I think the f104 is better in many ways then the f11
@@rt-eden8392 the F-104J has a better radar, RWR, missiles, speed and acceleration than the F-11F, but I believe the later is more comparable to the F104A and could have been upgraded to have similar loadouts and radar to the F104J while having better maneuvrability

Honestly in a lot of ways the F-11 is what 9.3ish jets should be. Good if played right, and a good way to teach players about positioning while still having noticeable drawbacks. All in all a good entry to the early missile era, marred only by the compression of 10.0 attackers
Funny thing about the Tiger: there are technically two variants of it: The one we all know and love (featured in this video), and an early variant with a non-retractable refueling probe in a shorter and weirder-looking nose. It also had no LEXs
The 'short nose' version was made in very low numbers compared to the long-nose version. As I understand it they went to the long nose version in anticipation of fitting a radar (which never happened, as mentioned in video). I can't recall anything about the fuel probe in the nose, but something tells me it only moderately worked
Hopefully one day we get the F11F-1f Super Tiger, with the J79, it always cracked me up that it was significantly faster than the navy or Grumman expected at over mach 2. Shame that it never went anywhere with Lockheed bribing Japan and Germany.
The F-11F was my first "supersonic" jet and it was what I learned the most from when it came to managing my energy and my positioning. Even back in 2020 it wasn't a top dog and almost every youtuber talked down on it but for some reason I managed to be one of few that can consistently do good in the Tiger, regardless if I win or lose.
I don't play WT anymore but do have the F11F-1.
I think one of the reasons you don't see it very often is due to the fact that shortly after you got it, Gaijin exploded the repair cost to 40k (i think, or close to it). There was outcry from the community but Gaijin only reduced the repair cost to 20k much later (maybe a year or so later).
I also think that when it was first released it was at 9.3 (but i could be very wrong on that).
Wild that the F11 is a direct successor to the to the F9, would have never guessed that!
Grumman loves it's evolutionary designs. The early WW2 F4F Wildcat is based off the F3F biplane, and evolved into the F6F, which in turn lost weight to become the F8F (and funnily enough the F8F has some visual similarities to the F4F). The XF5F became the XP-50, then the F7F. The F9F became the F11F, but also gave birth to one of the first experimental swing wing jets the F10F which ended up inspiring the F-14
It was *supposed* to be, but obviously diverged quite a bit during development.
Kind of similar to the f86 sabre and f100 super sabre

In my review of the F-104J I pulled a carrier landing in that thing... it ... wasn't quite as clean as this one ;-) ...
I remember grinding for this jet and it being the top dog of that br for awhile, the only thing with 4 missiles and a after Burner, and it was at 9.0 so it could face some really easy targets, funny that it’s rare now I’m not much of a grinder but I’m happy that I have something special.

This jet, despite being so polarizing when it came out thanks to it's insane repair cost, and the matchmaker trying to make people not play it, is my most played jet but about a hundred matches.
It was the first jet I grinded and I used it to grind out the rest of the US tech tree at the time. I talismanned it and used it for everything, even if it didn't make sense.
I love that jet and all of it's wonky-ness. At this point I'm all but sure they won't put the Super Tiger, but I'll love my funny little plane no matter what.

repeat for about 7/10 games, in the other three, the F-11 is the F-104 we have at home.
I had played War Thunder a few months ago but never really got into it. I eventually deleted it off my xbox to make room for other games. I have since made some space and re-downloaded it and now actually have a lot of drive to play it! It can be pretty annoying and aggravating at times (Gaijin moment), but overall, I love it! Your videos actually help my gameplay a lot as well as give me some cool info because I absolutely love history and military vehicles, especially tanks and aircraft. I'm very glad I found your channel!

The F-11F is a really fun plane to kinda goof around with because its better than a Saber and really captures the idea that jets can be fun.
The Tiger is one of my favorite jets to play. It may be inconsistent, but I find the playstyle very rewarding. Despite looking basic, I think that's to its advantage. It looks, at least in my mind, like what a jet fighter should look like.
Kinda sad that I've barely touched this jet in enough time for it to become rare-ish.
It was a fun plane to fly, I just never had a need to grind US jets, and still don't since I've switched my priorities away from the Big Three.
As a boom and zoom player, I can confirm everything he says. This plane is great for jumping on people at lower energy. Even when I get up teired I still get kills every now and then. So long is the radar guided missile's don't get me at least. 🤣

Grinded this to help me prepare for the F-14 a while back, only to get a talisman for the F-84 and got stuck base bombing for weeks.
Which F84? Cause the B is a cracked air superiority fighter.

The f11f is the most jet-plane-looking jet plane out there, wat i would draw if i had to draw a jet from memory
From my experience it is a very good plane for SIM AirB. Because it is fast on the deck, for it's rating can run afterburner 100% of time without overheating and turns decently after some speed bleeds as a typical naval fighter. The trick is to turn slowly to keep energy or fast to dump it for better turn rate, which is something using a hotas in SIM gets you.
EDIT: Your biggest oponent is still Sagitario 2 as it outturns you and on deck outaccelerates you. Just keep away from that thing and only boom&zoom it.
I remember when it came out, was very annoying to fight. They would occasionally dominate a match but not necessarily do well. It worked pretty much solely as an energy fighter.

Some of these old jets should have get a BR decrease by now. Like the Vautours are now rank 6, but without the airspawn those have no chance even on their own 9.0 BR. and try to fight in a F-86K nowadays.
And I still have free repairs left on this jet.
Alongside the Ta-152 (and now, the F-15) this is one of the sexiest planes in WT...

Despite its mediocrity, I have bit of a soft spot for this thing. I didn't play it much after spading it back when it came out, but despite my usually average performance I was handling F-11F pretty well and even more surprisingly still get an ace or two whenever I pull it out. The rarity makes people wary of what they're up against and situations where planes almost in every way superior to yours simply decide to not engage are numerous, especially in up-tiers.

There was the F-11F-1F which was fitted with the GE J79 engine, the same one on the F-104s which would be a nice addition to the TT or premium line...

Basic problem with the F-11F-1 is that it was too short of fuel, giving a short cycle time (launch to landing period, generally last to launch first to land). If you’ve got to put a fuel tank in the fin, you’re getting desperate (like the EE Lightning putting fuel in the flaps. Good airshow performer (nice handling), advanced trainer, just not suitable for carrier operations.
The only reason I’d want this aircraft is for the Blue Angel skin, I’ve got the F-84F, F-100D, and F-4E all equipped with the Thunderbirds and when I unlock the F-4J I’m gonna spend the 200 GEs to get the Blue Angels for it.

Ayyy this was one of the first events I actually grinded out, got the F-11 and the C2. I really liked how it looked and thought 4 missiles and afterburner at its BR was pretty cool. I held on to the coupon though, since after tons of research on its performance I wasn't totally sold on it being worth cashing in. Ended up trading it nearly 1:1 for the Mig-23MF in the marketplace... I thought that was a good upwards trade. Except now I have the Blue Angels skin I can't use! Bah!
I also have trouble aiming the colts for some reason. I still really want this jet though it’s so cool

This is the best thing I ever saw.
I have this one but I used it a long time ago. The problem for me was the repair cost. It was astronomical when I had it and I wasn't using premium account back then. But it was a fun plane. I got good kills or wrecked. No in between.
I now own 2 planes that "Depend on matchmaker" on trust me that means trash. The snail says 14% of your matches will be uptiers. but I would say 1 in 5 matches I finally fight my BR and I get 5 kills, then back up 1.5-2BRs and feeding all day. so if a plane cannot punch up, it can't play.
You forgot to meantion how the F-11F still has that bug where when rolling it pushes negative Gs for now reason (it pushes the nose down). This is exemplified at 6:58 where when you tried to roll left and then pull to get your guns to bear on that hunter, the aircraft pushed negative Gs quite annoyingly which made it harder to actually aim at the target.
((this aircraft sucks in dogfights because of that, any combat which requires to to readjust the orientation of you aircraft is a bad scenario for this aircraft.))
I will say that this doesn't occur at all speeds, IIRC at lower speeds this phenomena doesn't occur.
These prize vehicles from events are totally unreachable for normal human beings with a job.
ah yes, my first top tier star reward, this jet may be good for some ppl, but i don't think this is a jet for me, i despise how slow it is without the afterburner, and just like you said earlier, it became a brick at high speed.
after i unlocked the F3H (9.3) i feel it's almost better in every way than F11
Thats a pretty expensive camo you got rockin on that F11F-1.... I still haven't used the ticket for this jet yet and its sitting in the inventory collecting dust until i see a good price to sell it or if I get bord with stuff maybe use it.

I considered buying an account that has this purely for this because I'm on console and since they aren't doing account transfers anymore at least to my knowledge I will never ever be able to see the gaijin store
I wish I had this jet but I have an Xbox native account and I’m hoping to get it transferred to a full on pc account but gaijin is not taking the transfer thing right now. This will probably be the first thing I will get when I get my account transferred. I had a steam account at first on my laptop but started playing on Xbox for performance, now I have a PC and wish I could’ve had it like 3-4 years ago.

Because it would be hard to put them at a good BR for them like if it was too low of a BR it would be too fast or if too high of a BR it would be too slow and useless
@@YoloThunder69 Unless we rework the entire air battle system to focus on bombers on lobbing cruise/ballistic missiles at bases and having the fighters either fighting over the bombers or rushing to intercept missiles.
even gaijin know they won't sell well to players simply because their own gamemode doesn't facilitate such beasts

As an owner of it, as the video describes its very quirky. Its all about positioning. But i must emphasize tou need to be good to be good in it. In a down tier and being a good pilot you will be baby seal clubbing. In an uptier you stand no chance at all, its as bad as it can get.
