a carrier, since they just float around and pray they don't get bombed.

The G91 gets Bullpups with proximity fuses to use against aircraft, the A4 does not. They’re not god tier at aiming, they’re just getting them close enough.
Is there any reason to play it over the A-4E? It used to be lower BR but not anymore and it seems it's been kinda sidelined.
Nope, A4E gets flares and 2 extra bullpups, basically a straight upgrade.

I had decent fun spading this one. :) Mostly dumped shit on bases and went back to base mind you. But it is such a cool little aircraft and so iconing. :)
Yes it looks so gorgeous. Shame you get a doinky matchmaker at it's BR and the attacker spam on US side means your team is gonna lose a lot of games.

Yeah, the meta has changed quite a bit over the last year.
I'll likely be doing a revisit of the entire A-4 family sometime in the next couple of months.
@@TimsVariety I just finished getting the A4B tonight. This was the only recentish guide but not many guides even from a year ago stay correct sadly
