- The subscapularis is one of those notorious muscles of the rotator cuff. When this thing becomes tight and dysfunctional it can not only cause shoulder pain and it can also ruin your posture and cause other orthopedic injuries!

I like the stretch that integrated the broomstick. Great idea!!!
Unbelievable! 7 minute video of pure gold! MUST WATCH.
Very helpful. The stick stretch was what I needed. Golf has gotten my subscap very tight and my rotator is feeling it!
Thank you so damn much, bought a theracane because of you. You’ve seriously been helping me with my internally rotated shoulders, scapular winging and upper-crosses syndrome. Thank you my dude, you’ve opened my eyes to so much, including posture. Followed and subscribed for life :,)
Had the same pain in my trap for a year of so and that exercise at 6:00 just solved it. Thank You!
Thanks for sharing this! The stick stretch really did wonders on my cuffs - with this i also figured that keeping your elbow low (humerus parallel to your body) and doing the stretch with the stick behind your back works very well too
Hope all is well with you. This was great!
Thanks so much. I wish I'd known about this work in my swimming days, but I'm glad it's here to share with my young volleyball clients.
these are great videos!!! thanks
Great stretches tips, thank you.
You are the truth I'm gonna recommend you to as much people all the best
You are a star mate
Excellent, I have severe frozen shoulder, have had 4 shoulder rotator cuff surgeries over a span of 20years and last surgery I had was a full metal jacket shoulder replacement. Its affected my neck, collar bone, humerus in addition to my new metal shoulder joint, back and rib cage so it becom8bg frozen is an understatement. This is an excellent stretch and gets in there to stretch it out enough to start strengthening the entire shoulder girdle. Thankyou for this video, its excellent!
Great video. Thank you for demonstration because it allows me to follow along with you. Gear job!
Great explanations!
Love this mate
Great info and help
Thanks so much for this!
Hey, good video. You explain thing well.
Thanks that’s very helpful.
Love the last stretch!
made simple.Great!
Great stretch. I've had pain in that entire area, extending sometimes in my pectoral and abs. Any other suggestions?
This is fantastic -- thank you so much! I had rotator cuff repair surgery on my right shoulder several years ago, and have been feeling discomfort on the left side. This has helped both shoulders. You're right: sitting at a computer all day is not beneficial!
+Lynn Cox Glad to here this helped you out Lynn!
gdam dude ur stuff really helps u need to have over 5 mil views on every vid !
+Supa jadam Haha, glad to hear that bro!
great timing with this one. I think I need it
+Adam DeSapio Hope it helps you out adam!
Greate advice
Thank you.
thank you bro!
This is great thankyou. Being an ex gymnast and now with baf posture my sub scaps is not great and very tight and locked so this is really beneficial thankyou!
Great video. Will refer many clients to it. Can you give me info on how to understand more clearly the functional anatomy of muscles in joint relation?
Thanks dude
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
awesome. thanks for the info :)
Very good
Youre a boss keep it up
Done the broom stick for 30 seconds and felt a nice pop in my shoulder joint 😊 hopefully a few more of these daily keeps my pain away
The exercise at 6:00, the one with the stick hit the jackpot! Awesome video
+Parshant Bhatia Thanks bro!
Where did you feel the stretch? I feel it in my arm and not in the subscapularis.
Good vids bro.
+jay w Thanks man!
Great subscapularus release with broomstick
Is this recommended to do before or after exercising?
Really ild video idk how liley you are to answer this but idk if im just ulta tight there but when i got work that area it feels like more bone then muscle
Thanks for the video, gonna try these techniques out. Actually I just tried the stretch but I can't get nearly the same range of motion that you do. You can almost get the forearm parallel to the ground. For my left (injured) I can only get about 60 degrees relative to the floor, and on the right, better but still maybe 45 degrees. What's the normal range of motion? Were you a pitcher or something?
+Andrew Bouis Not sure of the actually degree range for optimal shoulder ER. Was not a pitcher man. I would just recommend you do what you can. I am very restricted in other areas. Intially we are just looking for some sort of improvement and release. Increased ROM will come later down the road.
hey blake . great video and you do great all the time . i have a request for a video regarding strengthen all the 3glute muscles .
+Sai Kumar Dude, I literally recorded a video on that yesterday!
+GuerrillaZen Fitness thank you blake . you've always been so kind .
Thhaaaaannnnkkkkksss!!!!
Is it possible to work the lats without working the subscapularis ?
I did the stick exercise and my shoulder felt much better the next day and the day after. So far so good. Blake your the best.
can you make a video on how to fix overhead mobility
+Ashish Rambojun Yes, I will address that in a future vid!
Can you please make a video on correction asymmetrical collar bones?
+Slayed UrNan Yes, thanks for the recommendation!
I get nasty deltoid pain when using the stick to externally rotate and stretch the subscapularis. I do a lot of computer work and suffer with rounded shoulder, scapular winging and overactive upper traps. I've noticed I get a lot of pain in the deltoid muscles as well - is it best to start with stretching these? I currently stretch the upper traps, neck muscles and chest muscles daily.
I get it running down my tricep really bad for some reason?
Man, i got upper cross syndrome coupled with lower cross syndrome. In short my whole body is fked up, but some how im surviving. Plz could u do a vid on this, it ll be very helpful...
ĐÂŅÝŁ ĢÁŁÀ I have the same thing.
Hey Guerillazen, normally when you hit a tight spot somewhere, it hurts to release it. When you try to release that area, should you do it for a specific time, or keep going till the pain goes away?
+yun0lel You can hold it for 30 sec to 1 min OR you can just stop after you feel a release.
I'm not really sure how a release feels :P
Really tight around shoulder running down tricep.what could be causing that
I did the first stretch, and omg my entire arm felt relief. so should I study an anotmy book before I do this though?? because I don't know what I was massaging.
+Jesus T Yeah, I were you I would definitely make sure that you know where this muscle is located.
I just had an ultrasound test done, It showed a minor tendon tear and some swelling.
whenever I throw a ball or a stone using force, even just two or three times, the back of my right shoulder gets really sore. I have problems identifying if it is the subscapularis, the infraspinatus or something else. I have been following your videos but I am not sure if you already addressed this issue. You have teached me a lot, and I am happy with my progress, but this problem persists.
checking this site www.mdedge.com/jfponline/article/65084/musculoskeletal-disorders/practical-guide-shoulder-injuries-throwing-athlete, I did to myself the hawkin's test, and this is the precise movement that cause pain, according to the site this is rotator cuff impingement, and I think you have a video for that.
Can tight subscap cause tightness in rib cage/abdominals? Can this also impact erector spinae?
J L mine does greatly.
By doing that, the only thing I can feel is my lats. Am I doing something wrong?
my body goes onto one side more during handstand..and i also notice that one scapula is less depressed than the other one..do you have any idea what causes this?
+Ashish Rambojun Yeah, that are a lot of potential causes of that one Ashish! Send me an email!
How can the subscap cause neck pain, upper back pain and mid back pain?
It does speaking from experience.
My chiropractor sent me this. I just learned what a Rolfer is
Hey! Thanks for the video and tips! If you've never tried using a Yamuna Ball with the Yamuna Body Rolling method, check it out! Holistic way to release muscle tension and create muscular balance. Best balls around!
This was helpful for me, as I'm healing a frozen shoulder. What other videos do you recommend for this?
+Katrina Mikiah Any shoulder mobilizations!
dude that werewolf look is killing it
+Niklas B Haha, thanks bro.
Subscapularis is small muscle. I guess it contributes so little to internal rotation. lats and pecs mainly do that
And yet it causes so much to pain and dysfunction. Small, but mighty.
you were great in home alone 2
I have a terrible subscap, my shoulderblade has dropped significantly also. any idea what causes this??
+Timmy Tight Pants Subscap also depresses the shoulder. Maybe that is it?
Hi,
I think i have some problem with my shoulder, but i'm seriously have no idea what it is. Whenever i start doing any type of push excercise for example, bench press, dips, tricep push down, my right side of shoulder dropped down (slight internally) and around my anterior delt feel tight and feel like it's going to attach together with the pec. Even with back excercise I don't feel my right lat and scapula engage as much as the left side does, it feels as if the shoulder is not in the right place. This is make any pushing excericse to feel so uneven on the right side and i can't seems to progress with any exercise involoving shoulder (which is pretty much everything). This also happened on other excericse involving shoulder as well.
P.s. this been happenning for a while now and it doesn't bother me much when im not lifting(even my right shoulder tilted in a bit internally). I tried to strecth the pec out, do some external rotator work, and other type of things but it doesn't seems to fix any thing.
Do you have any idea what this is?
+Hoonn Chardtanin Hey hoon, really hard to guess man. Would love to assess your posture and take you through a movement screen. Might have more of an idea after that!
i have a picture of me doing a tricep push down with the cable. but the picture is taken from behind so you would only probably see me from the back view. But you could see that my shoulder is uneven. Do you think that would be enough for you? i can send you via email if you want.
I can't reach it sir
Always wanted wolverine to help me learn release techniques
How about a video for throwing athletes? Pls
Few clicks at hand massage but just a lot of tension pain at broom. Will this end overtime or should I approach from different angle?
Please be careful when pressing in to your armpit as there is a lot of nerves and blood vessels there.
@@Shemafied Well I should apply pressure right? While moving the arm. Some relieve already. The nerves won't snap I assume.
Blake got dat wolverine action going
+Chair Face Lol that's right!
snapping shoulderblades, my right collarbone broke 3 years ago, having my right shoulderblade snapping and cracking
+Lesauceify Sorry to hear that..
Did this fix it? Because I’m having winged scapula/snapping scapula.
Thanks okay for the okay video okay as okay it has okay some helpful okay content okay
Best video I've seen for this condition.
That's not active release. Theracane like that could be dangerous to the nerves and lymph nodes.
what are those PVC pipes used for in the background?
