You'd better have it checked mate. I was like you and never used to give it a second thought, until i've suffered an heart attack 3 weeks ago.
It turned out my cholesterol was through the roof. I stopped taking my medications 2 years ago when i started Keto diet, thinking i knew better.
But if you're like me with the high cholesterol running in your family, you're affected by Familial Hypercholesterolemia which means that regardless of what you eat your cholesterol will always be high, and that you do need the statins to keep it in check.
Do not take everything said in this video at face value, because you and i are different and we're in far greater danger of developing cardiovascular diseases.
And bare in mind i am very fit, i go to the gym and keep my weight down, and i can honestly say i've got the keto duet to thank for it. But even so the keto also gave me high saturated fats, which increased my cholesterol, which clogged up my arteries, which gave me an heart attack that could have been fatal. You need to take the saturated fats out of your diet, and you must absolutely keep your cholesterol under check, failure to do so and you might end up like me.

Not true. LDL provides nutrients to the brain. When I read that 10 years ago, I realized why someone I knew died of Alzheimers. It made sense in an instant. The fact that it is documented now doesn't change the obvious. If you block the mechanism that carries nutrients, you will suffer. Lowering LDL has terrible effects, not no effect.

He tried everything from diet and exercise to drugs, nothing made a difference in his Cholesterol levels. In his 80’s, due to a bad lead on a stress test, he was subjected to an unnecessary angiogram. After the procedure the cardiologist literally asked him “Doc can you tell me why we just did this angiogram”. It was then they discovered the bad lead problem. However, the interesting part was when they reviewed the angiogram they could find no significant changes. I weaned myself off of both of the poisons my doctor FORCED me to take. The two meds were for cholesterol and blood pressure. She actually threatened to send me to a (government) psychologist for disagreeing with her. Needless to say, I stay as far from modern American corporate doctors as possible now. I am no longer the government's or industry's guinea pig, a royal subject, nor their personal property!
The statin was for the cholesterol gave me actual bouts of temporary amnesia. I would not know where I was, though everything looked familiar, for up to twenty minutes at a time. It would occur during my commute to/from work. The first few times was terrifying. She said I was imagining it. Since then, I learned this is not an uncommon side effect.
For the blood pressure meds, I went full keto and eliminated as close to 100% of carbohydrates as possible form my diet. It took a year, but I lost nearly 60 pounds (210 down to an average of 155) and now my blood pressure is a solid, pressure gauge calibrating, 120/80. Easy peasy.

I REALLY appreciate your message.....I'm on two blood pressure meds for about three years now, due to supposedly having a 'weak' heart...plus a defibrilator installed. I keep vascilating between keto and carnivore...can't make up my mind which to do. I am also about your weight...actually 194 lb or there abouts. I want to get down to 165 (I'm 5' 8.5...having shrunk from5'9.5"..I'm 79.) Eliminating carbs isn't toooo hard, tho I LOVE potatoes in any form...esp. scalloped and potato salad. Maybe having one of those once a week wouldn't be too bad...also half my raised garden bed is planted in potatoes!!!.and I just bought croissants as they are part of a breakfast (once a week) in the French Women Don't Get Fat book. So I think I can only LOWER my use of those carbs....not totally eliminate them. Any suggestions you might have about all that would be greatly accepted.....thanks for your comment above!. And..by the way....my blood pressure recently has also been similar to yours....since doing carnivore for a couple of weeks.....118/93.....and at my doc's office this week, 112/78.

I quit taking Lipitor a long time ago. The side effects were awful. My endocrinologist wasn’t happy. My last cholesterol test was 95. Which is a healthy level. I’m a T-1 insulin dependent diabetic. I did research on cholesterol lowering meds and I found that they only help 1 out of 100 who take this medicine.
I eat a healthy diet and avoid restaurant and processed foods.

My mom's doctor (she's our family doc) wanted to put her on a statin. I pointed out mom's great numbers for triglycerides, HDL, and A1C and the doctor still wanted to do it. I brought up the different sizes in LDL and she said even if they did that test, the outcome wouldn't affect the treatment. We agreed to get mom a calcium score before we move forward with a statin. I like this doctor, she's very kind and capable, she just gets hung up on the wrong numbers.

When I First told the Dr she lowered the amount of plavix to the least she could give me, then after coming out of the plavix fog I stoped the the cholesterol meds because every one of my joint hurt . In April of this year I was 7.4 a1c on my blood sugar last week I was 6.4 a 1 c down 2 pant sizes and lost 30 lbs again thanks to you Dr Berry keep up the good work !😃
