    I'm really interested in the diesel engine. I only wished GMC maybe tweaked it for some more power. I think it's perfect for the lighter Cruze but the heavier Equinox and Terrain could benefit from some more power. Just my thoughts.

    It will be interesting to see how well it sells. I suspect it will be a very small percentage of overall sales. Meanwhile Mazda is dilly-dallying yet again with giving us the Skyactiv Diesel engine in the US. I wonder when they’ll throw in the towel entirely. It was supposed to be available on the CX-5 by now and I think they’ve stopped talking about putting it in the 6 entirely.

      I saw Mazda 6 and cx5 diesel testing. There coming just hold on

  • @glitterkittensreid5079

    The Euro spec engine for the Opel Astra are biturbo or sequential dual turbo charging boosting the power to 150 hp or so and another 30lbs of torque. Even with the regular diesel I would wager I could live with the power output and possibly upgrade or tweak the powertrain after warrantee runs out. Mileage would be stellar.

  • @glitterkittensreid5079

    Only a few NOS 2018 and 2019 Equinox and Cruze vehicles and used models for Diesel options to be found on the Pacific Coast of Canada. Going to test drive a 2018 Demonstrator with 1.5 turbo gasoline $26,500 at a local GMC Penticton dealer. Found a used one with the oil burner 137hp for a little more and another one for a little less one Grey and one Metallic Red like the Demo I will try. Will find the Terrain diesel to test out before I decide to sign on the sale slip.

    It’s too expensive wth .?! This thing should max out at 31k and the equinox should max out at 29k

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel Před 6 lety +1

    You have tested the Equinox in the base 1.5L turbo In-line-4 and the 1.6L Diesel in the Terrain. When will you have either of the GM compact crossovers with the 2.0L Turbo, or will you?
    (Note: the Terrain’s push button seem’s Lincoln-esque).

    A French diesel engine is not my idea of bullet proof reliability.

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Před 5 lety +3

      Diesel engines are very common in the EU, so they've been focusing on them a lot more than in the US and most diesel engines are European made anyway.

  • @Trades46
    @Trades46 Před 6 lety +3

    This is going to be a tough sell given that city MPG is so similar to the 1.5T and now even Europe (historically the biggest user of diesels) is now turning against the technology for plug-ins, this is going to be a niche of niche. Honestly GM should have dropped the diesel for the Equinox & Terrain and instead go for a Voltec based drivetrain which may attract the crowd who all now possess the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Před 5 lety

      Makes sense, but as long as it's priced the same or less than the Diesel, then I would get the PHEV. But, as the reviewer said, if you're doing mostly city and short trips, diesel is not for you.

    A 2.0 litre turbo diesel and a 2.0 litre turbo gasoline engine would be ideal for this size and weight of these 😂 SUVs? any engine's smaller no? to underpowered in my opinion? m.p.g. ? not a lot of difference driven properly? but the powers on the 2.0.litre engine's there when you need it? very nice looking car though . just my humble opinion.

    Engine sounds loud

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Před 5 lety +1

      It's a diesel engine. It always will be louder than a gas engine, but diesels have become a lot more quiet compared to what they used to be. My 2017 Cruze Diesel engine is quiet to the point that past 10 feet away from the car , you don't hear it anymore. 20 years ago, you would hear it 100 feet away.

      A Yates An Italian diesel. Why source it from Europe where the diesel is home.

    • @justinfincher2385
      @justinfincher2385 Před 5 lety

      Yes, gm has always outsourced its diesels. From the Detroit diesel to the duramax. The duramax diesel (in the HD silverados/sierra) are sourced from Isuzu. The Colorado duramax diesel was made in Thailand and first used in the 2006 Jeep Liberty here in the states. Much like the Cummins diesel in rams and titans, and the pre-2011 powerstroke diesels that were outsourced from international, it’s common practice.

      @bmw803 Před 5 lety +1

      That diesel engine is made by VM Motori. All they do are diesel engines of all sizes for all purposes. From Cranes to ships.

    What’s going to happen when the def fluid tank and pump freeze in the winter. GMC did not fix that problem Don’t buy diesel. Diesel is more expensive than gas by 20 cents a litre ✌️🇨🇦

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Před 5 lety

      Diesel is always more expensive in the winter due to the blend with Kerosene to prevent gelling. It's the opposite in summer. When winter diesel goes away in April, diesel becomes cheaper than gas and you get an extra 30-35 more on MPG, so if you're doing long highway distances, towing, hauling, diesel makes more sense.

    • @glitterkittensreid5079
      @glitterkittensreid5079 Před 4 lety

      The mpg gains would offset the costs of fuel in my area as diesel has been cheaper and until a few weeks ago was less than $1.00 litre or $3.78 Gallon Imp. Been a diesel owner last three vehicles and last 15 years or so. Cummins 12V and then Cummins 5.9 CRD. Also Volvo 745 with VW I6 2.4TD. Grew up on the ocean commercial fishing on a Volvo Penta powered wooden fishboat.

      If the Equinox initial quality is any indication of how good the Terrain is it'll be as good as the old RAV4 that has evolved for the last half decade. According to Truedelta survey of owners repairs the Equinox for the first year of a redesign is right around 13 repairs per 100 or the same as RAV4. For reference the 2017 CR-V has over double the repair rate and is about the worse in the segment.

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Před 5 lety

      Fusions have been pretty good cars and Focuses were shit in the early days for sure, but the newer ones are not bad as they used to be. They're not even American engineered in the first place. And don't worry, Toyota also had crappy engines over the years.
