It’s the fact that the parents or grandfather didn’t get this kid help after finding out he set the fire to kill the little girl, for me.
It’s mostly the grandfathers fault as he did everything to cover it up to prevent it coming out he has it
@@michaelcollins2030 Oh ok. I didn’t get that part when I watched.
Yeah rich people hate mental health. It’s a “sign of weakness” 🙄
@jwal1992 Ya till that "weakness " is in a stage where money can't you out No way(as if it never did anyway might I add)
@@jwal1992I agree.. but not just rich people .. society itself likes to 'look the other way' also known as 'sweeping it under the carpet' when it comes to mental health. Globally, not enough is done in terms of early intervention... Sadly 😢 I'm speaking as an advocate because I suffer from mental health issues myself AND have University qualifications in both psychology and social work (and that's not all). I'm currently a 'peer worker' in australia which means I work in the mental health sector advocating for patients who cnt advocate for themselves. Oh and not really relevant but I'm a zookeeper as well... I just thought I'd throw that in there because I'm a very empathetic person in general :)
Skoda and McCoy starting at 5:59 is one of my favorite exchanges in the whole Law & Order canon.
Yup attorney and psychiatrist get info about bipolar disorder
In reality, the police would probably not even have written a report about the answering machine message complaint...
Really? Well that’s not good.
well they had to if it was part of a confession cause then how else would they say they got the confession. So it would be in a report if it was about a part of a confession . but the show reports story’s I believe some probably fake.
@@nailsbyaraceliii "Stanley somebody who's a fashion photographer someplace, lives in some an apartment probably in a building at Riverside + 114th and has a message about the murder of somebody who might be named Dee Dee. Thanks for coming in."
I believe that's as far as the investigation would have gone with all the other ongoing murder cases in NYC - I could be wrong.
@@ValdezJu i’m not talking about the show i’m talking about reality when they report.
The only way this is plausible is if the woman who heard the message was a cop or someone who had some special pull down at the police station.
7:37 - Michael O'Hare, a talented actor and it is so sad with what happened to him, I was very impressed with him when he played Cmdr. Jeffrey Sinclair on Babylon 5.
Movie Star Robert Vaughn plays the kid´s grand-father on this episode, couldn´t get any better.
Robert Vaughn got stuck in B grade horror movie cycle in later part his career. I thought his best work was Bradbury Theater series. And regular in ITC production, The Protectors.
@@paulhunter6742 I know , but no one can take away his greatest performances: a role in The Magnificent seven as the coward guy of the gang and a spy in The Man From UNCLE.
Those roles are his finest work.
And a columbo episode
I just watched a L&O clip with David McCallum. Now, Robert Vaughn!
This is the episode that started Adam Schiff’s re-election saga, an arc that lasted the rest of season 8. The boy’s grandfather, a powerful kingmaker in NY, was upset that Schiff prosecuted his grandson and revealed his mental health issues (which the grandfather also suffered from). So he backed an ambitious judge, Gary Feldman, after supporting Schiff for years. McCoy gets tangled in the political tussle when, two episodes after this one, he lies about hiding a witness statement in a drunk driving case being heard by Feldman, who vows - and later follows through - to have him brought before the judicial committee on ethics charges. In the season’s last episode, Ross testified before the committee in her last episode as a cast regular. As we know, Schiff survives the election and McCoy avoids disbarment
Thanks for filling in the blanks, I just saw part of that episode but couldn’t follow what was going on with the case
Good luck in the polls!
Didn’t the grandfather obstruct Justice here? Shouldn’t he have been in jail?
@@RLucas3000he has the same ilness as his grandson he would bee incompetent to stand trial
@Law and Order • Excellent editing from the cold open to the end in the courtroom. I wish you would do this on ALL your clips.
this isnt twitter
How come grandpa wasn't charged...He's just as guilty as the kid...👀
Not guilty of the murder. He merely told the kid not to confess.
In jurisdictions where concealing evidence is a crime, it is usually just a misdemeanor - the statute of limitations was likely expired and, even if it wasn't, it would be a few months in jail or a fine of a few thousand dollars (for a character who was an incredibly high powered businessman worth nine figures).
@@RLplusabunchofdumbnumbers he’s not guilty of murder but to me the grandpa is an accomplice to murder in this situation for trying to let it go!
@@nailsbyaraceliii its exceedingly hard to prove accessory after the fact
if he's especially cold hearted all he has to say is "i didnt say that to him" and itd be his word against his grandson
and since the kid already confessed to hearing voices, his credibility isnt exactly high
@@mrroboshadowexactly
What bothers me is I’ve been on Peacock, they don’t have any of the older seasons of law and order, the farthest you can go back is to the years with Miss Sullivan. Don’t get me wrong Serena was good, but I would like to see older episodes with Miss Carmichael.
Buy them
They're not treating Johnny Boy Soprano with the respect he deserves.... That guy ruled North Jersey back in the day
aye! gabagool!
But he was no Rocco DiMeo. Toughest guy in Essex County
But did he have the makings of a varsity athlete?
He played ten roles between three different Law & Order series; four on the original
And the parents thought it was a good idea to have him around the little girl when they know he has multiple disorders 😑 poor girl
They didn’t know his grandfather tried to cover up his mental illness as it would link back to him as bipolar disorder can be a inherited condition
This gives people with mental disorders a bad rap, yes some of them are bad, but most of us are just trying to live life
This same attitude you have is reflective of what killed the girl to begin with. You can't just toss a rug on the issue at every turn. The parents didn't 'know' anything but that he had issues, so they shut him out when they could have helped him. If they had helped him, he would not have killed the girl if he was only bipolar - which is very treatable to the extent that one can live normally with it. Enough to be stable. A failure of this program is that it seemingly lumps in schizo tendencies with a mood disorder.
mentally ill people can be around their siblings little or not. thats some fucked up and very ableist thinking
Or, they could've gotten the boy help. Both of them would be okay. Your way of thinking is pure Right-wing idiocy!! 🙄
Lenny Briscoe is also good, and Benjamin Bratt is a looker! I love this show.😊
I'll never frogive Benjamin Bratt for how he did Miklo in Blood In Blood Out
Now I’m addictive to these clips lol
One of the reasons why I wanna get the box set 😊
Remember the Shield? 0:20 That's Aceveda's wife. Remember The Spranos? 0:51 That's Johnny Soprano. Tony Soprano's father.
I'm pretty sure, L&O had had the cream of the crop, of the acting industry. TV, theatre and movies alike. The G.O.A.T. of TV show.
Best detective duo in the series. RIP Lenny
Johnny boy Soprano had an airtight alibi. “I swear to god tha car broke down! Tha timing belt! We hadda stay at cousin Jimmy’s”. 😂
Best TV series ever.
The late, great Michael O'Hare from BABYLON 5 in the courtroom scene!
Yes, it's good see him least still acting even non speaking role.
An interesting fire bug for an interesting episode
A lot of big names in that court scene. Some no longer with us.
The actor played Cmdr Sinclair, in non Speaking role here, from SF series Babylon V. He had leave series because having mental issues.
According to imdb, the actor Bob Dishy is in this episode. He played sgt. Wilson on two episodes of columbo!
His life up in smoke.
Nice
The actor playing Terry Lawler is the same one who played Barry in Close Encounters or the Third Kind.
Pretty epic hearing Lennie and the Lieutenant saying my name (Dena) in an episode!
Oooh, Johnny boy!
Ahh Dr. Skoda😊
Mimi-siku from Jungle 2 Jungle. I knew the fire bug looked familiar!
And this is what he did with the fire from The Statue of Liberty.
Jerry The King Lawler!!!!! Wooooot
Dano is awesome as always

A Big Case come a big problematic from family
How old is this episode? J.K. Simmons looks so young.
Late 1997- mid 1998 is season 8 airing
@@ScarletRize ~ Many thanks
Quick way to figure it out: For the OG Law & Order, the season number and the year end number are the same, with Season 1 being 1990-91. So, Season 8 was 1997-98, Season 14 was 2003-04, etc.
what's Dr. Cuddy doing in the start of the clip??
Tenzin!
My aunt has bipolar, she takes meds for it, better than she used to be
5:27 anybody else notice she left the stroller with the barely-todler agreed child just sitting in the middle of chaotic sidewalk turning her back to run up the stairs and embrace the older kid that was already on her way down...?
The Irish accent 🤣🤣🤣
Standard Irish accent as performed by an American actor.
I can only assume it's taught in acting classes in the states.
Johnny Boy Soprano!
Wait that's the guy from Carlitos way!!
The ultimate block, and she was pretty cute too.
It took me a minute to realize this kid also played in Disney's Jungle to Jungle 😮
And he was in Veronica Mars, too
Sam Huntington.

When I was two my mom ran a small day care and had me (2) my older brother (5) and another 2 year old an 8 year old and a 7 or 8 month old in the house and we living in a cul-de-sac and my 15 year old half brother was across the cul-de-sac at his friends house and a man threw something in our garage which was attached to the house and the garage caught on fire which caught the house on fire and luckly my mom heard some noise coming from the basement( what was attacked to the garage) and my older 5 year old brother and the 8 year older were able to run out on there own and my half brother and his friend realized that our house was on fire(it spead very fast) and my half brother ran into the burning house and got me and the dog out while my mom got the other two year old and the baby out while his friend called 911 and the fire fighters got the cats out and actually had to give them oxygen and they had a lot of health problems after but both cat did live for a very long time after the fire and the man that started the fire said that he wanted to be a hero and save us from the fire that he caused even tho he didn't help us at all and basically our whole house burned down my baby blanket actually fully melted to my bed so were really lucky it was lunch time and not nap time
The fire was so bad that me and my brother had no clothes just the ones we were wearing, we had no shoes neighbors were giving us clothes and shoes for me and my brother and my dad actually almost got arrested when he pulled up to the House while the firefighters were trying to put out the fire bc he knew us and the dog had gotten out but he was trying to get back into the house for the cats and he actually almost got arrested but the firefighters where luckly able to get them out and save them and I actual started school a year later than I was supposed to bc I was apparently so traumatized that I degresseed in potty training so I was one of the oldest kids in my grade like one person was older than me in our grade

4:36 bear in mind you don’t have to talk to the police. Doesn’t matter if you’re free, detained or arrested you don’t have to talk to the police and you have the right to remain silent and have a lawyer present. The second those cops came up to me I would’ve said “I’m not talking without a lawyer and I invoke the fifth amendment”.

I always hate how the show has the cops being unprofessional assholes to persons of interest who turn out to be completely innocent. Making blind, baseless accusations seemingly having made up their mind that whoever is being interrogated is guilty. Then, no apology at all.
thats not how they are in real life?
@@MrBmick79 Nowhere near to the extent that they are on the shows because what they do in the shows would result in slam dunk lawsuit cases against the cops and the departments. Violating constitutional rights is not good police work.
