This is so hard for me to watch and breaks my heart to see her but her baby and she lost her life because of the color of her skin in the hospital it hurts real bad my heart go out to her husband mother mother-in-law the middle family thank God continue to give him strength Joy also Joy where they can the pain can be a little easier for them but she will never be forgotten and I think the father is doing such a good job by letting the whole world know what happened to his wife it could have been swept under the rug but I'm glad he's telling his story and I believe everything you say he's speaking the truth and everybody need to stand behind him a thousand percent.

We need to be aware of this. This is not an issue to cover up. These hospitals need to get call out.

This is UNJUST. As a medical professional I am pissed!!!! if you cant care enough for your patients dont be a damn provider. We need more Ethnic providers and healthcare workers and our healthcare system is bull. Thise children lost a mother and he lost a wife all because of complete neglect. 😡😡😡

Man, this angered me so much. Having worked in a hospital, there is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scene. It’s unreal

Sometimes best insurance and money doesn't make a difference. Serena Williams had to get out of bed as I understood to make them know something was wrong. Almost samething. Being a nurse and know records are changed. Keep good work up.

    The husband is right on!
Do USA medical practitioners have any Cultural awareness training?? One should acknowledge their own cultural values and biase and how that can affect your first thoughts, behaviours and attitudes. When a patient is listened to, they'll be more likely to be treated with dignity and respect?
This was a systemic healthcare failure at play here, which led to their failing this husband and their sons.
But they also failed themselves in providing professional care and the code of ethics.

Shortly after my daughter was born, I started bleeding heavily. I was rushed down to have a CT scan. It showed where the blood had come from. Although the bleeding became less, I was immediately started on blood transfusions. Blood samples were taken every 2 hours and the extreme coldness I had felt started to decrease. I was transfused for 2 days and kept in hospital for 8. That happened in South Africa, not a country which used to carry the title "leader of the free world", America. I certainly will not visit there again. The reality was an extreme disappointment.

This is frightening! I wonder if a cesarean delivery is a contributing factor. Why did Kira not have a normal birth?

I really don't think that matters if it was medical or choice they botched it and killed her.that was their choice not hers

Her first delivery was a csection, son's heartbeat kept fluxuating. Whether she made the choice or not, her medical team was negligent and indifferent to her suffering and ignored her husband's concert as he advocated for his wife

Also her first pregnancy was a c-section so typically all future births have to be a c-section.

The Male doctor said said racism and poverty are factors in mortality. However, Kira was wealthy. The inhumane treatment from biased White medical staff is a dangerous contributing factor which transcends economic status of African Americans. This white male doctor continued to invalidate institutional racism in the medical profession. He explained as "doctors can grow indifferent through time. He seemed to struggle with the reality that Black women are racially discriminated against, and instead talked about poverty and Black women being predisposed to preclampsia. That right there unknowing to him, is a bias coming from a White doctor. He refusef to acknowledge the racial bias that can determine if a Black woman survives childbirth, and he very well could have been an arrigant SOB during his time at Cedar Sinai. Many of the staff cater to their wealthy white patients. My precious 6 month old nephew was experimented on and suffered horribly!
Black women come from varied backgrounds but the point is Black women like White women should be treated humanely.PERIODT!
