      I never waited all that time either. Never an issue. I think 5 mim is just a time that people.pulled out of their hat and said "this should be safe".

      @tadawsonX Před 6 měsíci

      @@nsboostFWIW, non volatile memory (what stores the options) writes in milliseconds. Any wait is either "derp factor" (likely) or waiting for a change to propagate (if other modules need to update). I've never seen any other OBD based tool need a wait, and since this is still OBD, doubt this does either . . .

    Adam, on my last Ram service the dealer upgraded my system so that if I open my door while in drive or reverse the truck goes into park automatically as a safety upgrade. I did the alfaobd DRL thing and to check them all I have to do is put it into reverse with the brake on then open the door let off the brake and the truck goes into park while the shifter is still in reverse. I can get out and my DRL's will be on so I can check them. 2015 RAM 1500 express

      So question (a) yes, the OLED strip will work without AlfaOBD. I tapped into the parking lights. (B) NO error message will be received if you have the 3.5 Evic. If you upgraded to the 7 inch evic, you will get a bulb out message. This is something I've been dealing with for a while. I think I'm just going to run the line to the ACC.
      Question (c) AlfaOBD is not required to install these headlights as long as you stick to the original halogen setup..

Because when I installed my 7-in eVic I get that stupid error message and I can't figure out anyway to get rid of it. I've tried a bunch of things. So my conclusion is rewiring to the ACC position.

      It may not be possible for the dealer because when they put in your vin some things are grayed out that they cannot do. With AlfaOBD all options are available. The only downfall is you have to be very careful what you change because it may not have been an option for your truck / car.

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Andrew, It is working the way it should. I have the same problem because alfaOBD doesn't offer this function for the parking lights.
      It offers DRL for the turn signal lights (which are amber)
      A lot of us have been waiting years for an update, so we can enable parking lights as DRL. Then it would be the white light.

    Do you know what the difference is between Canada/ Europe/ Optional DRL?

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 4 lety

      Great question!
      Optional means just that. gives you the option to turn it on or off at will.
      In Canada it is law they have to have DRL on all the time. So there is no option to turn it off. I'm not really sure what Europe has going on though maybe somebody else can chime in.
      Or you can ask the fine folks in the RAM forum

    Ive got a '16 1500 and i cant get the DRL to activate. It says change complete and i turn everything off, leave the truck for 5 minutes and still nothing. I got it to change the LED tail lights and windows down but the DRL still not working? Any advice?

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 4 lety +1

      DRL only activities when the truck is in drive and with the E-brake not engaged.
      My advice would be to go to a place where there is a window and put the truck in drive and see if DRL is actually engaged......
      Or have someone else in tbe truck put it in drive and look at it yourself.

    Hi. I recently bought a program to have my DRLs on my ram 1500 Laramie on when I put it to drive. But now I want to get rid of them cuz I have switchbacks. When I put my truck to drive, the DRL turns to yellow instead of white. I rather have white than amber. Can AlfaOBD disable my DRLs? Like turn them off and make my headlights back to normal?

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, AlfaOBD can turn off DRL as well as turn it on.
      All you really have to do is pretty much the opposite of what I did in this video to turn them off.

    Hey Adam it’s me once again. Two things DRL still a no go, so question is did you have to turn on DRL in the radio or the cust fiction in OBD and if you did does it show on the console of the Tesla screen? And since I’m on here led turn signal solutions that you give me before still not working I have used the same bulbs as you since they are working for you since the lights are the same. Starting to think pervious owner wired the lights differently is my issue. Also have you had to add any resistors to stop the switch back low voltage drop out?

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 3 lety

      Hey Nathan, I just responded to one of your other questions you asked last week, sorry it took so long to get back to you. So in my Tesla style radio I do not see DRL in my functions. I turn it on with alfaOBD and it just flat out worked. are you keeping track of all the changes you're making so you revert back?
      So in my particular situation I'm still getting the bulb out on my front turn signals. I think for me it is because I tap the Oleds into my parking lights. I am pretty soon here going to figure out a different way to rewire them so that message goes away. I never had a message when I installed them because I had a 3.5 inch eVic and it is less picky. But soon as I put in the 7-in premium eVic all the sudden it lit up with errors.
      So I guess my question is are you sure it is your switchbacks? Have you tried taking the switchbacks out and putting regular halogen bulbs in to see if the air goes away. Where did you tap your OLEDs into?
      This is definitely one of those problems that you think is one thing but it's definitely another.
      Also are you in the RAM forum?
      If not here's the alfaOBD thread.

    • @bigdaddyshouse
      @bigdaddyshouse  Před 3 lety

      Yes it works in auto.
      However if you have the Tesla style radio, there was an early bug in it where it kept the headlights on all the time. So in this case you would never see the DRLs because the headlights would be on. Phoenix automotive has a fix for it that you can download to a USB and then upload the file to your Tesla style stereo.
      Hope this information helps out man.
