Led by EPICA guitarist & songwriter Mark Jansen, MAYAN's second studio album, ANTAGONISE, is out now. The album was recorded at Sandlane Studio with producer Joost van den Broek (REVAMP, STREAM OF PASSION). Guests on the album include: Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP), Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION), and Greek virtuoso violinist Dimitris Katsoulis.

To all those whining about the vocals: This isn't Epica. If Mark wanted to do what he does with Epica, he wouldn't create Mayan. This is a symphonic DEATH metal band, get over it. As for the person asking them to make something like After Forever: NO. This stuff is damn BRUTAL. There dozens of A.F. copycats out there, this shit is not something we commonly hear. Mayan, along with Septicflesh and Fleshgod Apocalypse are taking symphonic metal to the next level.

This is absolutely great! I don't know what I do like more - this Album or "The Quantum Enigma". Both of them are Mark Jansen at his best.

rarely mention something about a band but with this I stand excellent music and better content, so congratulations on excellent band
the lyrics are actually quite good in my opinion, its clear that this band is trying to give its audience the vieuw of what fucked up life , government , society etc we actually live in and what people are capable of doing when given the power !!!! the lyrics should not be mystical but crystal clear as has been done on the entire album, this album is a wake up call to most of you ;)

I wish that one day Mark does something in the vein of the old After Forever days. I don't understand the need to make everything fast and heavy. Kudos for including a great clean male voice. The song is good but nothing more.

The Keyboard is a lot better then the last album it has more presence in the song. Clean Vocals could of had better lyrics. But im really excited for the new album...

I think its pretty good so far despite the other opinions, honestly it sounds better than Super Kollider from Megadeth (Was excited for that one but meh). Also DT's construct won't let down.
there is some dimmu borgir in this. Not bad at all,but not good,a band that sadly sounds like many others on nuclear blast.
Reminds me a bit of SHIELD. :D :D But I don't like this song very much, some parts are good, but it seems like they don't fit together well. My opinion.

She's a good singer, but i'm tired of reading "Floor" everywhere... She's not the only fucking singer on this planet, and if Mayan wanted her to sing this, they'd do it. Leave the fucking singer sing his male part alone !

Vocals are like 10000x better.
I don't like that one part that's out of time and the simplicity of the lyrics, but that piano, then violin solo more than makes up for that.

they have indeed similar voice, but if you listen well, they are quite different. Khan doesn't have the flexibility voice as Basse.

I have read most of the comments here, and i have to sum up it objectively as I can.
1. This song is STRONG. Having several different parts in it makes it really interesting.
2. The lyrics are good, and the message is strong and true. But, they could be much more advanced, obscene, stylized. not just the simple everyday talk. "feel free to screen us"? -_-
3. The clean vocals could be more processed and stylized, it doesn't sound like they couldn't do better with their melody lines.
4. Floor is a MARVELOUS singer and that's why she puts herself and wanted everywhere, as a real artist should do. I am sure the band spotted her on the album where she belongs. and if not, it's all a matter of taste :)
5. The violin solo is indeed great and taking this song to a different level. However they could give it more "stage" (=presence) on front of the track.
