    I'm Namibian, living and working in Turkey. Being the only black and African person here and who's ever worked here, the pressure is so much. You need to have a thick skin to remain in a similar setting. The jokes they make, the questions they ask,the privilege given to the turks, the looks you get from the colleagues and outside people when you go to the shops to buy something, the trip you take on public transportation and how everyone looks at you with disgusted faces, how nobody wants to sit or stand close to you. To anyone going through this,be strong and be financially responsible and go back home and invest your money back home where you won't ever feel like you're useless or unimportant.

      I thank God everyday that I haved been blessed. I moved to Germany , reside in a small village and was the only black person for more than fifteen years untill there was an influx of migrants and refugees and I am treated good by the Turks which is a grater part of migratans in Germany. I haved witnessed that when I travelled with friends from different parts of Africa they are treated less because they are from Africa, I was appalled. I have a friend who works as a lab technician and I am just a cook and at the airport she was treated as a terrorist. I must always say Africa is not what most idiots perceives it to be and it's not a village.

    The level of gaslighting and selective hearing that happens! Instead of addressing what this lady said , they decided to take it as a generalisation and justified the bad by saying “well , it’s maybe because you’re dirty.. go have a shower “ …
    What ?! You can clearly and openly say not all are racist but each fail to address the ACTUAL racist ones. Why don’t they put the same energy into trying to reform the racist behaviour, than trying to tell Africans “not all of us” 😖

I lived there for a decade and everything you said is exactly the same i observed. I worked in EK so I have a slightly different experience but can vouch for the fact that there is racism everywhere. I had a pass because of my western passport but never ever thought it made me any better than anyone. Actually, Kenyans more than any other african women colleagues would often look down on me. I haven't finished watching the interviews but they are highly entertaining. No one who hasnt lived in Dubai can truly understand how it is.

    Listening is a fundamental skill that most people seriously lack. At no point did she say every Filipino person is racist. She explicitly mentioned "FILIPINO RACISM" that means racism directed towards others by some Filipinos who are actually racist. But what ive noticed with non-black minority groups, is that they are in denial about racism in their own communities. They like to find every excuse as to why it can't be racism. Like come on..be real with yourselves. The way a few bads eggs do not represent entire communities, is exactly the way a few good eggs also do represent your entire community. There are good non-racist people in your community and there are RACISTS in your community. Check your biases and get it together. This level of ignorance is embarrasing.

      I love this oxymoron, whenever someone says they "hate to say it" , they really want to say it. There are a lot more racist people in America that have issues with blacks in America than Filipinos, and I have lived here most of my life. The Filipinos racism is small here,as opposed to most I see more of it with blacks, whites, other Asian groups and Latino than them. I live across a Filipino family of nurses, they are very close knit but like any group if you are respectful and show the love then whatever racism there is it starts to breaks down and they change. People change(not all but most do). I believe what the young woman said but I believe she's also part of the problem.

One important thing I want to inform to anyone in an environment where you will always be considered "less then". I learned that various white ethnic groups DON'T LIKE EACH OTHER, throw religion in and the job is a hot mess. To those reading, how did I survive. I adopted a mind set - " peaceful coexistence/ tolerance " . Remember - " good morning" is NOT JOB RELATED .After 40+years in medicine and dentistry there are certain medical personnel. I cannot deal with as a patient are -middle eastern, India, Pakistan. Yes I have a bias due to my professional experience with them. I don't want to believe that but the visual evidence presented via social media is overwhelming. This woman clearly said "Filipino racism". She did not say "all Filipinos are racist". I'm realizing more and more everyday that ignorance is not local, it's global.

Koreans don’t ever think about Japanese as “their community” Irish dudes are not sitting there weeping about some random Australian. No one on earth has this mentality of shared a skin tone magically making you a “community”. You got thousands of different languages and religions and tribes and cultures all over the entire world that are dark skinned and they do not now, nor have they ever had a single thing in common except for being humans. Strange racism coming from the “black community”. Be a human being first, then you will see there is no “community”. Everyone is an individual.

    • @ghost-user559
      @ghost-user559 Před 8 měsíci

      @@kamariamcreynolds7938 I don’t think that is actually true though. Not one single race does what you say ever in all of history and that mindset is what stops people from working on their own lives and families and self. Asian people have been fighting each other for the entire history of Asia, same with Europeans, Middle Eastern people, and Africans. I don’t know where it came from, this idea people have in their head that it’s even possible to do that, but it’s false. It’s like some kind of hypnosis or new age religion that never actually existed in real life. Read history for yourself to see the real truth. French people were at war with Italians, Spanish at war, Scottish at war with the Irish and English, And nobody else had ever been “one people” for all of humanity. It’s a mythical story that people come up with as an excuse to not get their house in order. The whole history of Asia is different empires fighting, same with African tribes and Tribes in the Americas and Middle East. People don’t have the same culture or religion or even diets for all of history, but in your mind want some unity that no race has ever had not even once. Maybe it’s a fantasy, maybe it’s politics or advertising or music, but somewhere black people came into this alternative reality where any group of people on earth has ever been “together”. America had the civil war, and Europe had the world wars, and not once did anyone else “come together”. They did however get their own self in order and protect their families and worked hard despite all that. And really that’s the secret.

    My best friend almost a sister is a lovely black African and closer than any Filipino I met in this 2nd home country. I’m a fili too. It’s true some Filipinos are racist, proud snubbish, don’t care attitude, cold but also there are nice Filipinos. My bestie is African. Some Filipinos are clique, once they are in their lovely group, they can back bite another person in colour. I have experienced it myself at work, they speak derogatory words about this white colleague, which to me didn’t nothing bad. So. I stood up against this bad behaviour of kabayan Filipina who bad mouth this white young lady. A week ago at a new work place another Filipina commented derogatory words for my black lady mentor, and laugh about her standing next to me because she can’t understand any Filipino language. The Filipina colleague seemed revolting. She thinks I go with her racism laugh with her. There’s no excuses for such. What I really like with my African sister in faith, we are the same spiritually, so spirit filled sister in Christ. I’ve never met yet any fili countrymen like her. So Filipinos who says Filipinos are great people, hospitable, friendly, yes there are of those kinds, but take note there are evil ones too, disgusting and racist. Have discernment, don’t trust stereo stereotypes.

    At the end of the Day, the key takeaway is Africans need to start working together and stop hating each other. why call out other people when the real problem is within us. as a Nigerian I don't even care what racism is because the real light-skinned folks have gone past that so why would I be bothered about small-minded folks... but you see the one that still shocks me is the hate from other Africans, in fact they see you doing good and they want to pull you down to their level because they feel all Africans should be security guards because they are security guards.

      Agreed 100% their racism wouldn't mean much at all if all Africans including those in the Diaspora were united and on-code with each other particularly when its against non African/Black people.

      I get aggravated by some black folks that have the insight of an ostrich. How can one not be affected by racism. Yes, you can muster the courage to ignore the blatant disrespect that is racism. However, you cannot say you will ignore small-minded folks. If you are of African descent, having natural curls in your hair, and or thickish ebony/blue to pale skin, you run the chance to be discriminated against. Racist do not consider themselves small-minded. You ignore them. They will smile with you. Then they will take Africa away from the black who ignore racism and don’t support other black.

      I can only guess body odor must be stronger in your climate or it's in your diet or genetics.

    Why is it when it's a positive statement people won't say don't generalize but when it's a negative that's when they try to reject the brought up notion. For instance if you say Philippinos are lovely people, no Philippino will try to respond by denying that not all Philippinos are lovely people because they know it's not general but when you say Philippinos are racist somehow they feel generalized. The deflection won't take the racism point out. We see what they are doing.

All I see in these comments is people playing high and mighty while their own house isn’t in order at all. Would you like other groups to point out education deficits or iq score differential, or political corruption in African nations? Or violent crimes statistics involving African Americans?

    As a Filipino I believe it boils down to ignorance of many of us. I guess most people here wont agree when I say many Filipinos arent racist but instead are prejudiced (we can’t systematically oppress you like western people could), and mostly because historically speaking, we were invaded by western countries. Their influence rubbed on us from culture to language to social settings, with how we “should” perceive races with darker skin color and how the west still depicts darker skinned races even today. I think its also down to superficiality and low self -esteem. People with nonexistent self esteem will always try to look down on anyone to make themselves feel better and that’s regardless of race.
