As an African American, living in the U.S., I am finding these conversations to be fascinating and very educational.
Well.. you're lucky you have a USA 🇺🇲 passport
Is it good? ...racism is crazy there.
Yeah I'm like fug Dubai now. Seems like black people are oppressed everywhere.
@@cmartin5903Racsim is rampant
BEING ON HERE HAS MADE ME REALISE HOW STUPID PEOPLE ARE, for years things haven't changed why is this even a discussion
How do Ugandan women ,in particular, and Africans in general tolerate such paternalism, and disrespect in the Middle East??
What even draws them and attracts them there in the first place?
Many people travel for repatriation and are victims of exploitation.
Because a lot of people come from very humble circumstances even in their home countries. In the Middle East, they're at least getting paid. Not taking a side one way or the other, just stating a reality.
Unfortunately if you’re working in their country you work under their rules . There’s paternalism everywhere it just looks different !
No welfare in Africa or Uganda in particular 😂
Me Joanita thank God I started as a receptionist now I have been a manager for 8yrs.
Thanks to my Australian Boss who believed in me and saw beyond the colour.
He gave me a chance to grow into my position and even though we have other nationalities in the Company who try and make it difficult for me, he’s always there to listen to me.
I sit on the table and he lets me make important decisions for the business.
He’s a rare one help shout out to my Boss Mr Jake T
Your color is an asset, not something to be ‘looked past’. Blessings.
So proud of you 👏❤
Love hearing this
As someone who's still living in the UAE for the past 6 years,I can relate to life experience in Dubai. The citizens (emarates)of the country are very good people. The problems Africans have a mostly racism and discrimination from others nationalities who came to work there too.its more difficult if you are a woman. We pray and hope our Africans leaders create more jobs opportunities and a safer environment to limit the movement to people to this injustices done to Africans.
Stand Up for your self as an African when you meet wanna be foreigners
yeah
Why not seek work in other African countries. Blacks are discriminated against in most foreign countries.. That's a fact.
I Agree; why does Africa not have more going on for it's people. The countries look so outdated and behind. They say it's a rich country with resources but why do we ever see it. Why don't they invest more in their people instead of having them run to the west to get an education to pursue an occupation to get out of poverty.
Google how Gazans treat Black people - the black people live in an area called the "Slave Village".
I lived in Las Vegas, and I was called in for jury duty. I met an attractive black young lady who worked at a hotel, and she explained to me that she was asked for an opportunity to have a job in Dubaii. Before she even started, they had her sign a contract for at least a year. In Las Vegas, it is a very diverse community, which she was used to. She said the rich people treated her so badly that in spite of the length of the contract, she had to cut the assignment short and went back home. She told me that she would never go back there. It is sad she was treated badly, I felt for her. Even white women have to be careful, because there are cases of rape and violence with laws being against women over the men there. For that reason alone, I would not go there, even though people say it is beautiful. In addition there is a huge separation between the ubber rich and the poor. The Arabs are into hiring models for prostitution and they will pay a lot of money, however they do disgusting things to beautiful women, they have no respect for American and European women, yet they are strict to their own women. It is very hypocritical. Even the Arabs that come to Las Vegas think American women are prostitutes. Because I have blonde hair, they treat me like I should sleep with them, especially since I am not Muslim. Not all Arabs think that way, but in my experience most of them do. I don't accept their culture, religion, or behavior, so I could never sleep with them, it grosses me out.
You're 100% correct. I dated a Persian man for 3 years and he told me never to travel to Arab counties as a black woman or even as an American. He told me so many stories about how many despises Americans.
You missed the part where she said it is the Indians who treat the girls this way. Also, in this and an earlier video the girls said the Arabs are very nice to work for. They are a minority in their own country tho.
@@ahmedopone4080 It depends. Even as an American, there are people that I would not want to be around. Some people I could be around all day long. Every group of people have the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. India treats women badly, and their laws only work for those willing to pay for justice. Can you imagine how men behave when they do not want educated women, in fact they do not like a woman with intelligence, except in certain families. They look at women as a liability, because the man's family force her to pay to marry a man, then she is at the mercy of her husband and the in-laws. Meanwhile she is expected to do all the work with no pay.
@@jmallett6081 I 100% agree. I know this about Indians and they also have a very anti-black sentiment which oozes out without restraint. Best not to find yourself in a subservient position. This is even a bigger issue because this can come from Indian men AND women. I was commenting about how Arabs (specially Emiratis) get blamed for the actions of these immigrants.
They're a bunch of hypocrites! They have no respect for other women that are not Muslims. Vodka is forbidden in Islam(Haram) but they drink it in water bottles.
Oshay, the bottom line is that these women from Uganda felt as though there were no opportunities for them in Uganda, so they heard stories and quickly left to go to Arab countries. As result many of them took risks and suffered consequences. Ranging from minor to horrific. Religion matters little as to the extent of their experiences. She may have done better by the way she went there, her unique beauty, her savvy, and maybe even her prayers per her level of understanding in her faith. Let's look at the advantages of how she went: 1. She did her research 2. She obtained a tourist/visitor visa 3. She did not have to surrender her passport 4. I wonder if she initially got a round-trip ticket and changed it later 5. She had freedom of movement as a tourist and could look for work on her own 6. She could leave anytime she like. A lot of things could have went wrong also but it seems that she was fortunate. Lastly, Most Muslims claim Sunni but there is also Shia and Sufi, and other minor sects as well. Thanks for your videos. What makes me feel hopeful is the revelation that there are (Black) Muslims in Uganda. Thank You.

EXACTLY. Religion has nothig to do with it. In the west the European/American Christians slaughtered and hand chattle slavery on blacks who they forced to convert to Christianity which made zero difference to white people.
Yes. This is true. 90-95% of Muslims are Sunni or Salafi Muslims. This is closest to the original teachings. Anyway, there are 14% Muslims in Uganda, but most of Africa is Muslim, so no surprise.

As a person we should realise not everyone is going to like you, when going to foreign countries some people are compassionate some don't especially when you don't look like them.
But it shouldn't come to violence or these ladies coming back in coffins or running for their lives
Beautiful, this lady just said exactly what’s on ground, I’ve been leaving in Dubai for 10 years but she’s been spot on with everything she said , not like the other lady who was opening her mouth any how
@sidehustle ...You Jackass. She is not the one to define reality, she simply tells her experience, which is not the same with others.. Humans live and have different situations. 🆗. Dont be ignorant.

As a South Sudanese, I cannot tolerate disrespect from any Muslim. Men and women fought back in the last civil war. If we’re gonna die, we’re going to die together.
You mean Arab? The religion is not a race nor does it have anything to do with it.
16:58 I'm not Egyptian, but i am Arab, thank you Egyptian guy for being a good representation to Egyptians and decent people, you have brought some people joy and happiness to my heart :) ... may Allah reward you in this life and the afterlife :D
hahahhaa , ok he's a bit of an ass, but he got straight :)
What after life are you talking about? It' only profit a person to live once, there's no life after death, once you've lived your life here on earth, when you die you are gone forever. If there was a after life, don't you think your love ones that had be long gone before you would come back by now or, reach out to you telling you what their new after life is all about???
@@Hadass32 It's their belief? Muslims don't believe that there is contact between people on Earth and people in the afterlife. Christians believe that. I don't know if all of them do.
People are surprised by this. Dubai is the city built by gold from the Congo, African blood gold.
Oshay look like he is losing weight 🫡
Interesting conversation
Ok it’s easy to criticize whole group of based one persons experience. So how do the African men treated African ladies? Let’s talk about that?
Exactly African men love to elevate other races of women and uses and put down black women. Most of these men will treat arab women better than black women.
We must be more mindful when traveling to foreign countries. If it's not our country we cannot overstay and do as we want to do based on feeling that you actually have rights! If you're not a citizen your rights are what that country says they are. BTW, why be bothered with a country that has the tallest building in the world and it has no toilet sewerage? That should tell you something! I'm just saying...
🎯🎯 absolutely. Especially the sewage or lack of it. What a hustle.

Because africans are so used to letting foriegn people stay in their countries and do whatever they want with no consequences, they believe that they can do the same in other countries. That will not happen because these other non black people have pride within their group and their country.
I just started the video and want to correct this.Jamila is not a practicing Muslim. From looking at her appearance, she is not dressed modestly as is mandatory according to the laws of our religion. Maybe she prays which is good but a practicing Muslim is recognizable esp if its a woman
As Salaamu Alaykum, I personally don’t know this sister to judge her relationship with God but when she said she was a practicing Muslim I was a bit confused by how they had her showing her body in the beginning. I think that was inappropriate especially knowing that she was going to advocate for women and prostitutes… and speak against them being exploited because they are black and beautiful, it’s a lot going on , I was confused too. Great observation though sister.
People, please when things are going well, save as much as possible.
She is a Muslim and does not know the difference between Sunni and Shia Islam? That's like being a Christian and knowing the difference between being a Catholic and a Baptist, she's right about one thing though, she's not deep into it, and her lack of interest is interesting.
Her storytelling is very hard to follow. I would not watch again if she were featured. I like the other girl Esther who lived in Dubai and they interviewed (the one who talked about the living quarters and the Filipinos).
We understand and agree with you. Incidentally, since you mentioned Catholics and Baptists, you mighty be surprised to know that some members of both denominations do not even know that Baptists and Catholics are branches of Christianity. Therefore, it's not difficult to realize that many people have only superficial knowledge about their religion.
Like I said these people who profess to believe tend to not want to question what and why they believe certain things. You are right though, it's not just an Islamic trait.@@sandraatkins2539
I was raised Baptist Christian and know many Christians that don't even understand that Catholics are Christians. 🥴 They also don't understand that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all Abrahamic religions.
Oshay called her a practicing Muslim. 😅 Practicing Muslim ladies wear the headscarf. Yeah I found it strange for her to not know if she was a Sunni or not. She seem to not even know what Sunni was. I think she really doesn't have a clue what her religion teaches.
Being an African Muslim woman in Dubai was the worst...Turkey too. Senegal was the best
She talks like Tyla. love her accent

Blacks need to be more concerned where and who their are supporting when we spend our dollars. We, should not support and empower countries and cultures of people who exploit, ridicule and abuse our Black and African people globally. As a United people, we can and should demand respect and accountablity for discriminatory actions against our people; proof of which is the foot print of colonists; colonization and colonism ..................

In January 1964 Field Marshall John Gideon Okello a Ugandan Luo-Langi led a revolution in Zanzibar that deposed the Omani Arabs led by Jamshid Bin Abdullah .
The Omani Arabs had previously participated in the subjugation and enslavement of the local black bantu populations for at least 500 years and John Gideon Okello was shocked when he arrived in Tanzania after working in Kenya and being jailed in Kenya during the emergency(1952-60) period under white rule for suspicion of collaboration with the nationalists .

I liked Porsha, Isabella and this one are well composed ugandan ladies, their stories seem to be differing from the first two people u brought.
There are many luck people in dubai who get those jobs which pay $1200.
Thats good money for someone who doesnt have a job at home or who earns $300 per month.
The people who suffer alot are those ones who go to middle east without any formal qualifications. I learng that majority of ugandan gals doing house keeping ,cleaning do not have even a senior four certificate or senior six certificate, which means they are given jobs basing on their CVs.
Those who have diplomas and degrees have higher chances of working in restaurants and payments and treatment is not bad. Therefore while bring those ladies on the podcast u shd also dig into their education background or CV.

Yup that lady doesn’t know which faith she is actually practising 🤔🤔🤔 she ideally should know about Shia and Sunnis and she doesn’t, now that’s concerning too see
Actually before media most Muslims never heard of Shia or Sunni. They considered themselves just Muslim or Ahlu sunna wa jamaaca. That's the reality. Don't let western media and sectarians confuse you and think we are divided. If she was dressing as a muslimah, which I hope she was, she'd quickly find her privilege in the UAE also.
this woman is not a muslim, she doesnt even know whether she's shiite or sunni
True. And she presents herself as "practicing muslim" 😂
Yeah her not knowing is interesting. but she could be new to Islam and want to further her interest. I been Muslim since I was in my early 20's about 10 years now I'm neither sunni or shia. Nor have I ever been to dubai nor have I ever been inside of a mosque. But I'm Muslim.
Who cares. Most of these Muslim countries aren’t filled with good humans. Just like in America and these evangelical.
It’s haram to call out someone who is saying he /she is Muslim. She explains about praying so nice 👍 that mean she is Muslim. And sure she is Sunni because Islam is Sunnah 💛💛💛
I think she converted just to fit in
Who is really shocked?
When you accept a faith that says you are cursed and will be servants, why be surprised when you are mistreated. God gave us spiritually, man gave us religion. Choose wisely. Africa's two biggest problems are Christianity and Islam.
Where does it say that in Islam? Lying to suit your ideological zealotry doesn't help

I randomly walk into the Emirates Bank in Egypt. I don't have an account there. I told the security I was American looking to withdraw money from my US bank account in usd, could they assist me. Some Emirati guy rushed over invited me to make myself comfortable. Extremely helpful and gracious. The 2nd Emirati, I met lives in my building he helped my driver find me one morning when i was going somewhere. The banker asked me what I needed and I explained and he talked to me for 10 minutes really helpful information too. Black American women hear this we do not have problems with Arabs, they treat us as equals. In most cases your spirit matters.
You’re right. I think the people on the panel may be dealing with classism verses racism and don’t realize it. Not that classism is any better. Black people from the west tend to get a different response due to many factors that I don’t want to list in fear of unintentionally insulting some people. If they realize it’s classism , they may be able to better navigate
Many Arabs are what some call "skin color racists," meaning if you are the color of the people on the panel, they view you as an inferior. If you are significantly lighter, you are viewed in a much more positive light. Malcolm was not considered Black when he went to Saudi Arabia; therefore, he was embraced as one of them. After his assassination, his wife also made the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. She said she failed to understand what her husband meant about being accepted as one of them because the women were unfriendly towards her. Dr. Betty was very dark-skinned; therefore, she was regarded as an inferior. Sharing a common faith did not make those racists view her as an equal. Thus is similar to the racism expressed by White Christians in America towards those Christians who are not White. In both cases, this racism is evil.God is not a racist..
@sandraatkins2539 It's classism, not necessarily racism. Their exposure to darker skin black people are servants. Some are colorists. I'm lighter than Zoe Saldana but darker than Tamar Braxton. My skin color has never been an issue. I'm in the range. I don't offend anyone, but I always thought of myself as brown. I do know I move in the same circles as they do as far as lifestyle. Black men are always talking about black women at the desperate chick and good time girl levels. But never those of us at the dream girl or Bugatti out of their league levels. Off our own accomplishments plus family backgrounds. Doors are open to us everywhere.
@@sandraatkins2539no but he's against the evil shit in people's hearts. These Africans came to my country as refugees within the last 20 years and the way they treated me was disgusting. Her storytelling is hard to follow. She speaks in generalities minus specifics. It would have been helpful if she gave specific years when she was there, or if she was talking COVID era that’s why so many lost their jobs and ended up on the street.
For example, when she mentioned the ruler of Dubai passing, that was the president of the whole UAE and Abu Dhabi and he died in 2014, not recently. She made it sound like it was the current one.

Sheikh Khalifa passed away in May of 2022, he was the President and Ruler of the UAE after Sheikh Zayed (his father) passed away in *2004.
I think they didn't want to ask her for specifics because they suspect she was a paid 304. They don't want her to feel bad. Africans don't go to Dubai to be common waitresses let alone be able to survive on waitress salaries. They sense she was more than just a "waitress"
@@SonnyBoshe said the ruler but didn’t even name him - that’s what I mean. I know another father died in 2022 but she said the current ruler. My point is her storytelling is hard to follow
@@kokoyarooh schnapps! Ok wow! Ok that would make sense also the vagueness - she probably wanted to forget what she did there. Wow!
Point of correction . The Philipino racism it’s not about being African. It’s black even if you are black American of Canadian, it’s the same thing. They think they are better than black people. It’s not only in Dubai
