  • Welcome to a SPECIAL episode of Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be going back and taking a look at 60 Harry Potter Plot Holes discussed on the channel over the last few years. I’ve cut some out for an even 60, so please be aware of some inconsistent numbering. Also, I’ve tried my best to level out the audio across the videos, but in some instances there is a bit of variation.
Without further ado, let’s dive in.

The last plothole -- how did Sirius buy Harry's broom? -- was explained quite well in the book. Sirius explained to Harry that Crookshanks delivered the order form, and that Sirius included instructions to take the gold from Sirius' vault at Gringott's. Goblins wouldn't have helped the Ministry track down a wizard. Goblins wouldn't have cared.

On Colin's camera: Old cameras work by a basic chemical reaction. The lens focuses light on to the film, and the silver in the film reacts. If the magic affected the camera, then potions wouldn't work either. Or any other normal chemical reaction. Tou wouldn't even need to polish any sort of metal, because it would never oxidize.

I think that Petunia knew more than she ever let on, because, after all, she didn't want Vernon and her son to see her as a “freak.”She was happy to keep her lips sealed about anything that she may have known.
I think Snape didn't say anything about the potion's book, because if Harry had found out that it was Sanpe's, it might have led Harry on a trail to his identity, that he knew his mother, and who Eileen Prince was, which was what Sanpe wanted to be kept from Harry at all costs.
Voldemort showed up at the ministry because he was called for help, and probably by Bellatrix. Tom still lost several of his inner circle that night, with only Bellatrix escaping.
Not all locks can be unlocked with the unlocking spell, even using certain dodgy knives. Harry found that out while in the DoM.
Harry did try to contact Sirius, via Umbridge's floo, where Kreacher lied to Harry about Sirius' whereabouts. Harry didn't remember the mirror until he was packing to leave, where he broke it. Plus, his scar was burning, which addled his thoughts.
They flat screwed up on Minerva's age.
Polyjuice potion takes six months to brew, if I recall, and he would have needed the ingredients. Sirius could have tried to obtain some from one of the Order's members, but I'd say that Dumbledore told them not to help him leave No. 12.
The portkey in the tournament was not a timed portkey, it triggered on touch. Barty made sure that Harry would reach it first.
Neither Minerva nor Hagrid wished to leave Harry at the Dursleys, that was all Dumbledore's doing, and he was too cowardly to ring the doorbell. However, it was said that Minerva spent the night watching over things until Petunia found him the next morning. Remember, Dumbledore ordered them to not speak to the Dursleys, they were supposed to be left alone. Something was off about Albus and this.
It looks like, from the Cursed Child, that Tom may have been interested in Time Turners, as a plot was made after their destruction in the DoM, to construct one between Malfoy, Nott, and, I think, Rookwood.
Stating the above, a big plot hole was the abduction of Fortescue. JKR wrote about him, and why he was to be used. Fortescue was well-trained in magical history, and was another seeker of the Deathly Hallows. He would have been who Tom tortured for information about the Hallows, and especially, where he found out about the Elder Wand. JKR left it be, and didn't mention why he was taken.

    • @romileever8885
      @romileever8885 Před 2 měsíci +1

I think you’re correct about the portkey not being timed. However, portkeys are only supposed to go one way. Touching it again doesn’t activate them to return to their place of origin (or somewhere else). But when Harry touched the Triwizard cup a second time it takes him to the entrance of the maze in front of the entire school. Therefore, when Crouch Jr (as Moody) bewitched the cup, he planned to have it take anyone who touched it first to the graveyard, then to the front of the maze. Voldemort obviously wanted to kill Harry that night, so who was meant to take that return trip?

@@romileever8885 There was another portkey made by Dumbledore for Harry when the battle at the DoM was over. It was made in front of Fudge.

A few more which weren't mentioned.
    - Draco Malfoy's greatest fear about the Forbidden Forest is werewolves. However, werewolves are human when there is no full moon. Do actual humans live in the Forest, or what?
    - Salazar Slytherin planned to get Hogwarts rid of Muggle-borns, but only them. How did he know the Basilisk that can kill anyone with its gaze, won't meet anyone he wouldn't want to hurt?
    - Why can't Sirius Black, one of the most talented former Hogwarts student, disguise himself after his escape from Azkaban?
    - Why does Barty Crouch Jr want to kill Harry after he left the maze? As a Death Eater, he should know Voldemort wants to kill Harry himself.
    - Why can't Voldemort and his Death Eaters, most wanted people of the Wizarding World, use any disguise upon the Ministry heist?
    - Tom Riddle is, according to the lore, past his second Horcrux when he asks Slughorn about the effects of multiple Horcruxes. What use is that info for him at that point? He already entered a one-way road.
    - Levicorpus is a non-verbal spell. It it's Snape's invention, as he claims it to be, how did the Marauders learn it to use it against Snape?
    - Why don't the Death Eaters capture Harry after Snape defeats him in the battle after Dumbledore's death? Snape does have a reason not to, but the others don't.
    - Is Nagini immortal? If not, it makes no sense why Voldemort sentences a shard of his soul to die with her.
    - Why is Nagini disguised as Bathilda Bagshot of all people in Godric's Hollow? Voldemort doesn't know Harry will need Bathilda's help.
    - Nagini's venom kills Snape within minutes, but Harry, also bitten by Nagini, survives it. Not to mention, Nagini shouldn't bite Harry, as Voldemort, who has direct control over her, wants to kill Harry himself.

      1. As a young boy, I doubt he knew that. There were probably only werewolf cubs there and a rumour to keep people out of the forest
      2. The opener of the chamber would probably target a single person, guiding the basilisk who could just look downwards while using it’s sense of smell
      3. There aren’t THAT many people in each house, they’d realise if a stranger walked in, even if disguised. The dementors also aren’t fooled, and Sirius doesn’t have access to neither a wand nor potions ingredients
      4. None of them knew until after his resurrection, right? Even if they did, he was young and probably only a fringe death eater until he sacrificed a life sentence in Azkaban for Voldemort
      4. Good question
      5. To reassure himself, to see if it’d get worse after even more than just two
      6. Probably spread with his Slytherin gang and then got leaked. Or else they reversed-engineered it; levicorpus just means levitate body and liberacorpus just means free body.
      7. Also good question
      8. Her dead body would probably still work fine
      9. He might’ve guessed he’d turn to Bathilda if he returned. Or he needed a magical person to bewitch the body or an old lonely person as to not be suspicious
      10. Maybe she could control her venom? Also Snape was bit multiple times, and Arthur survived a similar attack. Her venom could be very weak and only stop non-magic attempts at stemming blood flow (as with Arthur)

Such a litter was once set free, under conditions of extreme secrecy, in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts, with the kind permission of Albus Dumbledore. The cubs grew into beautiful and unusually intelligent wolves and some of them live there still, which has given rise to the stories about ‘werewolves’ in the Forest - stories none of the teachers, or the gamekeeper, has done much to dispel because keeping students out of the Forest is, in their view, highly desirable.

This is the problem with building large worlds full of mcguffins like magic. An author's main goal is to create a series of dilemmas for the characters to resolve on their way through the main story arc. However, there can be times when a tool is introduced - like the time turner or the pensieve - that can help with one plot point, but act as a hole for a future plot point. As intuitive people, readers will remember incredibly useful things and when they are presented with a new crisis in the story, will immediately begin to think as if they were the characters in the story. What would they do considering all of the tools introduced so far. But only to see the author completely glosses over it. Sometimes authors will forget they even had those things in their story, or a clear justification exists, but just didn't translate well in the narrative.

23:38 In the books it explains that after sirius found out that Peter was living with the Weasley’s (he saw the daily prophet article about the Weasley’s winning prize money and going to Egypt), he was heard muttering in his sleep “he’s at Hogwarts” over and over. Fudge thought it was in reference to Sirius wanting to kill Harry, but it’s revealed that Sirius was actually worried about Harry’s safety because he is sharing a dormitory with the man who murdered his parents. So I think that was the major driving force as to why Sirius finally decided to break out. He was only willing to risk it to save Harry

For the Hogwarts express plot hole I think we could reasonably assume that students need new supplies every year before the term starts. They have to go to Diagon Alley as far as we know to get their school supplies and it’s in or around London amiright? If so then it would be a big to-do to go school shopping where we know they should and then hop on the train to get to school. Two birds with one stone kind of trip I guess?

Harry didn't "forget" about the two-way mirror. He just didn't open the package containing it until AFTER Sirius had died, so didn't even know he had that method of contacting him until it was too late.
That being said, there are still a couple plot holes here. Why did Harry not open the package from his beloved godfather as soon as he got back to Hogwarts? Why did he just throw it in his trunk and forget about it? And even if you explain that, why, when Harry used Umbridge's fire to talk to Sirius about Snape's memory, did Sirius not say "just use the mirror to contact me, it's safer"? EVERYONE apparently forgot about the mirror, not just Harry.

On the Voldemore not using the Unbreakable Vow bit, I think it's because Voldemort knew that it usually required both parties to offer or agree to something in turn, thus, Voldemort would have seen it as a form of shackles that could also kill (not sure if the consequences of breaking the Unbreakable Vow follow the same rules as direct attemps at killing him in regards to his Horcruxes, of which he is otherwise immune so long as even one Horcrux remains) or severely maim him if he failed to fulfill his end of the bargain.
Moreover, Voldemort HATED being indebted to anyone, and he certainly didn't have any feelings of loyalty or true comraderie with his followers, who were expected to be loyal to him but whom he would have no problem killing if they failed him or even simply on a whim.
This, I believe, is the reason Voldemort never used the Unbreakable Vow on his followers.

So there is probably a very rare instance in which a student needs to borrow one. Snape the former potions master probably put his copy in the stack of school copies simply to store it never thinking a student would happen upon it since 1 he taught the class and would recognize if someone had picked it up and 2 he thought he would never teach another subject. However, he got the DADA post and promptly changed his classroom without having given any thought to his old textbook, because it would be on Slugnorn to make sure the Advanced Potions student were sorted out

What if the spell or ritual of receiving the dark mark "tattoo" involved some form of the unbreakable vow?
If this were the case, then it would close the obvious plot hole of why Voldemort didn't use the unbreakable vow.
Obviously, this solution opens a new plot hole for how could Snape become a double agent. However, I think that the manner in which Snape betrayed Voldemort would close this hole as well.
Snape never directly lied to Voldemort or "actively" betrayed him. Snape had earned Voldemort's trust while he was a fully committed death eater. When he turned double agent for Dumbledore, he never lied to Voldemort. He told him the truth; just not the entirety of the truth.
Remember that he told Voldemort that Dumbledore had "tried" to turn him traitor. Voldemort ordered Snape to go do it, thinking that with Snape in Dumbledore's trust, he would be able to gain secrets and useful information for him.
He gave Voldemort the truth when questioned about why he couldn't reveal the location of the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. He wasn't the secret keeper and therefore couldn't give up the location.
He told Voldemort the real date and time of Harry's escape from the Dursley's to the Weasley's at he beginning of The Deathly Hallows. Even though Voldemort had been given, and believed, different information from the imperioused Thickenese at the ministry.
Yes, Snape was a true master of occlumencey. But I believe that Snape ALWAYS told Voldemort enough of the truth that when he was under the influence of Voldemort's legilimency he only had to use his occlumencey to hide the rest of the truth that he hadn't spoken out loud.
Voldemort only looked into Snape's mind enough to sense the truth of what he had said, but not far enough to discover that last part that he was hiding.

With Unbreakable Vow I figure there must be something more involved than just the case of death if fail to uphold. Personal headcanon to make it make sense is that a portion of the participants' magical power is permanently "locked" (at least until such time as the vow is fulfilled to a point it no longer applies) - with the locked portion of their power being what maintains the vow. Thus, people would be reluctant to use the vow if not essential as it would actually weaken them. Voldemort especially would never give up any of his power when his own methods seemed sufficient to himself - and doubly especially would never do so multiple times (once per Deatheater/core member).

I hate the concept and logic of portkeys. The idea that there are these windows and time sheets where they work simply just overcomplicates the living hell out of it. The way I see it and will continue to see it is the someone places a sort of waypoint beacon down in one spot, travels to another spot and places another waypoint beacon down, and then uses an object to magically link the two. In the case of the maze, I think that it had that same spell on it originally, but had another temporary portkey spell placed overtop of it by crouch jr, so that when they initially got transported to the graveyard, that temporary spell broke leaving the original portkey spell left, which is what then allows harry to go back to the start of the maze. To me this makes so much more sense and doesn't overcomplicate anything.

intrestingly there are two explinations about why serious didnt escape which are both passingly mentioned in the book both being said by serious one being "I as good as killed them" this is guilt serous likely kept himself there as he did blame himself at least party for lilly and james deaths. the second is mentioned on why he escaped when he saw peter he had began to gain his powers back more strongly thanks to the fire of passion that knowing he could prove his innocence created. it was likely that even if serious got out of his cell he wouldnt be able to get out of the prison grounds without his magic which serves as a very powerful reason also for dementors being more affective gaurds in the eyes of wizards as they provent powerful magic being used like for example a patronous or aperation.
is it possible that the unbreakable vow is actually a type of dark magic which could explain dumbledoor not using the spell. and yeah voldimort is explained by his arragance that being his thought he was the most powerful legilimence that nobody could trick him (which voldimort regulaly claims during the books)
the elder wand i was always under the impression that it could in a way sense how powerful the magic its weilder holds in the moment therefore a person could gain the wand simply because the magic user was more powerful at the time (example from the books being dumbledoor was dying and poisioned therefore had drastically reduced magical potential that malfoy at the time when he disarmed him so the wand gave itself over) another example not from the books which I thought of would be using dementors a user could sick a dementor to go in and weaken a wizard and then take the wand from their hands which would alow them to become its master (this explination also explains the killing misconseption as the user died they would loose all magic potential so the wand gave itself to the killer. and considering in the books at least the only way the wand was taken in death was muggle kills ie the user being stabbed meant the wand still held its potential to that user at the time)
the international threat thing is one of just being a hole because of the films. (crimes of grindlewald namely) because in the books its strongly stated that the wizarding commuinity is very disconnected outside of single countries because of the logistic issues of trvael between countries and continents namely why portkeys are so important as they are enchanted with a activation condition (timetable contact etc) which is also a explination for the issues of the rules or portkeys in general too as it was a earlier plothole mentioned.
the plot hole about harry on the doorstep ignores the priciple of knock and run there magical beings would estensivly apperate in and then out after knocking on the door so the dursleys would then answer to discover harry, although yes them abonding him is in itself an issue as the character claim to care about the child.
molly not knowing the platform is only a oversight ignoring that a lot of the actions dumbledoor does is to train harry to be able to beat voldermort this being known as dumbledoors big plan (yes that part is a theory but does in a whole explain a lot of oddities to the story) and the idea of dumbledoor who was already close with the weasleys asked mrs weasley to make sure harry meets them so that they could help him acclumate to the wizarding world easier. and being that she couldnt just walk around looking for harry potter she fakes not knowing what the platform is so harry can instead find them. (also note ginny is the only one to seemingly react to this and answer at least answering first which could be a case that the kids just assumed she was doing this for ginny to see that she is paying attention.)
the traps i have passively explained by the idea of dumbledoors plan would explain this. (and we know that dumbledoor enchanted the mirror with a spell which meant that he knew that voldermort could never get it out of the mirror which would be the perfect situation for the stone to be safe and therefore he just added those traps as he knew the kids would try and get through so looked too the teartchers to create some intresting traps in order too test a student who went in to see if they deserve to get too the mirror)
lockhart was seen through most of the hogwarts staff seemed to have a disdain for him and his lack of ability in there noted subjects. and as too why his reputation before this point wasnt damaged is likely because lockhart isnt stupid he would likely only be in public for interviews or times he was expecting to be around others and therefore wouldnt cast magic to conceal the fact he was rather inept. however once on school grounds he felt he had to constantly demonstrate his skill because of the fact people would ask questions if he didnt and ironically tarnish his reputation.
wands when they broke didnt work correctly which is the case for all wands the one exception for this we have seen was hagrid. which has a theory explonation that being his wand was partially repaired or even fully repaired by dumbledoor as we know at the time he had the elderwand and that it could correctly fix wands.
and as i forgot to mention this prior it appears not too uncommon for wizards to hand down wands to their children as we also know this is at the least part of the explination as to why nevile struggled with magic so much as this dramatically changed after the order of the phoinix where he seemed to have a large uptick in skill after his wand got broken in the minestry of magic
the size of the basalisk isnt a plothole its simply a situation of missing somthing modern comercial plumbing is small however ancient plumbing methods created large stone caverns which would take sewage and water through (see the water systems in italy as an example as there it is still somewhat used.)
why was the chamber of secrets not cleaned? simple it closed after harry entered it and as paceltounge is a very rare skill they still couldnt enter the chamber to empty it and harry being someone that didnt care about or know the value of whats in that chamber wouldnt go back in. (also dumbledoor likely wouldnt allow anyone to enter the chamber as there was a possibility that could cause issues for the school which he seemed to protect with the most care)
the simple example here is goblins are not held by the minerstry of magic and you can mail in to pay for the broom as it was noted in a paper.

Thoughts on a few of the first 10 or so.
Petunia and magic: in Snape's memories he an Lily both use magic in the open and Petunia at one point does have a rant about Lily and Hogwarts. I'm sure she did not know or perhaps did not know the severity at least. The better question is how did Lily get away with it?
Charlie's wand: perhaps this wand is a family training wand that belonged to someone even before Charlie. They had numerous children and limited funds perhaps they struggled around the time Charlie went to school and he was given a wand of a deceased family member and when he graduated he got his own wand...
I agree with the Pensive argument regarding Fudge and skill level. I also believe Dumbledore either had an oversight with Mertyl - he is human - or it was intentional and part of his grooming of Harry. Consider the Kings Cross station conversation and Dumbledore's past with Grindewald. He's not the best guy.

#9 Is SO obvious. The whole entire point of HBP, is Harry's (and the reader's) misunderstanding of Snape's character.
Even more than Ron and Hermoine, Snape is one of the people in the entire world with whom Harry has the most in common. Snape had to use a school-issue textbook, because he was raised by muggles.
It wasn't Snape's actual book. It always belonged to the school. He just had to use it, and defaced it.

Why tf would they make someone who cant do magic be the janitor? Any time he complains about cleaning up after students i think how anyone in that castle could clean that mess in 2 seconds. As a matter of fact im pretty sure there are enchanted cleaning tools in these books which just do the cleaning themselves.
The entire reason they keep magic a secret from the normal world is nonsense. Who cares if humans would rely on wizards. THEY LITERALLY HAVE ACCESS TO MAGIC.

so sure I commented on this before...
    a) Snapes book - I think he merely forgot it in his classroom, maybe even in his desk. Slugorn would have out it with the other books AND if you are a book reader you are aware that Snape actually tries to get the book back after what happens to Malfoy. So he clearly did not leave it on purpose. But I think his mind might have been a bit preoccupied with the tasks in that year.
    b) the trace is totally unfair - since it seems not to be locked onto a child. So people with magical parents can performe magic out of school - and muggle borns can not.
That is one of the things that bothers me most!
    c) do not even get me into McGonagall - reading the books I always imagied her being in her lat 40s - and the thing with fantastic beasts.... Yeah do not get me started in this one.
    d) Do not even get me started on everything Sirius - no do not...
    e) Things like "time turners" or "Veritaserum" are also consistend holes - i think they were just not invented so hard to implement them in books before the author invented those.
    f) the fi,ms often maes no sense - During the books Cho (and Olliver) arrived later on
    g) Fidelius... how could Hagrid have found Harry in a Fidelius kept house?
He was not the secret keeper.
Secret keepers also are not sensible...
Ever wondered, how the Longbottoms could be found, when apparently Dumbledore was their Secret keeper?
Also... why not be your own secret keeper?
Bill was - and that seems the safest option...
    h) about creating riches - I had this incredible guide at the studio tour who provided some BGlore. as for wizarding (or Giblin) money - there is a little bit of goblin magic in every peice of money/wealth/goblin made things. IF you dublicate, you can not dublicate the goblin magic. Giblins will realize the lack of the magic - which is how Griphook was able to know the sword of Gryffindor was a fake one. So you simply can not dublicate anything goblin made.
That explains why some wizarding families are poos (and due to their honor - I guess you could still dublicate our money)

Ron's first wand has seen use since Charlie's first year at Hogwarts, and more likely that wand was probably a nine year old wand when Charlie gave it to him, and the wand was kind of old, and therefore it could've been a lot older than 10 years and I could take a guess that one of his departed uncles might have left Charlie his wand before the first wizard war against Voldemort.

7:17 Charlie works with dragons and dragon heartstrings is a known wand core. I believe he made himself a new wand and gave his old one back to the family. As for wands working poorly with owners other than the first, think about it. Ron kinda sucks at magic until the third book

  • @surferdude4487
    @surferdude4487 Před měsícem

Charlie's wand: In the very first book, Ron's wand is described as being badly worn. It is entirely possible that Charlie's wand was second-hand to begin with. As soon as Charlie had the means to buy his own wand, he did and passed the now third-hand wand down to Ron when he received his Hogwarts letter.
Why didn't Voldemort use the Unbreakable Vow?: That should be obvious. This binds both parties to the vow on penalty of death. Voldemort would never even consider doing something that would put his own life in peril. He would consider himself above ever keeping his word to his followers. The fates of Regulus Black and Barty Crouch JR. clearly show us how much he values the lives of his most faithful followers.
Hagrid famously used a broken wand: Really? Did you ever see it in the movies? Was it ever described as being broken in any of the books? No. A broken wand does not work. Neither Ron's broken wand in "The Chamber of Secrets" nor Harry's wand in "The Deathly hallows" are able to cast even the most basic spells. If Hagrid's wand was ever broken in the first place, either Dumbledore repaired it using the Elder wand or Hagrid got a replacement. In either case, it was subsequently concealed within the pink umbrella and we never see the actual wand.
As for things you saw in the films and the play: non-cannon. The only flying wizards in the books were Voldemort and Snape. Harry used a flashlight, not his wand, to do his homework. Tha'That's just two examples. As for the play? I've seen better fan-fics than that POS.

Most of these 'plot holes' are easily explained but my favourite is the one about colins camera. It is not all tech that wont work at hogwarts but more specifically the electronics that go haywire due to all the magic around...colins camera is an older analog camera....no electronics to go haywire so it would easily work.

Number 2 is easily explained, Snape lived next to them, and Lily could do magic because of that.
#3. Dumbledore knew about the chamber he couldn't get in, he doesn't speak parsol tongue.
#6. Of course, they have flew powder.
#8. Charlie got gifted a new wand by his employer it was said that Charlie's wand wasnt that good for him either.
#9. He might have just left it in there to help the one kid that was smart enough to grab a worn book instead of a new one.
Scabers, i will say that the muraders map only reveals people that know that have that form.
Locks, magic has levels, different levels of skill with that spell or different spells in that skill tree.
The twins getting the map, they were related to the owners of it so they probably got told about it.
Why he didn't "call" Serious, he had been proven his visions right by him being right about Ron's dad being attacked.
McGonagall, she also looks older the a witch at her age if she never went back in time, she was technically as old or older then Dumbledore.
Dementors, Harry was not experiencing his torment he had Voldemrot in him and that piece of him was what was being attacked.
Truth serum, it would be too invasive, you could ask anything once they took it and people would abuse it.
Wizard money and Wizard economy, some things aren't so simple to make and if something has to be made by hand then it would be more expensive.
Secret Keeper's, a Secret Keeper cant be the paty that is hiding, that would negate the magic of a person using ones magic to hide another.
Portraits, Magic paintings are like any other magic, it all depends on who does the spell and how much magic they put into it, it is also said multiple times that the Headmaster paintings were made in a particular way to keep memories from them in the paintings, my thoughts on this part would be that a Wizard is able to take their memories before death and adding them to the paint they use.
Wizard wealth, it is made clear you cant make something out of nothing, it would also help to remember that magic isn't universal, just because you can do magic doesn't mean you can do all magic.
Magic language classes, you could just contribute this to a worldwide spell of universal language.
The stone being destroyed, it wasn't destroyed, it was used several times and never said that it was, the fact everyone was healed from the petrafacation from the Baselisk.
Harrys lock on Hedwigs cage, it is obvious that he put a lock spell on it so his crule family couldn't harm his owl.
Basilisk venom and Harry's horcux not dieing, it only makes sense that its because he didn't die and the tear from the phenox healed both.
The broken wand problem with ron and Hagrid, i would like to point out that Dumbledore had the Elder wand and he would have repaired it for him without being asked, he couldn't do that for Ron or that would have told the world he had the Elder wand for that isnt normally able to be done by normal means.
Not hearing the hissing in the walls, it is easily explained by his mental connection with any snake, he was hearing it in his head not in the air with his ears.
Time Turner's, McGonagall sean herself in Hermione and gave her the time turner, she also gave her the same one she used way back when to help Dumbledore.
