    Love your honest no nonsense detailed reviews. I was ready to purchase two of these after seeing your review above…and then I saw your reviews about the Yamaha DXS18XLF sub…. 😂

    Very helpful. Was looking at different brands of 2x18s. Probably going with 4 of these. Bar metal band 100-200 people

      You'll definitely get better sound with 4 of the single 18" vantec cabinets than two of the dual 18" cabinets. I think it's mostly because of the cabinet size. I've owned both and always thought the single 18" cabinets sounded better. Just be gentle with them I've had more shifted magnets with these subs than with any other. So don't set them down too hard when they are hot.

    Thank you for this review man I’ve been deciding whether or not to get vantec 218a or single 18a for a small club that’s 500sq ft.

      218a is unreal if your giving a good clean signal sounds great with 114a fbt

    I started out with the QSC KW181 about a couple years ago and they are still great. With that being said, I find as I hear different manufacturers subs the more I feel like investing in other sub manufacturers. I love the Dual SRX 18's but way too heavy to tote around. I also use the gator worm gear poles and these use the M20 thread but when you extend them up they tend to sway which isn't very pleasing. I don't know anyone currently using DAS subs. I am starting to see the mid levels production company's I work with investing in such as FBT and RCF.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 5 lety +1

      The KW181 is a good sub and can still hold it's own pretty well against other subs. It's definitely due for an update though. I looked back and it's been on the market for over 8 years without an update. I assume QSC must be working on something. Newer sub that have come out within the last couple years definitely have an advantage over the QSC. Speaker technology has improved as well as the Digital Signal Processing that goes into modern speakers. I've been leaning towards buying more RCF gear as I really like my EVOX J8. Their stuff is good quality but a little expensive. I'm probably going to try out the Yamaha DXS18XLF. I've never owned Yamaha speakers but I'm willing to give them a shot.

      @@TheAngrySoundTechthe local college runs Yamaha speakers and digital mixers. I've been considering Yamaha. They just sound good, and take a beating!

      @@XIIMonkeysMusicGroup I've switched probably about 70% of my speaker inventory over to Yamaha. Currently trying to decide if I go with a DM7 for my next mixer. It's a good chunk of change but would probably last me the rest of my career as an audio tech.

    To answer your question about the magnet being glued and not bolted is mainly because of the brittleness of the magnet if you try bolting it, it will crack.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 5 lety

      Is it weird that I now want to try boiling one of those magnets? Lol Thanks for letting me know why. I was always curious as to why they were glued.

    Hi there. Can you tell me does the does the satellite x over button on the 18a need to be pressed when connecting a 15a top. Im confused it says on the manual not to press it and to press it on the DAS promotion video on CZcams. Thanks in advance.

  • @henrik-gerdbischoff6204

    Hey!
    Im looking for a good sub for my band. Do would you still recommend the DAS Vantec 18a? Or is there something better/comparable you could piont me to?
    Thanks in advance!

    What do you know about the vantec 118a? How powerful is it and how does it compare to jbl? Like srx or vrx?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 5 lety +1

      I have not had the opportunity to use the Vantec 118a but based on the specs it looks like it's just a modified version of the Vantec 18a. The 118a is designed so that it can be hung with the Vantec 20a. If you don't have any need to hang a subwoofer I would just get the 18a and save some money. The Vantec series is the same caliber of speaker as a JBL SRX or EV ETX.

    Hello, I want to make a decision about the small portable system for my rock band (we play loader).
    I think Vantec series is great for us:
    Version 2xSUB 18A and 2x12A or
    Version 2xSUB 18A and 2x15A? Thank you for your help!

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před rokem

      I feel like the decision between 12" and 15" tops is fairly personal preference. I tend to prefer 12" tops because they are a little more punchy than a 15" is. Smaller drivers have quicker response times. But I've mixed many bands with 15" tops as well. I always feel like the mix is just a little different but sounds just as good!

      The event series is better. Same drivers and about the same size cabinet but there is a noticeable difference due to the better amp.

      @@TheAngrySoundTech what would you recommend as tops to a vantec 218 or a event 218?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 3 lety

      If I was buying the Vantec 218 subs I'd get the 215 tops to match. I ran that system for quite some time and it worked pretty good. The vantec 215a isn't my favorite 3 way cabinet but I rented it regularly to a band that loved it. Also just a note the Event 218A subs are way better but they are a beast to move around if you stack two on a dolly plate. For regular gigs I'd do the Vantec 218 subs instead even though the event series is much better sound wise. I only used the Event subs at concerts. The vertical design of the Vantec 218 makes it more versatile for different sized gigs.
