    I am starting to vlog a lot more lately and my camera of choice is the DJI Pocket 2. Compact, lightweight, versatile, and decent image quality.
    Sure my mirrorless camera will give me a better image but it is heavier and more complicated for my run and gun style of shooting. What about you, do you use the Pocket 2 for Vlogging?

    Thanks for the information and tips. Very informative and well presented.
    I've had this camera fora whilee now but haven't used it much and I am just trying to get as much information as possible so I can hopefully get some goof footage on my upcoming PCT hike. I will be vlogging and using this camera and excited to see what it all had to offer.
    It gets to feel overwhelming though so hoping to remember everything I have watched on CZcams. Practice makes perfect right!
    I'm gonna check out some of your other videos and your other channel 😁

    Great video. I like that your content actually delivered on what the title promised. You also edited the video so every frame contributed to that promise.
    I'm subscribing not only because the content is relevant but also because you were very considerate of our time.

    That was some great tips Dave. I just need some time to take a bunch of footage and just learn all the functions and just have a fun weekend. I think it is a fun little camera.

      Hi Ron, thanks for the note. Ya this is one of those weird cameras that you just need to play with it for sometime before you get comfortable with it. Don't be too hard on yourself as well, it's an odd camera to shoot with, but I love it.

    Hey Dave, I'm a small CZcamsr myself and I got a Pocket 2 for Christmas (I specifically asked for it). I'm looking forward to using it for more vlog-style videos - which I haven't done a lot of up until now. Your video was very helpful!

      @DavidDavies  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Jack, that's awesome. I hope you really enjoy it. I use some really high end cameras but I always say the Pocket 2 is by far my favourite camera to use. I hope you enjoy it. Don't get frustrated at first, it's an odd little camera but you will get it.

    Ha could you be anymore Canadian! Wooden fence in the backyard, Canadian flag flying and a canoe in the background. I love it. I actually checked out your new channel and I am loving it. Well done Dave. My other tip for vlogging is to not vlog in front of strangers. I get to nervous!

    Do you have any suggestions for improving additional lighting at night with an accessory or attachment to the Pocket 2 or extension rod? I'm looking for improved lighting at night close up wildlife in the Costa Rican Rain forest. Thanks!

    Thanks for these videos. I've been thinking about picking up a Pocket 2. I'm planning on doing walking and talking videos outside. How is the Auto mode? My current setup is the Osmo Action on auto mode. Video turns out okay, but it's a little tight and the minimum focus distance seems a little tight.

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the comment. The pocket 2 is great for walking and talking. I use it all the time my other YT channel, The Lazy Camper CZcams channel. It is so small and lightweight it's great. I would put it on some kind of extension pole and stick so that you can hold it further away from you. I also have the Osmo Action and I find the Pocket 2 to be much better video quality. Auto mode is fine. I shoot in manual mode but I have been shooting for a long time and I am comfortable in manual. I would suggest using auto then once you get comfortable give manual a try. Either way it takes practice with the Pocket 2, it's such an odd little camera. Good luck.

    Nice Video Dave. Yep, I have been using the Osmo Pocket and the Pocket 2 a lot. Hiking and Backpacking with one of the Pockets is great fun without too much wight. As you can see on my Channel, I did a few videos on multi-days backpacking trips into Sierra Nevada with the Pocket 1. More will follow. As for the FaceTracking.... Pocket 2 has a huge issue (Pocket 1 is great), especially in high quality mode... looks like the hardware cannot handle the computing needed for it. I have the same issue like you have, all the time and made a video about it and also am in communication with DJI .... but they take their sweet time to fix that issue...
    Anyway, great content you have on you channel. I will subscribe and also check your other outdoors channel as it seems like we have a similar passion of technology and the outdoors.
    Cheers from LA.

      Hi Mark, thanks for the note, I just subscribed. You content looks great. I am glad you agree about the facetracking, some people say it works well but not for me. It really is a great camera for the outdoors stuff, very light, good quality, sure you have to baby it a bit but it's totally worth it.

    Did you try putting the pocket on a extending selfie stick to make like a fake crane shot?

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  Před 3 lety

      Hi Kamil, yes I have tried that. That is a great tip. It really does work well and it's so easy compared to a real crane shot. Have you tried it?

    Hi can you help me. When I record i get so many files. I shoot long video's and there are a lot of files maybe 10 to 14. Is there a setting that will keep it in just one file? I do not stop it. Then when I put it in the edit softwire there are so many files . Thanks

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi there, yes DJI and many other companies have a 2 gig limit per file, or some kind of gig limit per file so it creates multiple files. If you use an editing software you can just put the files back to back on a timeline and it will look like it is one long video. If you do not have an editing system then it will not be possible to put the files together.

    Do you think Sony will ever give us 4k 60fps in APSC camera? I don't wanna go full frame 😫

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  Před 3 lety +1

      Kamil, that is a great questions. I am waiting for them to make a 4k 60fps APSC camera. It is the number on thing on my wish list. I really love the Sony a6400 but I would love to shoot in 4k and slow things down with the 60fps. Sure the Sony AS7III does it but it is much more expensive and the lens are so expensive. Hopefully the will in the future. Is that what you are waiting for?

    • @KK-VLOG
      @KK-VLOG Před 3 lety

      @@DavidDavies Yeah.. and it's not only about the price of a7s3 and ff lenses. I just like apsc.. my favourite lens is Sigma 18-35 1.8 which gives me a lot of flexibility when I need to work under pressure of time and there is no time to swap primes around. The ff equivalent has an external zoom and is much bigger so it makes your life harder on the gimbal. In my opinion full frame is great for photography but for filmmaking apsc / super 35 is the best convenience / cost / quality ratio. I'm considering switching to Fujifilm XT4 because it has apsc 10 bit 4k 60 fps.. but I don't want go through system changing again.. I just want Sony to make some "a7000" which is gonna be like a "baby a7s3" 4k 120 would be Nice since every cheap smartphone is shooting 4k 60 fps since like 10 years ago 🤣

  • @torinsall
    @torinsall Před 3 lety +1

    4k so you can crop in instead of doing retakes? But then ypu miss the fun of 20 takes for one segment. 🤣🤣😂 Seriously though, helpful video and fun to watch.

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  Před 2 lety +1

      Ha you comment made me laugh because just this morning I was doing a client shoot and the host took 34 takes to get the 30 second script done! I wanted to shoot in 4k to help things out but they didn't want that. BUT just because I shoot in 4k I still take way too many takes...lots of bloopers

    this is all cookie cutter advice. "a very unique shot" 7 million vloggers already did. use a tripod with just about the only camera that doesn't need a tripod. the old zoom-cut advice everybody does for some reason, the illusion that you're cutting to a second camera is long gone; might as well just jump-cut the wide footage. i'm not saying i do better, but every single point here is wrong in my opinion. i hope we move past these trends and this can be titled "how to make your footage into a stereotypical 2020 vlog" in a few years
