Poor Viserys can’t catch a break, Paddy Considine is fantastic. I don’t own anything, just mashed some things together for fun.
Update after 100k views: I'm so glad to see more people than just me appreciate Viserys, enjoy Paddy's wonderful performance, and are loving this show.

I think he does care. He attends all small council meetings, he regularly sits the throne to delegate authority, and every major decision is that is made by lords in his council or realm in general, he’s had some say in. He’s a decent ruler. The issue is that he should’ve never kept Otto as his hand. The Dance of Dragons was gonna break out regardless because Otto was plotting against the princess to use his grandsons to take the throne. Otto started this mess the moment he told Alicent to wear her mothers dress to King Viserys bed chambers

I bet if he had spotted them kissing and then them running off, he would have absolutely lost it.If they did get to dragonstone before he could have them caught in kinglanding, he would have been absolutely pissed. And so would the Velaryons.I imagine Viserys would probably want Rhaenyra disinherited after that, as he already gave her multiple chances, let her choose her own suitor which she failed and cut her tour short, she snubbed his most powerful ally, and ran off at her own wedding with all the lords there. That would be the final straw, you can see how angry he is and how displeased he looks, he only ignored it because of the fight and then the fact she did marry Laenor anyway. And Daemon? either he banishes him, or forbids him to ever leave Driftmark with Laena who he will marry again.

Incorrect. Viserys and Ned are completely different characters.
They have one thing in common. They are good men at heart who try to do what they feel is the right thing.
Besides that, they are nothing alike.
Ned was very strong. He earned the respect of everyone he met and most people who met him admired him. He was a fantastic leader for the North and had absolute loyalty and respect of his bannermen.
Even in Kings Landing, where he did not enjoy the politics and scheming, he still showed great strength (though not great wisdom).
He had the strength to strip The Mountain of his titles and sentence him to death and order the most powerful man in Westeros (Tywin Lannister)to KL to answer for the crimes of his bannerman.
He had the strength to call out his King and friend in front of the small council.
Whether these were smart decisions is another matter, but they showed a certain strength/steel that Viserys has not shown (other than the Throne scene).
As it was said, Ned was the true steel.
Viserys was forever bending or looking the other way when the shit happened. He hardly ever stood his ground. Not with Daemon. Not with Rhaenyra. Not with Alicent. Not with Otto. They all took advantage of him or simply ignored him amd there was no pushback. His weakness did help sow the seeds for the dance of dragons.

@@HolyknightVader999 First off Robert was already on his fatal hunting trip when Ned got the proof.
Secondly, that had nothing to do with balls or strength and everything to do with Ned’s own sense of morality.
Ned didn’t fear telling Robert. He had ethical qualms with what Robert would do when he found out (i.e kill Cersei and her children), which is why he chose to confront Cersei first instead and tell her he knew the truth to give her chance to flee with her children.
Now, we both know that wasn’t a smart decision, but the mistake was made not out of weakness, but compassion and mercy.
Being strong does not equal being a cruel and merciless asshole.
Ramsay and Joffrey were both merciless assholes and Joffrey was the weakest monarch we’ve seen on GoT or HoD, besides Tommen.

The war of succession was not ensured by any means. It was simply an accident that Alicent misunderstood what he said on his death bed. Otherwise she had already made peace with Rhaenyra being the Queen. So I don't see how you can say he made unreasonable decisions. He did put the realm first by not leading it into war and tried his best to keep the family together. Not doing that prompted Otto to turn Ironrod and Tyland Lannister against Rhaenyra and crown Aegon as king to spark the whoel conflict.
And not marrying Laena Velaryon was stupid as heck because it pissed Corlys off so much so that he left the small council and allied with Daemon. Alicent was what, 2 years older? As far as Game of Thrones characters go, Viserys probably had one of the better deaths in the show when you consider most people get stabbed

I didn't believe his death would affect me so much. And now, i'm grieving for him. I will miss him vero much, but i'm glad he will finally be by Aemma and Baelon's side again. That's what I like to believe.

@@cristinademartini6653 Same. I lost control of my emotions during episode 8. Watching him basically crawl to the throne one last time got me emotional. Then, Daemon helping his brother up and putting the crown on his head broke me. Watching him enjoy one final meal with his entire family made me wish that he would live and witness a lot more nights together with them. He is now my second favorite character ever, first being Ned. I love the two guys. Good people in a terrible world!
