What's interesting about these series is that whenever a civilian does the smart thing and actually insists on their constitutional rights, it's presented as evidence of guilt.

that's what many guilty parties do irl. they immediately go for their rights. because they can use those to make it difficult or weasel out of what they did.

Definatly still always lawyer up and shut the hell up. Being a brown guy hanging out in a not so brown area reading a book in barns and noble is apprently very dangerous. I was told to come with them because I fit the description of a suspect in the area. Was a nervous guy just off of work in my 20s so I went with them but remembered to say i pled the fifth, want a lawyer and turn my brain and mouth off and go to la-la land until I see one. Spent 3 days in holding. Turns out they wanted a confession. Actual guy was caught beating his wife two days later. We look nothing alike, especially considering he was a white dude. I might have gotten fired because my boss thought I was involved somehow but im not serving time for something I didnt do in a city ive never been to or gone back to since. Always lawyer up.

I agree but I think for this case I think it’s more of the fact that it isn’t even the kid insisting on his rights, it’s his mother insisting HIS Rights FOR him, like she’s his lawyer. Unless she’s also his lawyer but I don’t think that’s what happening here

He also guest starred as a murderer on SVU. I’ve seen that episode so many times lol Britt Robertson is in it too. It was based on the whole “pregnancy pack” drama that happened on the news many years ago. Of course there was a twist with that though. The episode of SVU is called “Babes.”

It's great that they didn't let the tech do all the work on this one. Some shows (like the various CSIs) let the tech run the case.
