      Nkiru, thank you for the suggestions. Usually, acronyms work best when you create it yourself. But let me give it a shot. I'll send a quick video.

    this is quite helpful, but has a lot of exceptions. i am currently very stuck on this topic ( and very frustrated cause seems like everyone else finds it easy ). as far as i understand this approach work only for careers/occupation/roles and doesn't necessarily on titles, and in cases with more than one person. this is so confusing 😭

    I thought the classifier surrounding whether you put commas around a name is whether the information given about a person is specific to that person or not. Like My best friend, Stacy, got me some ice cream. vs. My friend Stacy got me some ice cream. Since you can only have one best friend then that info is specific to Stacy, hence commas. And Vice Versa with My friend because you likely have more than one friend.

    Hello
    I have been putting of studying grammar rules ? Do you have any tips to make it more interesting ?

    • @KatyaTutorSAT
      @KatyaTutorSAT  Před 4 lety +2

      Rushna! Personally, I don’t have this issue. Studying grammar involves reading passages and I get carried away☺️ reading about Conan Doyle writing Sherlock Holmes; reading about Clever Birds; park rangers; social reforms, etc. Additionally, all my knowledge about environment problems and recycling comes from reading SAT writing passages. 🤣 If you practice on real SAT passages and give your mind a mental command to be interested, it’ll be a lot more fun😉 hope that helps!

    Hello, your video has created more confussion in my understanding. I was searching to get a clarity wether we put within, , the position of the person or the Name and what suppose to come first, but your video describing not to use comma if designation follows the name. I haven't seen it as on the offical documents written like this. What is the correct rule, i am still confuse, could you please help me out?

    What if the word "the" is used before the profession, therefore, allowing the profession to stand on its own?
    Like: The geologist, Lukas Harber, left the room.
    Should you place commas around Lukas Harber or no?

    • @KatyaTutorSAT
      @KatyaTutorSAT  Před 11 měsíci

      Hey Mike, it is a bit advanced. It the description is pointing to only one geologist, then use commas. Otherwise, no commas

    • @mikemcconnell9926
      @mikemcconnell9926 Před 11 měsíci

      Hello Ms. Seberson. Thank you for the quick answer, if possible I'd like to ask about something else:
      I'm a bit confused about the pointing thing, though I also read about it on Meltzer's. How do we determine if its pointing to one thing and not multiple. In this example - to me - it seems like its a clear example of one geologist since he is "the" geologist. Is this correct?
      Also, what about an example using a/an
      "A priest George Lucas entered the room" I don't know if this is even a proper sentence, my apologies.
      Thanks!
