    "Really love your videos! Trying to decide between DXR12 Mkii and ART-912. For events and rental. Yamaha has neo Celestion driver vs RCF ferrite comp driver. 3 vs 7 year transferable warranty. Do you have any thoughts about the sound differences, electronics, or experience with both companies? Thanks!!"
    And of course my rambling 22 minute reply. lol

      No problem! Once you get me babbling about pro audio gear it's hard to get me to stop. lol Sometimes I think about doing live stream Q&A's just to chat about gear.

    How do you feel about the DXR MKII series vs. the MK1s? I'm debating between DXR12 MKII or DZR10 to go over my DXS12 MKII subs... Also might be getting some Presonus Air tops to test shortly. 6 year warranty and the 12s/15s look sweet for the price.

    Not my experience with rcf !I have had every brand also but my evox12 is my go to most of the time for 200 to 300 peeps!but I aim a drummer and use these strictly for live band used.i do have the top of the line ev 18/15sand I get more compliments with the rcf.rcf owns db technology also they have been building there own drivers since the 50s all the rcf is all Italy in house made these are work horses.i have had Yamaha dxr tops and subs sold em right away . I find that RCF is really one of the top line speakers. Specially, for vocals I get nothing but compliments with these boxes I’ve had them two or three ties I’ve always come back to them.

    Something was up with my volume can you type that all out?? 😂 Glad you did this video...my use case is not as extensive as yours but after trying a bunch of different brands (including RCF) I have came back to the Yamaha DXR series myself for various reasons (for now anyways).

    R f does have an excellent robust speaker range so if you only use rcf you really can get exactly what you need. I think EV is really a great value and built well and ev has longer product cycles so you can get into products over time and have matching equipment.

    Every conversation about evox12 or other column arrays always mentions adding a sub to help with sound. Well... that defeats the purpose of the column systems, doesn't it?
    I can't get away from the quality and versatility of a point source system. I love my yamaha dxs and dxr speakers.

    • @DJLEOdamadprofessor
      @DJLEOdamadprofessor Před 7 měsíci +2

      Physics all column arrays just don’t get as loud or as low as our traditional systems. Most people are using column arrays as a one size fits all because they’re so easy. Evox 12 is weird cause it’s really close to 15 inch standalone sub but it is tuned higher. We are approaching a point where we will be going back subs and tops.

    I think you mentioned that you got rid of the Yamaha DXS18-XLF subs... curious why so and what did you go with instead?
    Edit: nevermind I see you answered this already in a comment below! thanks!

      I was just doing some downsizing as I got rid of my shop during COVID and brought my business home. When I bought the Yamaha system I was building a street dance sound system for band sound or bigger DJ shows. With my downsizing and selling of my trailer I decided not to book as many band shows. Since then I have focused more on rentals, corporate audio and wedding dances. With that in mind my subwoofers are currently EAW RS115 15" powered subs. Much easier to load up into peoples back seats when they rent them. They also work just fine for the size gigs I'm doing these days. But honestly they do not compare to the DXS18XLF's. Those Yamaha's are top tier as far as non-touring gear goes. I have currently begun buying the QSC LA108's to have a portable yet scalable system so eventually I might buy some better subs to go with them but for now I'll use the RS115's.

      External mixers should be plugged into the LINK INPUT and not CH 1-3.

    So you got rid of the Yamaha DZR315's? I was thinking of buying a pair and having two of them + four Yamaha DXS18XLF's to make my "big" ground stack. Have you tried that? I have the DZR12's and DXS18XLF's now and love them.

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That is the exact system I had. Two DZR315 and 4 DXS18XLF. It's a great system. I just found myself not using it much or always finding a reason to bring a smaller system. It's a little tough to get the top cabinet on the subs for one person. Not impossible but tough. And that's the only way you can use the system. Big ground stack or not at all. I wanted to be more versatile with my inventory as I didn't always need a big ground stack.

    Was the shifted magnet on your Yamaha sub covered under warranty?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 4 měsíci

      They said they were going to cover it even though they weren't supposed to. In the end I never got one in the mail so I ended up ordering one for over $400 out of pocket.

    If you are a DJ and you’re looking for bottom man that don’t get a system that is a 15 inch driver. This is not a subwoofer. Otherwise you have to add an additional subwoofer with the J eights that is a 12 inch driver not a 12 inch subwoofer

    The RCF active tops are phenomenal. Not a fan of the column systems though, either. I've got some some older entry level Art 3 cabs 310As, 312A, 315A and they do honestly sound a little better than my Yamaha DXR cabs (and I love my DXRs) If I compare my newer (2022) DHR10 cabs to my 10 year old Art 310As MK1, the RCF have both more output and sound better overall. They are uglier, and if ever they break and I need parts, I'm f_cked, but the MK1 310As are some of the loudest little cabs I've owned. Rated at 127DB, but with a 2.5'' VC neodymium woofer (600 watt program), RCF cheaped out when they released the MK2, 3, 4... Standard ferrite magnets and 2'' voice coils. I'm keeping my MK1s until they die... Still waiting to review DZR10s or 12s, but backorderded since 2020 it seems, here in Canada anyway.

    Why did u sell your Yamaha Dxs18xlf subs?

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  Před 3 měsíci

      During Covid I got rid of my shop and brought my business home. This caused me to do some downsizing gear wise and as such I decided to focus more on corporate audio over band sound. So I didn't need a large ground stack sound system anymore. They are great subs and I would recommend them. But I just don't need them for what I'm currently doing sound wise.

    Rcf has parts issues in a very bad way. A blown woofer is indefinitely back ordered and they stated to me contact a dealer good day. Not a fan
