Unfortunately, these kind of things are hard to patent, it's very easy to find a loophole in the tech, maybe like using other spring materials or something else. Only corporate companies can afford to invest a lot of their r&d funds in covering most aspects that could be loopholed/ replicated. Even then we manage to find china made copies of a lot of stuff on the market.
When my daughter was in school they had the egg drop test challenge. I used bubble wrap and rubber hose glued to the corners of a cardboard box so they stuck out at angles like this guys invention. The egg did not break dropped off the roof of the school. She did not win because they figured that I gave her too much help. I did. It was fun.

Samsung is already damaging their sales with inferior designs. I have s7 edge. My next phone will probably be nokia. Reliability, and screen prices matter with these big and expensive phones. Nokia is on the right path with Nokia 7 plus. Samsung and apple is a disaster when you damage your phone.

Hehe i just thought of this same idea however i suggest u can slightly modify the design and mechanism so it wont be a copycat. If that was the case then every phone is a copycat of motorola or every car is a copycat of ford.
Damn I was also thinking of something like this after watching spiderman's new suit deploying "spider legs" in Infinity War.
I had also thought of a unique car engine design but later on found out that someone had already made my idea into reality

Case must be connected by software to the phones accelerometer my guess but I also wonder of that's so how to stop it from going off accidentally while in a vehicle are a flight maybe that's why it isn't out yet there working on a fix but if that comes out I def want one I'm always dropping my phone.
I'm sure it could differentiate between normal accelerations (Car, plane, elevator,) and free-fall. The only time I see it triggering in your pocket would be on an airplane during extreme turbulence, or on a roller-coaster / amusement park ride that has a drop.

Nothing is 100% fool proof, but I would definitely buy this case, it's going to work in a lot of different scenarios.
