How To Make Caramel From Condensed Milk Quickly
So, if you don't have time or the patience, then using the microwave will still give you a delicious dulce de leche in a fraction of time.
Just make sure to follow these steps in the video to get a deliciously gooey and real toffee-like caramel sauce.
Here Is How To Make Caramel Sauce With Condensed Milk In The Microwave
Open the can of condensed milk and pour it into a spacious microwaveable bowl.
Cover the bowl with a microwave splatter guard or plastic wrap, leaving a corner uncovered so that the steam can escape.
Microwave it on the medium setting in 1-minute bursts. Check the level of caramelization after each minute. Keep microwaving the condensed milk for about 8-10 minutes while checking on it after every minute and giving it a good mix so that the condensed milk would caramelize evenly.
Just make sure not to burn yourself with a bowl or hot steam while checking the progress.
So, after 10 minutes of microwaving, the condensed milk should have turned into a brown, slightly grainy-looking consistency.
I know, it looks quite bad and unappetizing at this point but doesn't worry, we will transform it into a deliciously gooey and absolutely irresistible dulce de leche in a minute.
So, if you are happy with the level of caramelization, remove it from the microwave, but if you want a darker, richer caramel taste, then microwave it for another few minutes till you are happy with level caramelization.
Now, using a handheld blender or manual mixer, blend the caramelized condensed milk till it takes on a smooth and creamy texture. Once it looks pretty smooth, and there are no lumps left, we are ready for the final but important step.
Cover the caramel sauce with plastic wrap. Make sure the plastic wrap is touching the surface of caramel so it won't get a chance to form a skin on the surface when it cools.
Now, place the bowl in the refrigerator for few hours so that the caramel would cool down and take on a thicker, richer, luxuriously gooey, and utterly mouth-watering texture.

So if I don't have the patience to wait 2 hours, I can wait a FEW hours by doing it in the microwave? BRILLIANT!!
Please do not microwave it for hours, it is going to burn. Just follow the instruction in the video.
Refrigerating still takes the same amount of time, whichever method you use. The hack is to save a significant amount of time on boiling it and overall as well.
@@FoodHow so if you wanted a warm sauce for bread pudding you could blend it then skip the cooling step?
Yes, that is correct.
Pronounced carra Mel not CAR a Mel.
Thanks for sharing the trick for making caramel from condensed milk. It's really easy.
Thanks for watching. It is easy indeed.
This was a really helpful condensed milk recipe. Thank you for providing these details
Glad it was helpful!
I have to try this! Thanks so much for sharing your technique!
You are so welcome! Let me know how it worked out.
Great recipe about how to make Caramel from condensed milk. This is fast, indeed. Thanks!
My pleasure 😊
“Dole-say-Duh-lech-ay” & “melk” were killing me
Yes, it is full of sugar, so use in moderation.
That would have been less lethal. She actually says dull-chay-du-leh-chay, as if trying to pronounce Italian.
What's wrong with those pronunciations? Sounds normal to me
Great. Glad to have found your video. This is exactly what I need.
Glad it was helpful!
I have finally found the perfect video for make Caramel Thanks for this great help

@@FoodHow notice how she's spelled "Caramel" *ca-ra-mel* not "karrmul"
Wow, this looks delicious and easy to make. I definitely have to try this recipe!
You should! Just be careful, it is too delicious. :)
Thank you! My mom opened the can up before knowing how to make dulce de leche.
:) I am glad it was helpful.
Took a risk and tried this today and it worked out brilliantly, thank you very much! I would rather 10 minutes watching the microwave than the stress of stirring a stove top pot for a lifetime or leaving in the oven. I used it immediately as it was thick enough for banoffee chocolate brownies so it was perfect 👌 👏😊
Glad it helped! That sounds like a fantastic success! I'm so glad the microwave method worked out well for you-definitely a time-saver compared to the stovetop, right? Using it in banoffee chocolate brownies sounds absolutely delicious. Thanks for sharing your experience! :)
I havent made it yet but whenever i do, this will be my method! I feel like boiling something for hours is a waste of energy when it can be done quicker.
Yes, I do agree.
Love this so much! I want to ask if there are more things you can make with condensed milk?

great, can I do it with other means without microwave?
You can make dulce de leche in a pressure cooker in the time It takes to boil plus 25 -45 minutes, depending on how light or how. dark you want It.
Great tip, thank you for your comment.
@@FoodHow You're welcome .

Sugar, corn syrup, and a bit of heavy cream until you get your consistency
Sugar butter and milk
"once there are no lumps left"
*Shows a picture of crunchy peanut butter*
There are no peanuts in this recipe.
😂😂
Nice recipe, I just love condensed milk. I'll definitely try this.. Just I have a question, is condensed milk good for our health or the normal milk?
It is defiantly not good for you; it is basically an evaporated milk mixed with a lot of sugar; normal milk is a lot better for you in that respect.
Quick question , Could I also use Sweetened condensed Coconut milk? For a Non Dairy version 😉 Thanks again for sharing this!
I have never tried Coconut milk. I think if sugar content is high enough it should work. I will going to try it soon, made me curious now :)
@@FoodHow did you try this yet?
Hi! Thank you for this tutorial but what is the nutritional value for this milk?
I don't have the exact figures, but one can of condensed milk will give you 321 calories because it is full of sugar.
Apparently there's a way to do it in a pressure cooker. Drop whole unopened can in pressure cooker and boil on high for 20 min. That's it.
Ok, thank you, I will give it a try :)
Very nice video. Can I make this without microwave?can I make it on oven?
Yes, definitely. I have another video on my channel how you can make it in the oven.
Looks tasty ..how many hours maximum can i leave in the refrigerator?
It will last up to 3 days in the fridge, probably even bit more if you want to push it.
the recipe is looks so delicious..Is condense milk good for our health???
Unfortunately not, it is full of sugar :)
This condensed milk looking are very nice and very tasty. I like this condensed milk. But this is haigenic? I like your chenel and your this video. Thank you so much for your shearing this video.
HI, your video on how to make is very learnable, i want to ask it is compulsory to add Condensed milk or we can add plain milk too??
No, plain milk on evaporated milk won't work; you need condensed milk because of the sugar. You need a lot of sugar to make it caramelized.
Cool. The stovetop method is smoother imo, but it takes so long that I never make it. So I’m def trying this.
FYI, dulce is pronounced "duel-say." Dolce is pronounced "dole-chay," so it’s easy to mix them up.
Thanks for the tips! :)
@@FoodHow : Sorry if that came across like I was gatekeeping language. I understood you perfectly well, so I was really just being pedantic. 😬🙃
Don't worry, all good :)
Looks so yummy but is there any other way to make condensed milk?
Yes, I have left the link to the description for 5 other methods of how you can make caramel with sweetened condensed milk if that is what you meant.
The way she says "dulce de leche" just kills me - otherwise, good video!
Thank You :)
you can also do it in a saucepot. Takes about 20 mins.
Good tip, thank you.
mm Radioactive caramel just in time for Halloween. It'll also make you glow green.
Yes, you can certainly use it to make some Halloween treats, but I don't think you can color it green that well.
Can I put 2 tins of eagel brand i micro wave bowl
I have not tried 2 tins but I cant see why not. However, it will most likely need longer cooking time tho.
It's easy, but can I do it in the kitchen?
Yes you can, if you mean without the microwave. Just check the description of the video.
i don't have a micro oven, how can I make that?
Check out my oven-baked method video here: czcams.com/video/OZl2klxqZWY/video.html
Does it work with unsweetened condensed milk? Thanks.
No, unfortunately not, it needs to contain sugar, and lots of it.
Thanks but I didn't have time to wait for your reply and actually it does! I don't know if you've ever made banoffee pie with it, but If so should you spread it when it's still warm? I waited an hour for it to cool in the fridge and it had gone quite stiff and scuffed the base.
I used to do it in the can but with the remvable tops now it tell you not to boil the can
I haven't come across condensed milk with a removable top, but I believe that's accurate since the pressure build-up during boiling would make it not safe.
💖💖💖💖
Looks good, but how many calories in this one?
321 calories
How is this any quicker when you stll have2 fridge it for Hours afterwards 🤔
Ijs
Looks good Though 😋🤭
Basically, it is two hours less boiling. So, instead of four hours altogether, you can get it done in about 2 hours. I hope it makes sense.
The carnivore diet has also had some really promising results. Have you tried that?
Hi it kept rising in the bowl and spilling all over the microwave.. tried it so many times it didn't work
Yes, happened to me also first time, but it will be if you use larger bowl.
I like the recipe, can I use powdered milk instead of condensed milk?
@Paul Green
No powdered milk rehydrated with water will not work, but you could do the melted sugar technique of making caramel.
Could a regular blender work?
I think it would, but I have not tried it, I was worried that it might be hard to clean later.
What if i dont have a blender, what would you recommend?
Food processor should also work I think.
@@FoodHow can i just mix it with a fork or is the consistency too crystalized?
Sure, you can use a fork, but it's going to take a bit more elbow grease than using an immersion blender or a food processor. This type of caramelized condensed milk is pretty thick and sticky, so it might be a workout! Just try to whisk vigorously to get some air into it and get any lumps out. If it feels too tough, try adding a little hot cream or milk to make things easier, though it could change the flavor a bit.
@@FoodHow oh ok, so if the consistency of the caramel is thick and lumpy then whisking with a fork is out of the question because it'll take forever.. So, a blender is a must for this recipe.. If we add hot cream then it might be caramel soup and ruin the experience..
Yes, the blender is or food processor is the best way to go.
I'm not for making anything in a microwave... that's a no-no in my home!
Yes, that is a good choice to be honest.
Mine turned out quite thick consistency . Did I do something wrong?
No, I don't think you did anything wrong. It becomes quite tick when it cools down.
Add a few tablespoons of heavy cream to get the consistent creamy dulce de leche you are looking for … add one at at time stirring after each
Good tip, Will try, thank you.
Cant I heat in a pot?
Yes, of course, boiling it the pot with the can is a classic way of doing it. If you want to do it without the can then you probably need to set up a double boiler so you wont burn it.
Is there a blooper reel? Mine went allover the microwave and then never became creamy and smooth with immersion blender. Otherwise, flavor was good🥲
If it spilled all over, it likely overheated or the container was too small. Microwaves can heat unevenly, causing parts of the milk to boil and change texture. Once it's altered, even blending might not bring back its smoothness. Next time, try using a larger bowl, microwave on medium power in short bursts, and stir frequently. Watching closely will help prevent boiling and maintain the milk's creamy texture.
@@FoodHow thank you! I really did do 1 minute short bursts at 50% power. (if my microwave was operating correctly), and I thought the bowl size was equivalent to yours, but I will watch it better. Thanks!
So it will become creamy and not just stick to the immersion blender if I am doing it correctly?
Perhaps different brands have slightly varied ingredients. Let me grab a few different ones and conduct some tests and see what happens.
I dk what I did wrong I put it in the microwave and I did put a hole on it and starting boiling
Did you put it in the microwave with a metal can?
@@FoodHow no I didn't I put it in a jug and clean film with holes
I think you just microwaved it on just too high setting.
Can you do this with Sweetened Coconut Condensed Milk also?
I have not tried, Sweetened Coconut Condensed Milk. If it has a high sugar content then it should work. I will give it a try :)

Leave in refrigerator for a few hours is how many hours?
After one hour, it has cooled down quite a lot and starts to solidify; in two hours, it is probably as cold as it can get in the fridge.
Why does mine doesn't work? After 1 min or two the milk will burst out of the bowl
Do you mean it burst out of the can while boiling?
No I mean milk burst out of bowl in microwave
Ohh, ok, microwave it at Medium: 400-500W. That should be ok.
A better way to say it... "Dual-say" "Dea" "Let-chea" (the "ea" sound as in dead)

Car Mel ? or Cara mel
caramel /ˈkarəm(ə)l,ˈkarəmɛl/ I think. As long as it taste good :)
Mine never got smooth and creamy.
Ohh, interesting, did you blend it?
It's like confiture de lait!
Is that the same as Dulce de leche?
Dul-cee de leche
I think it is Dulce de leche.
My mom make this all the time but she uses the boiling method. She says it takes 3 hours to complete. I came here for a quicker solution and your final step was to "put it in the fridge for a few hours". How is THAT (as your title states) "QUICKLY"?
10 minutes is quicker then 3 hours, or am I missing something?
Yes, you're missing something. "You said put it in the fridge for a few hours"...in OTHER words, your 10 minute method STILL takes over 3 hours. I tried it your way anyway to give it a try and the caramel spewed out of the air hole of the container, so I had to clean it up before continuing, so I split my intervals down to 30 seconds each...THEN was too hard to spread after cooling, so I had to throw it in the microwave again, just to soften it up.@@FoodHow
Let's clarify the time difference between the two methods. The traditional method of boiling condensed milk in water takes about 3 hours, and if you decide to cool it in the fridge afterward, that adds another 3 hours, making it a total of 6 hours. On the other hand, the microwave method only requires 10 minutes, and if you opt to cool it post-microwaving, it's an additional 3 hours, summing up to 3 hours and 10 minutes. So, even with the cooling process, microwaving is notably faster. Without cooling, the difference is even more pronounced, with the microwave method being just 10 minutes compared to the 3-hour boiling process. Hence, regardless of whether you choose to cool the caramel or not, the microwave technique is undeniably quicker.
Also, I never had a mess making it, probably a bad container.
Thanx for the clarification. THAT actually makes sense. Regarding the container, however. I don't think that was the reason, the milk was foaming which caused it to spew from the airhole.@@FoodHow
Ok, I see, maybe the microwave was on too high power, that is the other thing that may have caused it.
Boiled over in my mic on literally every session after the first - if you try this use a “really” oversized bowel
Thank you, good tip, a large bowl can save you from the sticky mess.
Man, if only I could find a how to make carAmel video... since I don't need carmel, but carAmel. I mean, I don't know what carmel is, but I need carAmel. KA-RUH-MEL

Alright, Thank you, I get it now, :) I didn't even realize I was doing it :)
Melk
Hi Melk, thank you for watching.
The condensed milk became so hard ihaad to throw it away....
After the cooking or after you kept it in the fridge?
dulce is pronounced dual-say btw
Thank you, there has been so many different suggestion, was not sure what was the correct one, so I just want for the most often used pronunciation. I will keep that in mind. :)
@@FoodHow maybe go with the pronunciation that is MOST CORRECT and not "most used" 😂
I don't have issue with it.
“Leave it to cool for a few hours” so it takes hours to set? Like it took hours to boil? 😂
The cooling part aside, you still have 2 hours saved that you did not have to spend on boiling.
@@FoodHow that’s very true :) in all honesty, I ended up making fudge haha impatience won today but I’m determined to try making the caramel
Great, let us know how it turned out. :)
Ummm, I ran happily to the kitchen to try this out as banoffee is a favorite of mine. Well, it kept boiling over in the microwave so I had to stopit continuously, even on a low setting. When brown, I whisked it up but couldnt get a smooth texture, it still has a slight grainy feel. Not nice. I wont be using this method again. The best method I have found is putting a can or two in the slow cooker overnight. No steamy kitchen, no effort and perfect caramel in the morning.
Oh, that is not good, I am not sure what went wrong there?
After scrolling through the comments, there are many rude people on here. And if you cannot figure out how this is quicker you must be quite thick.
Yes, I was also surprised to see how some people didn't quite understand it. :)

Dul-CHE de leCHE 💀💀
Yes, it is quite high in sugar :(
Didn’t work
This is way more complicated than just boiling a can in water lmao
Yes, the boiling method is probably the simplest.
Bruh you just switched the hours of waiting from the boiling water to in the fridge…. How is this quicker? If anything it’s more tedious than just boiling it for a couple hours.
I am a bit confused. Are you including the time spent in the fridge? If you are, then the microwave method takes 2 hours and 10 minutes, while the boiling method takes 4 hours. If you are not including the fridge time, then microwaving takes 10 minutes, and the boiling method takes 2 hours. Let me know if this makes sense.
Caramel, not coromel.
Caramel made with condensed milk is a rich, creamy sauce or filling that has a sweet, buttery flavor.
This doesn't look to healthy. And, question: what's the point of not doing it the traditional way if you still have to leave it in the fridge for one hour?
It is certainly not healthy, quite an opposite :) The traditional method will add an extra two hours to the process so you will save some time; that is pretty much the only benefit.
FFS I just wasted 3 minuets of my life. How's that quicker???!!! So if I don't have time to boil if for a couple of hours I can microwave it for 10 minutes and refrigerate it for a couple hours.....🥴
Ok, let me try to make it easier to understand. Boiling for 2 hours + refrigerating for 2 hours equals 4 hours versus microwaving for 10 minutes and refrigerating for 2 hours equals 2 hours and 10 minutes. So it is an hour and fifty minutes faster
@@FoodHow oh thanks!! I forgot you had to refrigerate it regardless so I was confused to.
Caramel not carmel
I do agree
😂😂😂😂😂😂 microwave, smdh
haha let's make it faster if your impatient but put the caramel in the fridge for a few hours. the same time it takes to boil it.. wtf
Boil it for 2 hour and then in the fridge for 2 hour makes 4 hours. So, it is almost 2 hours faster.
@@FoodHow i see but it's just funny. I still think it's a long time.. I did do the bil thing and it want that bad... thank for the tip though
Yes, I do agree, if you really want it then 2 hours is a lot to wait :)

Yes, boiling is probably healthier anyway.
