Brothers duh.
BOYS! Do I need to separate the two of you?
Here is a summary if you want to copy it somewhere after watching the video!
[During classes]
1) Eliminate distractions: electronic devices away, even stay away from friends if needed (that way you have already seen the material once when you start studying)
2) Take great notes: by hand rather than with a computer, in a hierarchical manner rather than just a list, and paraphrase rather than copying word by word what the professor says (these techniques will improve retention and comprehension)
[3 to 7 days out]
3) Cheat sheet: On one sheet front and back write all the important concepts you need to know for this subject and try to explain them to yourself
4) Practice: problems and mock exams until you feel confident with concepts
[1 day out]
5) Arbitrage: If you studied well, focus on resting, and having a healthy lifestyle (exercise, food, etc.). Cramming will only deplete your brain from the energy it needs during the exam. If you haven't studied much, you can consider studying more.
[D-day]
6) Get your mindset right: competitive and playful."It's time to show off all the work you've put in."
----
Thank you, John, I'll try these this term and let you know how it went!
Just a heads up: number four should be under '3 to 1 day(s) out'
trust me m8 though his preparation for exam is very personalised, his mindset for the day of the test is soooo helpful and it really does up your test performance. it worked for me too. his mindset is compatible for most people tbh
thanks

You can always use his tips even after college. It's always good to learn something new, like second language.
i have about 5 years till college... who’s worse?
@@chloe-rj9ss I couldn't go to college but I need to . So that I can get a job
Hello, I got 96 on math and physics, 90 on chemistry, and 93 on advanced math, and highest grade on English which is 93. TOP ADVICE RIGHT THERE.
nice!
Das lo
@The Darkner Supreme tf? Philosophy? In my country we don't have such thing as that. And I don't major in history, so I don't do advanced history, just a simple history.
.
For biology I got 80 which I don't study at all. And the history one is 93 or 91..? Forgot but I don't care much about history lesson
@The Darkner Supreme uh, What's philosophy and do you actually think about your own existence and the meaning itself? Lol wat.
.
Besides that, I don't study Sosiology, advanced history, etc. Basically all lessons that mainly focuses on memorization skill. In my place, when you enter highschool you'll be given 2 choice to major.
.
First one is related to science ( physics, chemistry, biology, advanced math)
Second one is related to memorization (sosiology, advanced history, etc. Don't know much)
And besides that 10 other subjects that both major gets, such as religion, english-indonesia-japanish language, art, P.E, and math.
@@kevinnathaniel9231 how did u get 80 by simply not studying at all
Guys I pray for you all to be blessed with motivation and good grades 🙏🙏🙏
I like the addition of showing a picture of your schedule on the screen. Keep that going

Your words are full of support
John! The cinematography in this video is insane! Great work, I can tell you’re working hard and you’re progressing your skills loads.
About a year ago I started watching these videos, motivated myself to study through them, and now have built a habit of studying every day, helped me out so much
The mindset advice is really gold, I remember you also talked about it in another video
Thank you so much

I dropped out of college a few months back and I'm also born like a month after you and it really inspires me to see someone my age be the way that you are. You're really motivating me to get back to college with all your helpful advice that I know would definitely benefit me if I go back, especially this advice with tests and exams (something I did pretty bad in college). Thank you!
This was honestly one of the best videos I have seen on CZcams in a while. Thank you so much for putting lots of thought and effort into your content, great video!
You’re a huge inspiration to me. Watching one of your video’s gives me that extra boost of motivation I need to get back on track.
Thank you John Fish for being humble and sharing free information to help all wanting to learn efficiently. 🙏🏽
this is the first video about studying that has actually taught me something. thanks, john!

Favorite thing about this vlog is seeing you grow as a student and as a youtube creator!! Amazing editing and flow :-D
This is amazing John. I am in collage and still struggling with finding the perfect way of studying. Thanks for the great video and many tips that I will definitely integrate into my learning process.
Hey John, i'm from Brazil and i'm here to say: thank you for sharing the good information at high quality videos. I'm struggling with college and work right now, so its really good to get a new perspective of tests and how to handle all of it. Ty 😁
Great content as always. Thank you John!
I like the cheat sheet idea.
dude the last mindset part calmed me down and helped so much!!
I love how you explained everything so simple and easy to grasp :) i found that i do some of these tactics already but you have added more strategy which hopefully will be useful as this semester comes to an end!
Thank you, Josh! It's the right time for me to watch this video. My big exam is for 3 days. Thank you for the tips and inspiration. Let's do well in the exam guys! Fighting!
Been so excited for your next vlog John!
How could someone be so intelligent and simultaneously seem like such a good person ??!
Thank you John for making this video 😁
I am really thankful for this video , since I am having a midterm exam in 10 days. I am failing in getting a motivation ,now I got energised and had my mindset on getting a good result to prove my self that I am able to get a good grade than ones before . Thank you John for this great advice .
I really want to thank you for your videos and recommendations; I've been watching you since the very beginning, it's very pleasing to see your development (and even mine) video through video.
I want to enter a university that's pretty recognized in my state and for that I've been following your tips and finding out that I'm less stressed with high school and university exams. I'm really thankful. Keep up!
I love your mindset, that's something I've struggled with as I've gone in too confident and then I froze and I've done the opposite as well so I think thinking of it as a bit of a fun game to show off how much you know (which when you prepare properly is hopefully a lot!) is a great way to think about it, i'll take this mindset into my first final tomorrow :)
Love the new intro and the energy throughout this video. Keep up all the great work!
I really needed this, a level exams coming up, really appreciate it.
A new reference video for me! Love the tips and vlog style- I wanna check off tasks the way you do!
I’ve been watching you for a while and this video is very helpful.
Thank you for uploading this!
OOft love it, been watching you since forever. You're such a role model. We love you and look up to you x
What I see the best part about these videos. John Fish, you speak as though you want to help others, you are passionate about it. I am not watching some clickbait video tagline to find some basic information, although some may have them, most have information unique to you, it makes it beautiful and strong. Lastly, I have found that you would encourage others to watch something like this, write something, do something once a day to motivate yourself, as some may think it is stupid or useless, but actually, it is truly important to staying happy and successful. Keep it up my friend, stay fresh, and admire the waves.
I’m so happy I found your channel, these videos are great
I want to be an informatician as well. You are a real inspiration. I really love your videos.
I’ve always wondered how to take better notes during lectures, so this video was quite enlightening! Am having my finals now and this video is really useful especially when you mentioned about having the right mindset during test!! Love your videos, thanks John! (Shout out from Singapore)
Thanks you for those obvious but useful advice . I am going to take my exams in a few weeks and you motivate me so much ! Thx from Belgium 🙏🏼
Love your videos John!
Your video is perfectly timed with my situation.. I'm taking a high school (best in my country) entrance exam. Although I'm still a wreck, I am a lot calmer after I had seen your video,. Thanks, John. it's just a game. I'll keep playing it, no matter what.
Take a break if you need to, as your viewers we know that you work really hard for achieving your goals. The fact that you have put a lot of thought and action in these vlogs are proof enough. Be rest assured that we're gonna support you whenever you post!
I like that you keep your note-taking simple and unplugged. Fresh touch compared to most of today.
This video was actually really helpful! It's got the right timing since I'm going to have the most important tests of my entire school "career" in about two weeks. Hoping to be able to use your tips and crush it ;D Thanks for the motivation!
Amazing video John. Good mindset
These days I'm really into this channel because I can not only learn English but also better mindsets, life philosophy and so on through this channel. Thanks.
The intro is just so good I can't handle it😍you're the best in editing and filming
I absolutely love your editing!
You're a lifesaver~! Thank you for everything that you do!
Great advice this is getting me pumped for my AP world exam wish me luck!
Hi John, always appreciate how you approach a problem in a refreshing and effective way.
I do wonder, with regard to the scope of this video, rather than focusing on tests, why not strategies to better retain or apply the knowledge you learned? As I am concerned what to do with my knowledge upon finishing a course, how could I better take advantage of it, in real life not just the test?
Thanks a lot.
"And you can too"
That's why I love you
Thanks,John!You re fantastic!
Thanks for this! I'm studying for a radiology exam that I need for my dental assisting job and these concepts help a lot. I've learned a few techniques from the dentist but concepts and anatomy I will be tested on are things I taught myself by reading books and searching CZcams. It was tough to find a method of studying that worked for me since I've been out of school for awhile and I'm learning on my own. Hoping that passing this will be the first step in a new career. I'm hoping to go to dental hygiene school after this and if I enjoy that who knows maybe I'll try for dental school. Thank you again!!
Thanks for sharing this, it will surely help me with my studying habits. Im gonna have to watch this several times
Literally the best video on CZcams about this

Dear John,
I am in a Law school and it's really stressful. I really didn't know how to focus on what i was studying and i came across your videos. The most prime thing your videos have taught me is discipline. I started Working out and organizing my surrounding and sooner my mind got focused and thoughts organised. I have 3 moots and mid terms this week and i am trying the pomodoro method.Keep it up and I love your aesthetic content.
Hope you’re ok. Take a break if you need to focus on other things right now and whenever you decide to return with a new video I will be excited to watch more of this valuable content.
Thank you so much for reminding me of these strategies! 😁
Only 40 seconds into the video, but I loved the shot with the elevator opening into what I think is the Harvard Dining hall(I might be wrong on that)... I had to go back and watch that bit a couple times just to fully appreciate it! Great editing John! Its little details like that, that can make videos so much better and its great to see!!
As you write the exam,it's your time to show off and also to think of where you can be if you crack it or even give your 101%...
And
The way you ended the video... your lifestyle seemed so simple and elegant; Inspiring!
I'm going to be a freshman in months so this is a great advice! Keep posting your schedules that would be great!
I love how he said revise 3 - 7 days before the exam, l wish I can apply this to medicine ..
Ralph Atia what do you mean
He meant that 1 week is enough
Medicine has a lot more content
I mean studying means getting prepared by looking at your test material. Doesn't mean you can't keep up on a weekly basis.
These things seem like they're obvious (and they kinda are), but it's so helpful to be reminded of them! Thanks for the vid :))
Teachers should play this video in the beginning of the semister. Well done!
Hey John, I am also completing my sophomore year. Following you since a day in A life of Harvard student. Love from India.
Whoa aaj hi mai mains deke aya!
This is how I studied at uni and I can verify this works as I got an A average. This can be tweaked depending on the major and the class but very good advices!
This is a really good video John! And you’re vids in general inspires me to do better at school🙌🏽
Glad it/I could help in some way! Keep up the good work!
Loooove what you're doing , and just wanted to thank you from Paris!
You are just great! Your videos inspire me and help me a lot with my studies! Thank you!
Thank you very much for your advice. I find it incredibly helpful!
The intro was super cool man! Keep up the good work ;)
I love you John, you always make my day💖
John you are an inspiration buddy! 👍
You're getting so much more natural in front of the camera! Love to see this!!
I watched this because I have an exam tomorrow. Ended up just cramming even more information into my head ;)
Loving the daily posts!!!
Nice timing! I got a few midterms coming throughout the next several days.
I feel like a person like John fish is one in a million
Thanks John,Messed up on some of my revision of my test so thank you
Excelent advices! Thanks for the video.
I don't think you could call this a vlog because 90% of the video was about the school section but I loved it! I found it really useful and it brought me a lot more value than just showing the day.
Im in 8th grade and using tips from this and previous videos got me a 98.5% assignment and test test average.
good for you!
@@fatimahqadir4300 looking into mind mapping and memory palaces. Amazing work on your test
awesome video! I have a test next thursday and using all these tips.
I love this new style of the videos
I really liked your comment about creating the 'crib sheet' or cheat sheet. An outline of the various topics about to be covered. From there, you can then focus on specific sections and work on those a week out - focusing on doing problems.
As a recent college graduate, one of my biggest frustrations was finding the right study methods of each class. Knowing what works for you is so pivotal and that’s why I love this kind of content.
It's magnificently informative video that I actually needed and have been looking for :)
It’s funny I watched this whole video thinking you were going to give me some magical Harvard wisdom that would help me do better in all my classes. At the end of the day, I already know what to do it’s just a matter of time management.
ur so dope thank you so much for all your vids - just had my first quarter in college and it really hitttt me. taking notes and account of all your vids and I'll see how this goes. thanks in advance :-)
