Modified headlights, or different bulbs than what your truck came with (Led or HID).
If you've swapped your headlights on your Ram truck, you will definitely get a bulb out error message on your dash. This is annoying and potentially hazardous as the lights can be shut off by the truck because it thinks there is a short in the wire. An example of this would be if you have HID's in your low beams, and you're driving along at night and the truck decides to shut off your lights. This is an issue.
You can use resistors, but this is a HUGE PITA. It adds a lot of complexity to the wiring, and the resistors still don't always work. I had 14-16 resistors in my truck. That is a LOT of wasted power.
Now with Alpha OBD we can tell our truck what lights are in the headlights rather than trying to trick it. This is the same thing the dealer would do if you upgraded headlights with them. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thank you so much for this video and the other video about OBDlink and alphaobd. These two videos helped me especially this one because my truck was being stubborn. It kept cutting power to the right front headlight even after switching the configuration to LED. The only other one I had to change was the High Intensity Discharge headlights I had to enable. By the way I have a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport.
I can verify that changing the configuration to led on parameters actually works. I was struggling with a side marker led lamp and to my surprise this did the trick!
Sweet! It sure is annoying to have errors or have power cut to the lights altogether because of the computer
Which one did you change, I have driver side cutting off randomly. 5th gen 1500
Very informative! I like the feature to turn on fogs with high beam. I installed bi xenon kit from enlight with no trouble so far,kit was for 16 but everything seemed to fit 17 ok.
Some of the aftermarket kits seem to do okay (since they've figured out the proper stuff to use) but it is still technically tricking the computer. If you have no problems I wouldn't bother, although Alpha does a lot of other cool stuff, and if you have it you might as well!

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 I just add morimoto Xb headlights and tail lights. I did everything in your video and still getting error codes. What else am I try. Codes saying high beams out and parking and backup lights out
@@JH-ie3dv did you ever resolve this?
Seems like 14 is the problem year lol
Hey Charles,
Great videos btw.
I have a 2012 Laramie 4x4 with quads and I want to install the projector with sequential switchback turn signals but can't seem to get the DRL's to be on in Auto mode.
Can you show what needs to be changed to show that? Would the setting to have the DRL's on in auto be in the turn signal? Mine look like yours only chrome background and sequential...I want to just have the DRL's working like they do if I have marker lights or turn the lights on.
Thanks!
Good video man! Thanks for posting. Subbed and liked.
To anyone that installs aftermarket headlights and still has an out turn signal warning even after changing to LED turn signals through alfaobd: In alfaobd car configuration change under CBC I/O Usage, disable the two front door ajar switch usage settings. Those are the front lamp diagnostic circuits. This will solve it!
Thanks I'll look into this!
Mine is set to disabled and I still get the error code not sure what else to do.
Thanks a ton buddy. Fixed my Hyperflashing mirror blinker. After weeks of research i found your comment.
I tried it because I’m still getting the turn signal out errors and it doesn’t fix it on my 2015 1500 Sport! My next step is to turn off the sequential turn signals and just have them blink like stock ones do for that year and see if that solves it!
@@FetterLiebhaber53 What year is your truck and what exact setting did you disable to fix your hyper flash on your mirror blinker? There’s so many in the Alfa OBD program I want to make sure I tried the correct one!
Charles Pages, I appreciate your videos so far, but have an issue I'm hoping you can help with. I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Classic, Tradesman and swapped out the stock taillight and third brake light housings for LED's. I also put towing mirrors on (w/turn signals). No problems with the LED's until I upgraded the EVIC to a 7". Now I get "Parking Lamp out" when I hit the brakes, or use the turn signals (only when the lights are on though - no issues at all with turn signals or braking when lights are off). So, after watching your videos, I purchased AlphaOBD ($49.99), OBDLink MX+($119), & the security bypass cable ($55) ... roughly $225 and, was able to activate the turn signals on the mirrors, but can't get rid of the "Parking Lamp out" warning. Changing only one thing at a time, I've tried a number of combinations with the CBC rear LED present items ... all present, only the taillights, only the stop lights, and or only the turn signals and nothing is working. I'm running out of ideas. The tailights came with built-in resistors, but obviously they did not work, or I wouldn't be getting error messages, but I get the errors whether I have the LED present on or off. Any suggestions?
I used the global window down option to roll down my 2 front windows with my key pushing unlock 2 times and holding button letting go when I want it to stop. Worked great!
Hello sir, this is a great little video, I have a 2016 jeep cherokee trailhawk that I have put led headlights into, all sorts of headlight errors and shutting off once and a while, put the warning cancelor in and they are not shutting off now but bulb out error steady. Hope this will work.
Thanks for video. I have issue on 2015 grand cherokee, had halogens and swapped with leds low&high beams and fog lights . light work when engine is shut and goes off as soon as I start engine. hope Your video will help me to fix it 🙏
Excellent video !! Thank you very much for taking the time. I am curious of something ; can I go ahead an buy any HID kit and plug it up ..or do I still need the Mopar specific moritomo one ?. Thanks !
Any will work! The "mopar" specific kits just come with stuff to try and trick the truck...which may or may not work well. Just make sure you get the right bulb size!
Do you have to program the obd for switchbacks led im getting full power but no turn signals? I’m not really tech savvy thanks in advance
I have a customers 19 Ram 5th Generation came w/factory installed all led headlights and fogs, etc. I installed a heavy duty front bumper with winch and 2 aftermarket 4" led pod lights, soldered into factory led fog harness w/out resistors. I assumed that it started w/factory hid I wouldn't need resistor's. It's giving turn signal lights out message on the cluster(cluster image shows being the fronts). I already have to send it to the dealer to recalibrate the front Impact sensors since they are at slightly different locations than the factory bumper. Will I have to install resistor's or will they be able to clear out or make changes to clear the error? Thanks for your information. The video was well done.

Thanks for the vid. I have the same headlights and tried everything and still parking light out.
When I hit yes for the LED on it says already on. But this is the first time doing it. Any ideas?
I have a 2015 1500 Sport, I’ve switched my front turn signal, low & high beams to LED present. But I’m still getting a hyper flash on the side mirror turn signals and front turn signal light out error both right and left. Any ideas on what else I need to change? And by the way your video was very helpful!
Thanks. I was able to activate the DRL feature and keep my HIDs on.
Nice! Do you remember which changes you made?
@@chazpages I will have to go back and look.
@Charles Pages CBC Features - Bi Xenon Headlights Enable made it Yes and CBC Features - LED Low Beam Lamps Present Yes as well.
Guys I just installed Morimoto elite Xb HID on my low beams only. No harness, no resistors. Using AlfaOBD, I selected YES to VehConfig 3-High Intensity Discharge Head Lamps. No other changes. They seem to work. It’s still noon so I can’t see any flickering but they seem ok to me
I would’ve like to know what specific settings worked to resolve your error codes.
The Fog light dropout was neat tho
Question. Not sure you can help or not. I was in the middle of trying to fix my park light out with the the obd software and i somehow now have a service electronic braking system light on. Any idea what I maybe fat fingered?
Question,
How do I keep HID's in the low beams and foglights while adding led in the high beams without the resistors
I know, this is an old post. '17 Ram 2500. Alpha Rex Nova 5th gen style headlights. Worked great for about 3 weeks, then got parking light out errors. Anyway, got my OBD setup today, jacked around with it all afternoon. Fiddled with everything LED light related. No joy whatsoever. Still get a "Parking Light Out" error when the parking lights are on and I activate either turn signal. I even changed the rear settings. Exercise in frustration that tries a man's patience. Resistors are a dirty way of compensating, but I'm waiting for the set Alpha Rex sent out to me. Alpha OBD is a useful tool, no doubt. But so far the pom-pom's are still in the closet.
UPDATE: Got in my truck this morning (day 2) and just checked to see if they worked, you know, just for fun (and frustration). Guess what? NO MORE ERRORS!!! At all! Apparently I must not have let it sit long enough. So...I'll run it for a while and see if the errors return. But so far, so good. Maybe there is hope after all. ;-)
i have a 2018 ram 1500 quad and just installed AlphaRex headlights H7 does the Alpfa OBD work for my year?
Is it possible to make the tow mirror lights DRL using alfaOBD?
Cheers
I did exactly what you described, I removed my resistors and now getting a parking light out message. I switched to led settings. All my lights are working. Any ideas? 2015 Ram 2500
Do you know how to turn off third brake light warning? Bulb was removed as have cap.
Can you use any obd2 reader that pairs to your phone and what you buy the app?
This works great on a 2015 Ram 1500. Thanks a lot!
woohoo!
I have a 2015 and I’m hoping that it fixes my upgraded led headlights from going out! The resisters aren’t working!
What settings did you use specifically?
Yep I watched this video and changed them with no luck still. Once you connect to the body control module it says hint to cycle the key for 30 seconds. Is this something that's needed to be performed. I seen a pdf file for ram truck I'm guessing how ram recommends adding aftermarket lights. I'm at a lose point of what to do other then buy new halogen tail lights
The hid wiring harness in my dodge dart only connects to one side of the vehicle's factory harness (right side). So the bulb out error I get appears to just be for the left side that is not plugged in and idk how to go about fixing this bulb out error even with alfaobd. Idk why the hid harness is setup this way but the only thing I could think to solve this is have an incandescent bulb connected to the open factory harness and randomly hanging out in the engine compartment which isn't ideal and impractical. Any help would be much appreciated.
Do anyone know if Alfa OBD can be used to go from reflectors to projector headlights WITHOUT a conversion harness? Assuming I still need to harness. Thx
I upgraded from non power folding regular mirrors without the lights on them to power folding tow mirrors ( got door models from a different truck to get them to work) but now I get the turn signal light out message and it flashes fast on the dash but the only light that flashes fast is the light on the mirror…. Also the puddle lights don’t work not as important to me…Would love any advice to try to fix this if you know would be much appreciated
Just got Alfa and new aftermarket projector headlights with switchback led turn signal/drl and the truck has turned off the right turn signal, drl and now marker light. I tried what you did and nothing is coming back on and I still get the fault codes. Any advice!?
Thank you for the video! But if the rear lights and turn signals are visually in order, but the error remains, it is easier to disable the check of the rear lights in alfaobd, the menu-f pin 31 diagnostic and f pin 27 diagnostic just turn off and the error disappears from the instrument panel! Peace to all!
Didn’t work for me unfortunately
Hi Charles, i have a 2014 ram 1500 sport with factory projector headlights, i put HID's on low beam, high beam, fog, LED's on my license plate and third brake light. I've also installed the Diode dynamic's halo's and switchback's. I have the OBD Link MX+ withe alfa obd app on my android phone. I had a bulb out message for all of those, except for the hi beam ???, i was able to clear out the license plate message, but the low beam and brake light messages won't go away, even if i clear all the error code, they always come back ??? any suggestions. Thanks Ben
I have that same problem in my truck ram 1500 2017 the signal light that I have to change ???
Could use some help. I'm not seeing any of these settings for my dodge dart. I'm trying to get rid of the bulb out error for my license plate light because it is led but the only led options that I see are for turn signals and more importantly I want to get rid of my high beam/low beam headlight out errors for my HIDs but dont see any hid settings other than "xenon headlamps" which I tried to enable but keeps failing saying "ecu detected parameters with values outside allowable range". Only other setting close to that is "headlamp led management" but I don't know what that will do. I'm lost in trying to get rid of these canbus errors. I haven't even been able to get resistors to work for my HIDs for some reason, maybe I'm doing something wrong but this sucks.
Hi, can the Alfa obd turn off the airbag light too? because after I change my seat which without the airbag then the airbag light on forever even I install the resistance
Great video, I have a 2018 3500 ram but before I get the OBDLink MX and the Alfa OBD software I would need the bypass cable do you have any recommendation on where I can get one?
Same here, another video recommended a by pass device but it is now in unavailable. What worked for you ?
Hello, great video. I have question. I have a 2015 ram 2500 ST. I am trying to connect rear LED bulbs. I have did each step separately and waited. I get all my lights except left and right turn signals. The alfa obd software says LED TURN LAMPS PRESENT - YES. Any advice?
Same here with my 1500 2014 slt
i added after market led swtchback turn signal puddle lights to a ram 1500 sprt. The sequential function doesnt operate correctly. The other features work fine...any suggestions
I switched from quads to Alpharex G2 headlights and only get “parking light out” error when the headlights are on and i turn on a turn signal. I have switched everything to led. Then heard to try and use HID and i have tried a couple others too. Nothing is working for this. I have resistors but really dont want to use them if it can fixed via alpha.
Is it possible to change the voltage on my truck with alfaobd?
2015 Dodge Dart SXT using OBDLINK-MX and Alphaobd. I can't get my license plate light warning to turn off cause I'm using LED and my traction control light is now on. Any help?
CBC features, what is this mean?? Is there a website that lists what all the parameters mean that you can understand??
If you make a change and then at one point you change your battery will that change everything back
My 2013 Ram 1500 outdoorsman I put led tail lights, license plate led lights, led high output fog lights and led 3rd brake light, zero codes or issues except the license plate leds stay dim after shutting truck off for a few minutes then go off. Now, I also put in 2019 style headlights and added katana leds in the low beams projector, zero issues, but the led already in the light assembly is causing a random light out error only on Drivers side, the sound when turn signals are on is faster than normal at times, but out at the light, it still blinks normal. Odd how these trucks work.
I have hikari canbus decoder for my low beams. Will I still need that? I have no problems with my highs or fogs. My low beams are hid and won’t turn on or when they do won’t stay on
You won't need a decoder if you reprogram with alfa. The reason your lights turn off is because the truck thinks something is wrong and it cuts power. Reprogram with alfa and you'll be set.
i have that turn signal out error display on my cluster. I see the hyper flashing on the cluster when I use the turn signal, but the turn signal is flashing normal. So if I clear faults this should prevent this error code to display ?
I installed Led into both front low beams and switched on the settings to enable led low beams but still get intermittent left side bulb out error.
I tried to upgrade my Normal tail lights to the OEM led ones and one side works one and side doesn’t. Both have resistors on them and I haven’t been able to figure it out and neither does the vendor I bought the things from. It’s a 2019 RAM 1500 Classic Lonestar. It’s the same body style as the 09-18 rams and I’m also trying to upgrade my headlights to the same projectors you have but the DRLs don’t work, Do you think this OBD product will fix the issues I’m having? Also if I do make these changes, will it hurt to leave the resistors in?
This will for sure make everything work the way it should. I would get rid of the resistors, they might not hurt anything, but they waste power and could potentially cause the truck to say a bulb is out or something since it measures power output and might think something is wrong if the resistors are causing increased power consumption over a regular led.
All the resistors do is try and trick the truck, but its pretty smart and still says bulb out as you've discovered.
why dont i get the CBC config on my 2007 jeep srt when i look through the drop down menu after i select car config?
How to cut on my Cargo light that has been cut off by Factory Ram 5500 4x4 2015 was a flat plate but installed light can get it to flash in a test mode but don't know how to cut them on.
Can you define what quad headlights are? Will these settings work with the Morimoto XB Led Headlight assembly for a 2015?
If you google quad ram headlights, you'll see. Or in my other video introducing the power wagon. This will work great for the Morimoto headlights! czcams.com/video/091mJTiN17A/video.html
Hey thanks for the info, would you know if the obd scanner and software work on a 2015 dodge dart?
Same here
I have a flash blink on on my tow mirror after installing aftermarket tail lights. OEM WAS Factory-led tail light with halogen reverse. Now its all one plug instead of two and throws error could for all lights out tail light. But tail lights work normally and tow mirrors flash fast and in the dash. Not sure how to fix this :(
So I have done this and my vehicle a 2018 Ram 1500 big horn I have sequential front turn signals now with the new headlight assembly that I installed and I still get the “parking light out” error message but only when the headlights are on and I turn on the turn signal. If the headlights are off and I use the turn signal I don’t get the error message. I don’t know what else to do to get the message to go away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have AlfaOBD, I just buy GTR Ultra 2 LEDs for low beam for my RAM. Can I just put them in and program with AlfaOBD, without having to buy/install GTR’s PWM interface module? Or would I still need the module?
Thanks! Good vid
You can put them in and program with alfa, you shouldn’t need the pwm modules!
Did you still need to run the relay harness to make the lights work? I have a 2017 laramie 2500 and want to use HIDs in the projectors. I have alfaOBD just need to know if i need the relay harness
The point of making those changes is specifically so that resistors aren't needed!
I have a 2012 Ram 3500 w/Quad head lights and have installed Supernova v.4 in lows and highs. My problem is intermittent flickering of the high beams while DRL mode, but not while in Auto mode. I don't want to change the location of DRL or turn them off, but would like to see if AlfaOBD can fix the flickering. And I certainly do not want to have to fiddle with resistors or capacitors! I do have the software and can navigate the app, but man there's so many options that it's overwhelming. You can even change the voltage for the lights!
What is the setting for high beams right now? Led present or not?
One thing I've noticed in the app is that under "select control unit" and then I select car configuration change, my control unit doesn't show any LED options. I guess my 2012 is too old for LED's? Seems like anyone with 2013 and above has that option.
What settings do I adjust when installing HID's on high beems I keep getting bulb out era and light flickers on off 2017 ram projected At 1 point low beats would just get brighter and hi beam bulbs would bot do on
There should be a setting for led or hid for high beams, try that one.
Try these settings. CBC Features - Bi Xenon Headlights Enable made it Yes and CBC Features - LED High Beam Lamps Present Yes as well
I'm having the park light out message on the cluster. I followed the links you left in the description and purchased the obd2 and the alfa obd software. I've went in and changed the led setting and after changing the settings gave it bout half an hour or so and started the truck turned on the headlights and once I hit the brake pedal the message displayed again. Is their a step I'm missing or something else I need to change I've got aftermarket led tail lights and halo projector aftermarket headlights. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated
Cody...I know this is bush okie, but here is something I tried with another set of F&R's I had that I just couldn't get to work. I spliced in 4 3157 females sockets, one at each corner. That made 2 connections per corner. I put a 3157 bulb in each of the connectors I installed and then installed LED's/switchbacks WITHOUT resistors in the other four and put them into the light housings. Worked like a charm! No more errors. I epoxied short pieces of PVC pipe over all four, just short enough to protect the bulb but be able to remove it. Then I wire tied it up out of the way. Yeah, I know. But it worked great. I've since moved on and removed them, but it might be a good experiment for you.
Thanks for this video. I just dropped $150 on the OBD and the app. I have an 09 and set my LED tail, turn, and stop to "present". Still get hyper flash and error still on dash. Nothing has changed. Any ideas? Support for ALFA is extinct. Thanks.
I have a 2015 ram with projected low beams I installed Hikari ultra led when truck is off they work when start it they kick off the bulbs are h1 will this fix my issue or will I need to add decoder?
Bulbs for projectors shouldn't be H1, unless they're aftermarket lights. This can set you up right, no need for a decoder or resistor.
does it fix the flicker in high beam led bulbs. or do i need the load resistors 50w, 6ohm?
No resistors needed-it should fix the flicker.
Does it work with blue driver obd?
Does work on a 15 Dodge charger? Can I tell my car I have hid/LED lights? Having horrible issues getting lights to work
Maybe...haven't checked, but I think someone else mentioned it might. A quick search on forums may have an answer!
I have done these changes (after doing an led upgrade) but still get a bulb out message for my right rear. I even swapped back out to the original bulb and still have the message. Any idea of where to check / what to check now? Also I would like my DRL to be my turn signals (diode dynamic switchbacks) but the running power only activates the Amber color....is there a way to give it a signal to power the white side for DRL but still function with Amber turn signals?
Get this resolved? Did you try clearing out the error codes you had?
The DRL stuff I'm still trying to map out and explain properly. Although your wiring doesn't sound correct-running lights should make the bulb white, and amber when the blinker is on. Is the bulb for sure a white/amber? They also have just amber too.
Charles Pages so I ended up turning off the error code in the body for the rear (I did clear the codes, and did a hard can bus reset). But I still get a bulb out from my front turn signal, only when the headlights are on and I hit the turn signals....when it switches from the white to amber and then back to white it dings saying there’s a bulb out and then goes away directly....I just need to upgrade to the alfarex headlights lol
How do you keep your truck from One Headlight blinking out coming back on and then the other headlight blinking out coming back on it's like mine can't run the higher brightness
Hello there... great video mate.. I got the rear turn lights being burned signal on the dashboard and I can not get rid of the error or like you said ,clear the faults thru the app... you mind if we make you a video of it so you can have a look at it???
Any luck i got the same error, rear left signal out
@faresalyahya7871 u ever fixed it ?
Which program would work for a 2018 ram 1500 sport with projector lights casing. I put hid in the truck and have hikari resistors. They flickers twice and then it says bulb out on the front. What would work?
Take out the resistors. Use alfa and follow this and you should be set!
@@chazpages thanks buddy. The only thing is i have heard that the 2018 ram 1500 sport has some additional security feature that the 2013 to 2017 ram doesnt have. What would i need to bypass that so i can use this program ? Any help is appreciated ?
Hey. Got a new evic and changed my headlights to led. When I turn on my high beams I get a low beam out on passenger side but it's a false reading. Any ideas why?
Did you have the evic with the smaller screen, or did u always have the 7inch screen?
I cannot find anything to update any of the exterior bulbs to led through the Alphaobd program. I am currently using the demo to decide whether or not to do the full download. This is the main functionality I want to have for using the alphaobd system. Does that functionality not work with a 2011 ram 1500 or am I just accessing the wrong module?
I have a 2011, did you ever find an answer?
Do i need to leave the obdlink plug in after i change the settings to led?
I have a 2018 Ram 1500 with Alpharex G2 headlights. I changed everything to LED and only get the “parking light out” error with the headlights on and then use the turn signals. Using the turn signals without the headlights on doesnt cause the error.
Very useful! I just order everything and hopefully by next week I can start doing. This on my 2015 express . When enabling HID lamps on will work for all the lights low beams and fog lights? Currently I have HIDS on my projectors and also my fog light .
You'll need to adjust them separately in the app, but the settings are there. I'd change it to "hid present" and use relays...
Got it . As of now I don’t run rellays. Plug and play . But yeah this was really useful I can’t wait to do it .
Okay so i stared today doing all this. I don’t know what I did wrong that my fogs won’t turn ON at all and on the switch I try to turn it off but they Do Not Turn Off. The light keeps been ON on the dashboard even if I turn it off the light says it’s ON. Any help ?
Try this CBC Features - Bi Xenon Headlights Enable made it Yes, CBC Features - LED Low Beam Lamps Present, and CBC Features - LED Front Fog Lamps Present Yes.
So if i get an alpha obd and buy HIDs do I need still to purchase their anti flicker module/canbus decoder or does the alpha obd resolve all of this? Ive read a lot about the auto-on lights function not working after installing HIDs, I assume the alpha obd fixes that? (2014 ram 1500 sport)
Nope-the anti-flicker/canbus is to "trick" the truck. You won't need it. I'm not sure about the auto-on thing, but I think you should be good to go with alfaobd.
Did you manage to figure out the thing with auto on? I’m looking to change them out as well and trying to figure out what all I’ll need to do to make auto-on function work with HID.
Thought I would share my results. 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 here. Changed to leds and got the problem of one light constantly going out. Installed the Alfa obd and changed the led settings... did not fix the issue. As soon as I turned on the setting allowing HIDs I havent had a problem since!
Dave Rogers - did you leave the LED enabled?
I have been trying to get the GTR Armor switchback front LEDs to work in my 2015 Ram 1500 to no avail. I erased all codes before changing settings and then enabled both front LED parking/marker lights and LED turn signals. They flash correctly for a few seconds then hyper flash and then throw codes. IDK what I'm doing wrong! LED high and low beams work great.
I also bought switchbacks, but I don't have LED high and lows beams installed. So I Enabled LED "front turns", and "park/markers" at first like you with no luck and then LED "DRL present" to still throwing codes. I think it has to do with either the "HID" or "Xenon" setting he was talking about around 4:08. Since I don't have HID or Xenon headlights I didn't enable these settings and reverted back to my old bulbs and settings. I may just buy LED headlights and try it again.
Yeah, like thedieslexpress said, try out some of the hid or xenon settings. Or, run the thing that shows you every code/setting (literally shows every setting your truck has and what it is "set" to) and see if it shows as actually changed.
@@chazpages I tried activating HID in Alfaobd but it did't help. The really weird thing is that they work perfect with the headlights off. I have DRL activated on high beams at low voltage and the turn signals work great even with DRL on. When the headlights come on, and I turn on the either turn signal, I first get the marker light malfunction message, followed by the turn signal malfunction message with hyper flash. I can erase the codes with AOBD and they work again for a few seconds. Very frustrating!
I tried to change the configuration to led on my turn signals. It's not changing on my 2012 dodge 1500
I wished AlphaOBD app would put a check mark on the settings that has been changed and completed so you know you done it in the list as well as have a running settings change list you can refer back to so you can keep a log on what you have done
That's an EXCELLENT suggestion!!!
How to change the rear signal light to led ? I don't know why it won't work for mine so i might did it wrong ?!
Same
Hello, thanks for this genial apps. Is it also compatible with Ram 1500 2019?
I believe so. You need a bypass cable installed (at least on the 2018 you do) so I'm sure 2019 does too. From my quick research it seems that you have to choose 17/18 model but it works for many of the settings.
Classic 2019 classic only and like he said u need the security bypass harness. I use this i just pick 2017. Works the same
Just to make sure I understand correctly do I need to swap the setting to led present for HID swap or is there a separate switch for HID I missed? I'm changing low, high, and fogs to HID! Thanks for the vids sir much appreciated!
There isn't other settings for HID that I know of. I would try changing the stuff in the video I mention first (after the HID settings) and go from there. If that doesn't work, then try out the HID settings present/not present.
Don't forget to post up what your results end up being so others will know what worked for your setup!
Try this CBC Features - Bi Xenon Headlights Enable made it Yes, CBC Features - LED Low Beam Lamps Present, and CBC Features - LED Front Fog Lamps Present Yes.
So what do eliminate once I change the setting? I have the relay, resistor and I’m assuming I have to use the ballast.
I’m assuming I can eliminate the relay and resistor?
Leave the relay, get rid of the resistors. Ballast will stay.
As for the relay, you can get rid of it, but I'd probably just keep it. It will ensure your hids get the power they need, and can help prevent issues with hids not firing up/working. Some guys have luck on factory wiring, some need/like the relay.
Im getting rid off my resistors from my Morimoto harness but im having a extra plug from my original oem harness does anybody know the correctway to plug everything without the resistors?
Was it where the resistors plugged into? If so you can just leave it (covered of course). Or do you mean a different plug like where it would normally plug into a bulb?
Hey man got a ? For u. I got a 2018 ram 2500 n did some halos DRL boards switchbacks(the retrofit source) n I got hyper-flash only on my mirror turn signal other lights r working fine and a message on my speedometer that my left turn signal is out. Any idea how to fix it? Thanx
Do you have alfaobd? That should solve the problem for you. You'll need the bypass thing which is about $50 though (18+ need it).
Charles Pages yes I do have both already n try it but didn’t work it still the same?
Charles Pages ever figure it out ?
I have led halos as my turn light. I’ve changed them to led in alphaobd but I still have the bulb out indicator
I'm having the same issue.
Try this:
CBC Config I/O Usage:
__________________
Front Driver Door Ajar Switch Signal Usage (Lamp Diagnostics): Disabled
Door Ajar Switch Signal Rear Left Usage (Lamp Diagnostics): Disabled
I installed aftermarket projectors on a 2014 sport and since then I have turn signal code and hyperflash do you have the solution? Thanks 😅
Disable driver and passenger door ajar setting. The blinkers send a signal through the canbus there
2015 ram 1500 morimoto XB LED swap and the AlphaOBD w/configure program = 👌🏽
Silentman08
I just put Morimoto XB LED on my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 and I am getting all kinds of codes. What did you do to stop your error codes? And I changed all settings to LED and still getting error codes
J H I didn’t have any error codes , low beams turned off after 18 mins only . Otherwise mine work just fine
Silentman08
Okay thanks I will keep trying
J H I have the morimoto resistors and disconnected the green wire . My truck had stock projectors
Let me know if you can't get this figured out.
I have a 2018 ram and i have the canbus bypass and the mx.
what body computer should i conncet ?
plus everytime i do a change nothing happens.
Luis Omar Guzman me too . I want to know as well
With my 2019 I just connect to the newest year available. Should work...
i use MY2018 powernet.
I had a rear bulb out so I simply replaced it with a bulb from Auto Zone. Then I got the message “parking light out.” I got the OBD link and the software, found the error code and cleared it but the next day the same “parking light out” message appeared??? Any suggestions you may have to clear this up I’d really appreciate it. Thank You.
Just for anybody else that may be frustrated like I've been with these bulbs... MY SOLUTION; Went and purchased 2 "OEM rear bulbs" from my dealer (about $7 each) then cleared the "bulb out" error code with the OBD Link and ALPA software. "Bulb Out" is finally gone!
Will this work for flickering ?
Doing the same install I suppose, I have a pair of Limited Headlights that I'm trying replace from the halogens, I heard in your video that you made your own harness, would you have any details on that? Would really really help, I tried but im stuck in the clutter and I really don't wanna have to pay 175 USD for one, please help!! Thank you
It was less of making a harness, and more just running the wires out the back of the light and tapping into my factory harness. I didn’t exactly make it plug and play haha
I recently installed LED turn signal bulbs. The parking lights are white and the turn signal itself flashes orange. When transitioning from the white parking light to the orange flashing turn signal the truck displays an “parking light out” message. Is there a fix for that also?
Did you get this fixed? Got the same error
Do you need a relay to keep power through your HIDs after enabling everything in Alfaobd?
No, but I would recommend it. HOWEVER, you will need to have something plugged into (most likely the passenger side, the way relay harness' run) or the truck will say bulb out. A small led bulb works just fine. The computer otherwise thinks a bulb is out because there is nothing plugged in/using power.
@@chazpages hi! i am trying to do the same (HIDs on my low beams), i have a relay installed on both lights. i am still getting a low beam out error though. where am i suppose to connect the small led bulb you mentioned here? thanks.
I installed a H7 HID kit with a H7 specific harness and still get the bulb out error for my right headlight even though I have changed the settings in Alpha Obd. All my lights are working like normal. Any ideas.
Apparently 2015 rams can programs are different from 2014 and 2016. I am running morimoto headlights with resisitors. Has anybody figured out the secret combination? Dealerships are no help, they say it isnt possible due to pcm not having enough output power.
Which settings have you adjusted? I switched to a 2015 as well, and there I think I had to have led and hid both selected to get the passenger side bulb error to go away. I wish there was more “detail” regarding rams weird logic lol.
Are the resisters inline? Too much power draw can trigger issues too. If so (inline resistors) fry bypassing them and see if it helps.
So I installed led license plate bulbs and followed your instructions and it still says bulb out. Has anyone resolved this problem
What specific error code/bulb does alfa say is out? Look in the diagnostics
Nothing working for me
I have diode dynamics leds sl1 in low beams with canbus modules connected in line. Was having issues with one headlight goin out every other day. Got alpha obd an changed all the settings on this video. Now i have no headlights. Driving me crazy. Any ideas?
What year is your ram? I have a 06 . 1st year they started with the tipm crap
Have you removed the canbus stuff? And reset all the error codes? Diode makes some great stuff. Start by resetting everything, then make sure to change only one thing at a time, wait 5-10 minutes then go back and change another. Changing multiple things at once don't always save for some reason.
Do you still need anti flicker modules after adjusting settings?
nope!
After enabling the HID option, did you get rid of all the resistors?
Hell yes! so happy to remove a dozen of them (or more).
Where u buy obd adapter
