Btw the green around the rivets is totally normal on a vintage bag, and it isn't mold it's actually corrosion, much like the Statue of Liberty. It adds to the patina of the vintage bag and is actually somewhat desirable. You bag was totally fine and didn't need any repair, but at least now you have a mismatched bag. Also the shape saver will fuck up the piping and canvas at the corners if you keep it in there.
Exactly, the green is normal. I prefer a good conditioned vintage anyday. I recently had my speedy 35 vachetta I including piping replaced. It looks great so far. But I do think about how LV is not the same anymore.
I wish my LV experience was amazing like yours was. I walked I with 3K in cash, was treated like garbage, went home and purchased my Alma online.. dreading a day if I ever need to take her in for repairs.

However, since it's your bag and you are the one who is carrying it then I'm happy for you that you're more pleased with your vintage bag.
Angela it will turn green again because that is what happens to brass. Thats why I used to clean my brass bangles with Brasso cleaner. It's not something I recommend for the bag because the brass is tiny and you'd get brass cleaner on the handle. I'm happy you're pleased, but I love the history of a genuine luxury piece and I would be afraid to change the parts for new parts. I'm not criticizing you at all. My reasoning is because I saw what the older bags looked like from the 80"s and the material was much more durable and looked like better quality. I have a 2017 Speedy 30, purchased from an LV boutique . It's nice but I wished I could have gotten my hands on a genuine bag from the 80"s. Thanks for sharing. Stay beautiful !
I just got a preloved bag the same one as you and I love it! I just want to tell you that rough part of the pull tab is the natural leather is the "inside of the cow" that's why you feel rough darling, is not unfinished is just the back side of vachetta btw you look perfect ❤️

You cannot clean Vachetta leather that rich brown color is the patina over time, however you can wipe it with a VERY Very slightly dampened cloth if there’s any visible dirt

@@elsamaria7679 using a strap on any speedy that isn't a bandolier is terrible for the bag and will cause cracking in the canvas. The original speedy is not made to be used with a strap.

Be careful with the base Shapers because when/if you hit/bump the corners of your bag on something that could cause damage over time because it is something hard inside something that is soft .I use a samorga in mine that way it is softer and if I bump something it molds with the bag less likely to cause damage. if that makes any sense
Dawn Holman Yes, that's right, i made my own with a cardboard wrapped in a pretty fabric taped with packing tape on the under side. Works great ! I did that with lots of my handbags.

All you need to do is buy a Louis Vuitton strap and hook it on the handles. Go back to Etsy and buy the speedy 25 organizer from Jenny crafts. It has probably 20 pockets in it comes with a zippered pouch, holds the shape of the bag. Nothing you can do about the zipper pull unless the store could sell you something different. Lightly rub a very small amount of oil into the leather so that the things holding that strap-on are the same colors as the handles.
I bought 2 LV bag which is only used once or twice from an Ebayer lady, i bought them and they look great. Buy the bags that suit your style, the way you like to carry it, and not the trend. Many youtubers say this is good and so on but it's not you, you have to pick your desired bags

Great videos! I have the Speedy 25 Bandolier and LOVE it. The main problem I have is that the zipper opening on top is kind of small when getting things out and putting my LV cosmetic bag in. It holds a ton of things but the zipper opening...wish it was wider. I am using my pochette metis now!
They make specific organizers for all the different sized Speedys, I got mine on Pimp my Speedy, the organizer makes the bag much less of a black hole. I have a vintage Speedy 35 with base shaper and organizer. To me the 25 is way too small, but I know some people really like them. My 35 holds a ton, all my goodies plus a large agenda and a large tablet in a leather case. For me it is fine to carry just running in and out of places, but because there is no shoulder strap and the handles are rather stiff on your arm, I think if you need a bag to carry for hours it is kind of awkward. Also, as someone else pointed out, your rivets were not moldy, they were just tarnished. I would have kept them and just given all the vachetta a conditioning treatment.

You can purchase a shoulder strap and connect the strap to the hardware. They'll show you how. I got my speedy 25 for my graduation and I got the strap as well and they put it on for me. 22 years ago lmao and I still wear it!
Hi which LV store did you go to get this bag fixed? I've fixed my agenda, wallet, bags fixed multiple times in Rodeo LV in California and not once did I get an "A+" experience. It was either just good or so so.
I have a vintage mono 25 bought preloved, from 1992.(I love Speedy’s personally, have two.) Was thinking of bringing it into the boutique where I got my ebene Speedy 30 to get a few parts repaired. However, the bag does not have a D-Ring. Did yours come with one????? It’s the only thing that’s making me think it’s fake...unless older vintage models did not have them yet. Great video!

You could have bought one of my bags for less than what it cost you to buy this one with repairs. I have the same one in mint condition form 2011. You look amazing in all your videos!

Yes the problem is that LV itself contracts out the repairs! They don't have a bunch of workers at the back of their shop. And the repair guy didn't have enough of a selection to match the existing patina. A good repairer will have that and I would have insisted on it at the LV store. Also the green is not mould it's oxidation from the brass. This is totally normal and not grungy at all. This can be rapidly fixed DIY by using a brass cleaner like Brasso and some cotton buds. You must tape down the surrounding leather because the brass cleaner is massively alkaline and damaging to leather, which is acidic.Or just be really careful with the cotton buds and your polishing. It would have saved money but in this case we don't know if the leather really needed replacing or not. If the leather was broken it would have needed replacing.

Um, can you do a tutorial on your hair?! Super cute!! As the 'local shoe repair up the street' girl ; ) you might ask them what they use for a conditioner. (I don't know if they explained it to you or if you already knew it..) When you have the crinkles in the leather, it's typically from wear (of course) but also because leather does get dried out. I generally recommend a Lexol conditioner to my customers, but you would definitely want to see what they recommend - especially if they cleaned it for you. I always recommend talking with the manufacturer first before using anything, to avoid damaging it. But that may help with your other leather bags and keeping them in the best condition : ) Also, love your videos!!
Ooo, and the green stuff on the rivets - little gold thingys - if it puts your mind at easy, it's probably more oil erosion. Sounds probably worse, but better than mold.. generally happens on shoe eyelets. When the leather has been oil tanned, it kinda seeps out (for lack of a better word) and can erode around the metal. So again, at least not as nasty as mold itself! Still funky though!
So I found my mothers Louis Vuitton wallet after she past away n it was made in 1995 do u think I can just bring it in to get it repair? N how much do they charge u for the repair?
The cost is very high. I've been quoted $350 per handle, and $150 for the base of the handle. This is Australian dollars so maybe 30% cheaper in USD. It wasn't in the LV store, and I am getting a quote from them soon. My handles don't need replacing right now, so it's about planning. I have heard that the LV subcontractors don't use the highest quality leather, and you can wind up needing to replace again. Don't know how true this is, as it can depend on what you're using on the leather. STAY AWAY from magic erasers! They're very damaging to leather and break down the bonds. Very alkaline. They only work superficially. Unfortunately all the politeness at the LV store masks that they basically took this Angela for a ride. IMO. Especially the mismatched handles. It shouldn't happen.
Fashionphile is a legit site. I have made lv vintage purchases over ebay and had them authenticated with ProAuthenticators on Facebook which are always very helpful!

Ayyee 😳, I'm not sure your struggle to help this bag was worth it, the 400.00 to purchase and the 240.00 to repair may not have been a good investment vs buying a new bag 😢. Just my opinion don't be mad at me, plus your not very happy with it, I say sell it!!!! Get it out of your collection and just not let it be one of your least favorites. I know when I have a bag that's bothering me I sell or give it to any of my friends who might want it and then ..whalaaaa! No more bother ❣❣❣

You can clean that! Could have save you $ on your repair. Saddle soap takes it all off the. Some leather conditioner...

If you stuff it while storing it won’t crinkle. Be careful if isn’t stuffed while storing that crinkling part can crack......

Mold? NO it is from the brass oxidation like brass and copper it turns green. Wow! I would of walking out of the store

As the 'local shoe repair up the street' girl ; ) you might ask them what they use for a conditioner. (I don't know if they explained it to you or if you already knew it..) When you have the crinkles in the leather, it's typically from wear (of course) but also because leather does get dried out. I generally recommend a Lexol conditioner to my customers, but you would definitely want to see what they recommend - especially if they cleaned it for you. I always recommend talking with the manufacturer first before using anything, to avoid damaging it. But that may help with your other leather bags and keeping them in the best condition : )

Ooo, and the green stuff on the rivets - little gold thingys - if it puts your mind at easy, it's probably more oil erosion. Sounds probably worse, but better than mold.. generally happens on shoe eyelets. When the leather has been oil tanned, it kinda seeps out (for lack of a better word) and can erode around the metal. So again, at least not as nasty as mold itself! Still funky though!

No, clean it with saddle soap then condition. There are a ton of videos here on how to clean a pre loved bag.

You can buy a strap and hook it to opposite (as in diagonal) hardware for the handles.

The cost is very high. I've been quoted $350 per handle, and $150 for the base of the handle. This is Australian dollars so maybe 30% cheaper in USD. It wasn't in the LV store, and I am getting a quote from them soon. My handles don't need replacing right now, so it's about planning. I have heard that the LV subcontractors don't use the highest quality leather, and you can wind up needing to replace again. Don't know how true this is, as it can depend on what you're using on the leather. STAY AWAY from magic erasers! They're very damaging to leather and break down the bonds. Very alkaline. They only work superficially.
Unfortunately all the politeness at the LV store masks that they basically took this Angela for a ride. IMO.
Especially the mismatched handles. It shouldn't happen.

Fashionphile is a legit site. I have made lv vintage purchases over ebay and had them authenticated with ProAuthenticators on Facebook which are always very helpful!

Ayyee 😳, I'm not sure your struggle to help this bag was worth it, the 400.00 to purchase and the 240.00 to repair may not have been a good investment vs buying a new bag 😢. Just my opinion don't be mad at me, plus your not very happy with it, I say sell it!!!! Get it out of your collection and just not let it be one of your least favorites. I know when I have a bag that's bothering me I sell or give it to any of my friends who might want it and then ..whalaaaa! No more bother ❣❣❣
