    Great Review with to the Point facts. Also a very nice Clear voice without shouting or ranting like some reviewers. I just ordered Yamahas DXR 10's so now I feel well informed when it's time to step it up with subs.

    Great video. I actually took your advice earlier this summer and got an RCF 705as II. It's exactly what I need in a sub. Light enough to carry around myself but still beefy and loud enough to satisfy. I use Yamaha tops, too...dxr 12s...and that probably explains why I took your advice seriously....Yamaha DXR tops are absolutely fantastic but j experimented with a Yamaha 15" sub for a day and it was way too heavy.
    Great video. Yamaha tops and rcf sub have made for a killer system.

    Thank God my subs are 32kg each becausePacking up home at 2:00 am after gig. makes things more heavier.
    Nice choice in my experience

  • @ThunderRoadDreams
    @ThunderRoadDreams Před 3 lety +5

    there is no replacement for size and weight when it comes to subs. The RCF's cabinet walls will flex if its lighter weight, you loose a a db or so due to cabinet walls flexing as the the energy is converted into movement instead of sound. The best subs are the ones where you knock on the side and you don't hear a hollow sound solid multi birch ply with tons of bracing. Manufacturers have started allowing flexing to reduce the weight. That said, the RCF is as good as it gets for that price point and weight.

    You should give the JBL 815 XLF a try. I’ve auditioned this sub against the Yamaha 15 inch and the RCF 705. Although it’s not as “tight” as the RCF, the JBL performed like a beast in the low end. And it’s another 3 kilo lighter and it includes a on board dsp chip with smartphone/tablet control. :)

    • @djmistap5979
      @djmistap5979  Před 6 lety

      Agreed...that's a good assessment of them. The DSP does a great job on the Yamaha's. My only caveat is that the Yamaha's have a tough time keeping that up all night. Partly due to the size (12 vs 15) and partly due to the DSP on the 12 pushing the speaker beyond what it should be capable of doing. The Yamaha will limit way before the RCF and won't hold the lowest frequencies all night. Just my observations..YMMV

But equal speakers with similar attributes and amps the larger sub wins...period. If you don't belive me, bring over your 12"inch sub and lets run it against an RCF dual 21" sub. I'll even turn the 21" down to 7'oclock.

      @Scott 1I agree with you there. I play all kinds of music, but I have been getting a lot more pop and hip hop and Latin party playlists. I am currently caught between the QSC K12.2 and the Yamaha DXR12 as mains. The K12.2s have a great amount of bass for 40-60 guest dance floors. Have not been able to listen to the Dxr12 because no one keeps them in stock in here. However i know the Yamahas have a brighter top end (which I love being a current EV speaker owner) I just listened to the Dxr10s and I liked the brighter top end better than the k12.2s.

    • @djmistap5979
      @djmistap5979  Před 6 lety +2

      Hey Scott,
      Been doing this a long time bro. The best sound reinforcement is your bass speakers on the floor near a wall if possible and your mids/highs in the air where the sound can travel. This is an indisputable fact.
      Low Freq's do best on the ground and near walls. This is the most efficient way to deliver bass. Putting only 2-ways or 3-ways in the air means you are wasting that low freq using the least efficient method possible. Put those mains on the floor and you waste the highs.
      Your statement that you don't need a Sub is factually correct, but in reality makes no sense.
      Keep in mind that as a mobile DJ, there is no answer to the question you just asked. We play everything. When I do club work I can pick a genre and people pay to come here that style of music. When you are mobile you are paid to play multiple styles of music.
      My video was to help people who understand this and are interested in these products. There are other videos where you can argue the merits of passive vs active, 2 way vs 3 way, amp vs bi-amp or LPF/HPF vs X-over.

      Hey! Sorry on late reply on your comment from a few weeks ago. I actually just run my sub off my booth output channel, separately from my tops. I hook up the master outs to my top PA speakers left and right and run one quarter inch to XLR cable to my one RCF sub. I set the top speakers to regular full range, but turn off the "D" countour that boosts bass and highs on it, if I"m using the subs. I've always preferred the sound of the full range of the tops even if using with a sub. Since I can easily adjust the sub volume with the booth output volume knob, I can control the levels of the mix easily. I don't think this is really the typical "normal" way to do things, but I find it works pretty well and gives me more control than doing it otherwise.

    People are fooled with the name, RCF contains low quality amplifiers, low quality DSP. YAMAHA uses much highe quality amplifier, Much powerful DSP, In addition to the build quality, you cannot compare RCF to YAMAHA. I would go to the YAMAHA for sure.

    Yamaha all the way..7 yr warranty can't beat that! All Yamaha spkrs are amazing! RCF yeah lighter in weight cuz it uses cheap components! Your review is very unfair 12 with 15 inch...👎!
