      Hey! Thanks so much. That made my day. I'm just getting started, I appreciate it!

    I appreciate this very soothing review! I feel like I agreed with pretty much all of your points, but at the same time, I really like exploration, so I forgave everything you mentioned. Can't defend that Story Mode, though! Hope your channel gets some traction!

      Thanks so much! I'm glad it was helpful. I loved the exploration too, I just wish there had been more stuff to find. The Xenoblade series is my favorite series of all time partially because the exploration is just so incredible. I HIGHLY recommend them if you don't love them already. Thanks again for checking out my content :)

      I adore Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 3, and almost got into 2 before they started making those stupid walls that could only be opened by upgrading your skills... So glad the Xenoblade series is finally in the mainstream appeal!

      @@EpicPaul64 Completely agree. I eventually learned to ignore most of the optional skill walls in Xenoblade 2 until the post-game, but the mandatory ones were a giant pain. Future Redeemed is perhaps my favorite game content of all time. I really, really hope that Xenoblade X is revealed either in the June Direct, or is a remade launch title for Switch 2. I played about half of it on WiiU, but then my gamepad broke and I figured it would get ported sooner or later... and it still hasn't happened yet :(

      I'd love a Xenoblade X port, especially cause I never got around to playing it on the Wii U! Here's hoping the mechs aren't too hard to get used to...

      @@EpicPaul64 the mechs are one of my favorite parts! I never fully got to grips with the mech combat before my game pad broke, but the sense of freedom you get from flying around is something I've never experienced in any other game. It was a genius move to force you to run around as a tiny human for like a dozen hours before giving you a mech, because once you get it, OMG, it's an unreal experience.

    You know 11 days ago when I was searching for reviews for this CZcams just didn't show it to me until now.
    Thanks for covering this game, not many people did. It's one eye ultimately unfortunately fine disappointing as a fan of the last one. However even if they didn't change anything, I would have felt a lot better if it was just cheaper. Because as a big nerd from marine biology I can't say that there's nothing at all here to enjoy. I do still like taking a dive every now and then and just seeing what I find
    I think if they sold this game for 20 to $30 and had a bit more interaction in the multiplayer aspect it could have been a decent spin-off. But as it is you don't really do anything with other players other than wave to them and just try to work towards completion of scanning the map
    But my preference would have been just a actual sequel to Blue World with the inclusion of and expansion of all of the gameplay features that were in that one

      I would have felt much more forgiving if it was only $20-$30. There is a lot of really good stuff in it, it was just the way they crafted the loop that felt so bad. If it had been packaged up in a different way, I think it would have been a lot better. From what I've heard, it might have just been better to have ported Blue World!

    Great review, was considering it due to my absolute love for the original, but it seems to have missed the mark here. The gameplay loop that made the first two games seems to misunderstood by the developers when they decided to create the procedurally generated biomes instead one large free roam map. Fish still look just as, if not better, but the biomes haven't changed much in 15 years from the looks of it. Overall a disappointment, but hopefully they provide some content updates to it to make it more worth wild

      Thanks! I was really bummed this turned out like it did. I tried gaslighting myself into thinking it was better than it was, but once I had discovered most of the fish and just kept reloading maps hoping to find new biomes, it lost me. One large bespoke map sounds like a much better design decision. I loved it for the first few hours, but then it did a really sharp 180. I'll have to check out the originals!

    After nearly completing Blue World, I was excited when this was announced. Sounds like the main gimmick of procedural generated biomes is it's downfall, sadly.

    • @GameDreamery
      @GameDreamery  Před 25 dny

      Yeah, I think it really boils down to how frustrating it is looking for new fish once you've found a majority of them, and that's all because of the procedural world. Even small levels, each with a "% of fish found" for making progress would have been better. This was such a disappointment. Sounds like Blue World is worth checking out though?

      @@GameDreamery Blue World is 100% worth checking out; honestly there are a lot of mechanics from that game that are missing in this one. There are multiple maps around the world to explore, each with different environments (river, arctic, etc). There's a customizable aquarium, salvaging is more fleshed out, character/dive suit customization is way better, you can exit the water and walk on the surface with an island base you can customize, the list goes on lol. Definitely recommend!

      Woah, that sounds like exactly what I was hoping Luminous was going to be. I really liked the core concept of Luminous, it was just the structure that really turned me off. Thanks for the recommendation! @@ohhannah972
