    This seems like a decent package. I actually prefer the exterior styling over the Equinox. I'm not sure about those buttons for gear selection, but I suppose Terrain owners will get used to their location.

  • @kais295

    Saw one of these and fell in love with it, they call it a small crossover but im 6 feet tall and had my seat comfortably in the front and lots of room in the back, more than enough room. Even if you get the base package, you get alot of standard goodies this year that you could only get on the higher previous models.. might get a nice used one.

    One HUGE flaw is the start stop technology in these 2018 models.
    Although I hear if you run this vehicle on manual mode (L on the shifter) and set it to the highest gear (+) you can bypass it and it will not shut off when stopped.
    Remember these are all turbos and need oil to cool them or they fail.
    They should not be stopped suddenly, especially after running hard.
    You would think GM would have known that.
    I also here the 2019 or 2020 models have an on off switch now.

      inland85 It can be bypassed by shifting to L6 or L9 depending if you have a 6 or 9 speed transmission, respectively. L6 and L9 is the same gear as D

      did it stop when you had head or ac on. Ours does the same thing like a hybrid, but if weather is good, cool summers, and warm winters it will automatically do this. Having a Honda hybrid we were used to that. When you put your foot on the gas it should restart by itself.

    Test drove one this weekend for the wife. The start/stop is a deal breaker. The engine shutters every time it restarts. Makes it seem ruff and unrefined. Ended up buying the CRV.

    I had a 2017 Terrain SLE-2 with the V6. In 2019 I got rid of that for a new Jeep compass limited. It already has issues and it's sluggish. Im debating between the SLT or Denali trim level with the 2.0, still wish they had the V6 like the XT5.

    • @matthirn7858
      @matthirn7858 Před 6 lety +10

      I've been driving the 2018 Terrain for four months now and I have to say that the shifter is no big deal after about a week of driving. It has two advantages over the traditional linear shifter in that selections are direct instead of having to move the shifter through space to the correct gear and since there is no lever to leave in the wrong position, the car can do things intuitively like automatically shift to Park if you put your foot on the brake and turn the vehicle off, ignore a shift into reverse while on the highway or choose Neutral instead of Park if the vehicle was traveling too fast to safely go into Park. Once you get past the loss of the old linear feel to shifting, this really is a quite functional shifting interface.

    My husband bought our 2018 SLT Diesel not knowing anything about it. I told him no, because seats are too hard for bad back, and people who have bad SI roots in butt. It was a loaner with a little over 3,000 miles on it. I was big at 287 when bought. Tried to take it back within 3 days but cincinnati's Borschending would not accept. Then taking it for a complete look over and to get the Sirus/navagation, and phone taken care of could not be done due to someone who borrowed it had programed the whole thing, and they Holmans GMC, would have to put all new stuff back in. Cannot be reprogramed and we are making $534. oayments on the stupid thing. I feel like I am driving in a tin can.

    Did you run the 2.0 with regular gas? There is no gas savings if you have to use premium fuel?
    How do you think a deisel would be for interior heat in a cold Canadian climate?

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  Před 7 lety +2

      1decee Premium fuel is recommended but not required for the 2.0L. GMC doesnt specify if using it helps power or fuel economy. And we have no idea about the diesel.

    This is hideous! I have a 2016 Terrain & LOVE it. We previously had a 2013 Acadia- they rounded the body of Acadia, which is why we chose the Terrain. We loved the strong, masculine body style- this new version looks like every other sloped, rounded SUV on the road. I love GM products- but you have lost us with this and there are no other GM options that retain that beautiful strong, boxy look. Very sad to know when our lease ends we'll have to look elsewhere :(

    • @sgrama
      @sgrama Před 5 lety

      I totally agree. I have a 2012 SLT-2 Terrain with all kinds of options on it and I absolutely love the look of mine and love driving it. It still has only 60,000 miles on it now. I love the boxy look because it stood out now the new ones just blend in with all the rest of the new autos.
