  • The passing of Many Black women in the Gambia is becoming a very sad thing. Over 6 women from the United States/Britain have passed in the Gambia. One of them was the beautiful and talented @Shakina Chenidu.
A British National, she moved to the Gambia believing in The transformation in Africa. Unfortunately, a hater with bad intentions stole her dream from her.

So Western politicians aren't corrupt? The lobbying by companies to political parties for favours is corruption; the dodgy deals, tax dodging and 'networking' behind closed doors. President Nixon and Watergate was corruption; isn't tax evasion one of the many charges facing Donald Trump?
Yes many African leaders are corrupt but it is hypocritical to suggest that it is only an African disease.

In 2020 I decided to move from ATL to the continent. My first choice was Gambia but after I saw some videos about how the men are, that let me know that it would not be safe for single black American woman. I choose Rwanda instead where they have police on the corners with guns and other countries that are safer. I never had a problem traveling alone, but I agree you need friends from both diaspora and the locals. There are some really great locals but the level of desperation from the poor ones is overwhelming. They want to marry you and I never fell for that because you got to think analytically on the continent. Why would someone you don't know want to marry you.

    • @Serge-cm5my
      @Serge-cm5my Před 6 měsíci +37

You are 💯 right, I say another problem is people from the diaspora making emotional or flawed decisions on moving somewhere.
Without proper research, preparation, and long-term planning on what you're going to do. Like gravitating towards places. Because they took a 23andme test.
It's not going to be easy and straightforward, as you know. Once, you've uprooted your life to countries really at the bottom of the development social. It's not like going to Thailand. Where you can survive getting a random job as an English teacher.
In most of the continent, you can't come looking for jobs or thinking your savings can carry you. It will only go so far. At least have something tangible like a pension, income from a rental, or other such investments from back home. You must create your own opportunities.
Otherwise, you get a bad situation like black Americans living illegally and poorly in Tanzania. A country not as liberal in terms of economics or culture like its neighbours.
Not learning the local language and culture, living in expat only bubbles. And sadly a lot can't come home. Because they sold everything to be there.
While groups like the Chinese, India, and now even Turkish. Thrive and are given the red carpet. Due to coming with goals and having taken the necessary steps to compete and cement their place.
I honestly wish everyone success on their journey and new lives on the continent. However, more honest conversations need to happen more and more. The pan-Africanist outlook can shroud a lot of people's thinking to be in a permanent honeymoney faze and not take serious steps. To set up your affairs. Only once things have hit lest in said country.
Africa is a vast and diverse continent with 53 countries. You'll find where appeals to you and where you can call home. If not, at least you tried. Good luck, everybody 👍.

Oshay, this is just heartbreaking. These are accomplished, beautiful women who went there to build, to give, to help. Now they've died in dreadful ways, now their families are heartbroken and shattered.
You are providing us with the truth. It isn't misogynistic to simply provide the truth, an honest warning, especially when it is something no one wants to hear. It is actually the most loving thing one can do knowing someone somewhere might accuse you of being misogynistic. You are doing good to warn women to take all precautions, even if this means changing their plans and selecting another country in Africa. Thank you for you efforts, I hope no one gives you grief, but gives you their thanks. Many prayers for these women and their families, and for you, too. Stay safe.

Respectfully, I do mentally send a sense of spiritual continuance & love for her family. Seemingly, this particular Black - African Sister was humble, intelligent and well spoken. Yet, I still wonder, did she (as well as the other said murdered Sisters) feel like she/they could do it all on her/their own without the need of a decent man? Is this the usual type of a situation where seemingly and uncontrollably good sisters seek to build their lives surrounded by negatively thinking men ("rulership")? As even I've often commented ( as due to some of my own personal research, I feel that possibly due to some type of advance genetic manipulation from an earlier more advanced bipedal beings) 'Eve' in general is: 'crooked natured', soddish, naive narcissistic, & selfish. That has been one of the main problems that forever prevents overall social correction; thus, they will innately choose to even have their daughters to suffer as opposed to trying to prevent them from suffering the same issues that they, the older generational females had to endure. As said, within the 'Motherland', supposedly this has happened to a total of four to six females recently. I think that two may be considered a coincidence, three and more is a core problem. This woman was a beautiful SPIRIT on this earth, she believed in what she was doing in Africa but Africa didn't believe in her. When you've been treated bad by your oppressors since the 1800's, STOCKHOLM SYNDROME tells you to respect only your oppressors who don't look like you or others in authority over you. AFRICANS have to change Africa. With that being said, there is no way Ms. Chenidu told anyone in the Gambia she was Black American, because she's not. Hearing this woman if you have any discernment you know she is not the lying type. But Juliet is and we have confronted Juliet of BLAXIT about representing herself online as a BLACK AMERICAN and speaking for Black Americans as if we would collectively allow her to speak for us. We have Black Americans in the Gambia who can speak as Black Americans. If anyone knows Juliet, we won't be contacting her again. We will contact the Publications she's speaking to and SHUT HER DOWN, as a FRAUD! We're not going to allow the COSPLAYING and MISREPRESENTATION of our CULTURE again by any group! RIP to this beautiful SPIRIT!

With the exception of one country, every country was listed in East or Southern Africa. This really is heartbreaking on a lot of different levels. As a 51 year old African American woman, I have spent quite a few decades, dreaming and longing to go "home."
I'm not unique in this, of course. I'm also single. That's simply my status.
I have have never, in my adult life felt as if I didn't need a man. And as with my statement before, I am not unique in that. However, that did nothing to change the fact that I didn't have one.
Many of the boys and men that I dated, wanted me to "dumb down" to make them feel better. I couldn't do that. I am who and how God/Olodumare created me. Who am I to ignore any gifts that I have been granted in this life?
I never hated my brothers. I grew up with all brothers. I champion many of their causes. But like a lot of Black women in America (I can't speak for the UK),
I was grouped into a stereotype that I didn't even know existed until a few years ago!
But I haven't lamented. I just put my energies elsewhere, like pursuing spiritual knowledge and transformation.
ANYWAY. I share that part of my life experiences to say that there are so many of us who are alone in this world. We do not have the covering or protection of our men, and not because we have hardened, or emasculated, or pushed them away spouting feminist rhetoric. Our men are just not there. And my apologies if I offend anyone. But, Black women have been abandoned.
So should we give up on the dreams that we've had since childhood, and be content living in a country that hates us like they do our men? I truly ask in hopes of hearing genuine and loving feedback as simply a fellow African. I don't want to have to go to Thailand, Columbia, or any other country or continent. Africa is the place of my descent. Nigeria is written all over me, right down to the gap in my front teeth. But what are we to do?

There is no such thing as paradise here on earth . As long as humans are involved this could happen anywhere.
As a fellow American woman of a certain age - I would implore you to scratch the curiosity of the continent of Africa is to explore with well organized and reputable travel groups . The grass isn’t always greener and here in the USA & it is not as bad as the conversation will have us to think. The USA is huge and a great place to explore as well :-) ASE

@ Wendyj 2833 you should take a trip to Africa with a well known tour company, such as Maximium Impact ,or with some of your males brothers in your family. Don't let your feelings passed you by.
Seems like you're like a lot of Black Americans people who want to experience living in an African country where our people are the majority, and running the countries where our ancestors came from.

@tampfrompensacola Asé Sis. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate, love, and need the advice of my people who may have a different perspective.
First, let me acknowledge that by no means do I believe that anywhere is a utopia. As you said, humans live here. I also don't subscribe to subscribe to beliefs of any ultimate evil or good outside of Olorun and Olodumare. Not to mention that I'm just too friggin old to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed.
I've been blessed to have grown up immersed in African traditions and culture. Although I resisted as a small child who'd already had like 7 years of only knowing about America. But on both my father's side (Bahamian) as well as my mother's (US), there was still a strong sense of "We are African people." And you Will embrace your heritage. Lol.
In the Bahamas, my great great grandmother (who lived until she was 125) shared a lot of history and wisdom with me, including some stories from our ancestors before her who tried to hold on to and pass down knowledge about who we were and where we were from. I found out that it's Yorubaland (Without Ancestry DNA, actually), and I've wanted to go home ever since.
I've been to Nigeria a few times, like when my mom was being spiritually initiated. But never as a full adult, myself.
I'm almost a senior now. And that's where I want to be until I transition.
I like the idea of touring first. It still doesn't negate my frustration with this situation.
And I've visited and lived on just about every coast and in several states. My dad was in the military. The only place left is California, really. Amen. I'm going to need a lot of humility, contemplation, and prayer.
I apologize that this ended up so loooonng. But thank you so much again. Your input gave me things to consider that honestly never crossed my mind. It's good to get views from more angles than my own. Asé.

@nathanielpickens927 Thank you for that. I will check out that tour company. And yes, we've wanted to come home for hundreds of years, not all, but most of us. I've wanted to come since I was around 13 or 15. And that was back in the 1980s.
When our ancestors were taken, it crippled the west and central African economies and built up the structure and foundational wealth of this country. By forcing us to work without wages. And when it supposedly ended. The British and American enslavers were paid reparations because our labor made them wealthy and afforded them the luxury of owning huge amounts of land and properties and to build generational wealth.
Meanwhile, American Africans remained poor and oppressed, and Africa was being colonized, exploited, and robbed. I want to come home to contribute and live out the rest of my life with my relatives, no matter how distant. I've traced my family back to Yorubaland. And I'm proud. I've never felt at home here. And despise our treatment. I'm a highly educated woman with many talents and abilities. I attribute that to the gifts given through my African bloodline. So I want to use them there.

I’ve found that we women have to be extremely careful what men we allow to be close to her - here and abroad. Some men already have deeply rooted issues towards women. Then you add poverty and desperation to the equation, it’s a problem. Let’s Also keep in mind, the world is in economic crisis.

You need to build that trust well IN ADVANCE so that they feel that you are not there to step over them. MHSRIEP

    RIPower to this beautiful woman.
There are plenty of single women in Africa. The issue is that AA women or Black British women are moving in The Gambia/Africa like they would in the UK, and you can’t. Young men don’t seriously date or marry older women; period. You can not befriend men and women from a lower socioeconomic status than you; period. You most certainly can not marry a man that earns significantly less than you. Only date men that you meet via networking in more affluent circles or through friends made in more affluent circles. It is for your own safety. There are older men in Africa that are either widowed, divorced or maybe even never married(rare). Ask friends that you make from more affluent circles to set you up with someone, people do it all the time, so it’s not weird. Lastly, please don’t confuse being sharp tongued and or loud with being “strong” and “liberated”. The kind of man you want to be with in Africa, is not going to stick around for that, because he doesn’t have to.

Great Show Oshe. “The Fish are trying to get out of the Ocean to go Live in a tiny Lake, because they heard it was better” That is what Colonialism has done to Africa. Many people in Africa cannot see any good in this 30 million square kilometer of earth. They want To go to tiny countries outside of Africa where they have heard things are better. Naturally for the African, they will never believe anything you tell them until they experience it for themselves. As they say in Africa, “seeing is believing”
As for the returning diaspora, there is great opportunity in some African countries, however, you must be conscious of your environment. You must be conscious of your security. You must understand that all crime results from two things, “ Need & Opportunity “ There is great need in The Gambia 🇬🇲 Please don’t become the Opportunity

It amazes me that people actually feel safe enought to birth their children into a world like this. I woke up from my delusional dreams at 21 and realized this world is evil, corrupt, demonic, unfair, unjust and we humans are really not serving any true purpose here so there is no reason to perpetuate this life. I will get through this life as best as I can and my bloodline ends with me. My unborn children will never see the evil done under this sun, and I am grateful for this everyday!!!!
