Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed talks to Ghazal Singer Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan on the evening before his departure for Stockholm at the dinner hosted by Amer Bajwa Sahib at his residence in Lahore.

I was born in the year 2000. I'm a millennial. But his songs have given me so much to learn. Right from 'Hum Tere Shehar Mein Aaye Hain Musafir Ki Tarah' to 'Faasle Aise Bhi Honge', 'Kabhi Kitaabon Mein Phool Rakhna', to ultimately his best 'Chamakte Chand Ko Toota Hua'. ❤

Wah Ji Wah. The utmost pleasure that one can derive from our Shastriya Sangeet has no limit. The depths and mysteries of our Ragas are beyond definition. Lack of interest today in classical arts is a reflection on the Pakistani society and the results are obvious. Any society that abandons fine arts is doomed for extinction.

Wonderfull, good to see both Prof Ishtiaq Ahmad and Ustad Gulam Ali sahib together. In my student life I listen more to gazals by Gulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassan, Anop Jalotta then listening to my professors. I still have unacountable cassets with gazals by these great singers, the medium have changes by time but their achiements will be with us forever.

It gave immense pleasure to know that Ustad Ghulam Ali Sahab was shagird of the greatest music director, Sajjad Hussain Sahab. Sajjad saab was offered music for movie Mughal e Azam by K. Asif but as both were perfectionist, it didn't materialize. India has produced only four great known music directors.
