I've owned all three of the f/2.8 sigmas, and they're absolutely amazing, even without the cost consideration. The 19mm on a GX80 is a wonderful combo, and I've shot weddings using a pair of GX80s with the 19mm on one body and the 60mm on the other. Interesting to hear your comments on reviewing what you can see rather than 'test chart' performance. Totally share your views! Keep up the good work 🙂

Have you tried the 16,30&56? Would love to know your thoughts?

@@englishsecrets I haven't tried any of those, although they come VERY highly recommended by those who have! My current lenses of similar usage are three 'Leicasonics', the 15mm f/1.7, the 25mm f/1.4, and the 45mm f/2.8 macro, which are extraordinary pieces of glass.

I agree. Excellent performances and value. The 19mm in particular.

I actually got the lens for €100, could not leave it in the shop. I assume they were trying to sell off their MFT line. Anyway, I like the lens and use it for details and insects. Like the size, weight and sharpness.

I picked up the m43 sigma 56mm for rain shots since it's weather proof

Excellent lens review, showing its practical limitations i.e a great lens for portraiture, architectural details and landscape; but it is the wrong choice for street photography. I have an Olympus 60f2.8 Macro.

    A few comments:
It is good that Sigma includes a lens hood with these lenses - I wish they had made a deeper hood for the 60mm lens - I own all three of the DN series lenses in MFT mount (16mm, 30mm and 60mm) and the lens hoods that came with each are identical and interchangeable - they probably gained some cost savings there but not the best decision from a functional point of view.
I'm not a fan of the smooth focus ring either - on occasions where I want to manually focus I simply wrap the ring with a couple of thick rubber bands - gives a good solid purchase on the focus ring.
I actually enjoy shooting with the 60mm on street scenes - will often switch from my 14mm or 17mm lens to the 60 in order to get tighter detail type shots, adding to the variety of photos that can be captured and to supplement the more all inclusive type shots captured with the wider lenses - so I don't see that as a detriment at all - I enjoyed the tighter compositions you captured for this video.

Brian, Carlisle is special to me because here in NZ, I used to live on a lovely home on Carlisle Road in the north of Auckland. I became curious about the place so after transferring to my house on that road, I immediately searched about Carlisle in the north of England. Somehow I felt connected to the town even though it was just the name of the road where I used to live. Cheers.

I’m going to be doing a video centred around Carlisle in the next couple of months. I deliberately have missed it out on my Hadrian’s Wall walk videos (apart from the actual path through it) as it warrants a proper video in its own right. Thanks for the comment and say hello to NZ for me, beautiful country.

Hi love your videos would you recommend this over the Olympus 45mm f1.8 lens as trying to decide

      Many thanks.
No, it depends upon what you are wanting to shoot. This lens is ideal if you are wanting tight head shots but less effective for full upper body portraits where the 45 is ideal. I would use the 45mm 90% of the time but this really does well when I want really tight. Go for the Olympus in those circumstances.

It’s for street photography as I like a bit of distance

Have you used a Sigma 56mm 1.4? Curious to hear how it compares to this.
