    It seems from what I have seen, the Pocket 2 can support livestreaming, right? Not sure how well it works to for example CZcams, but seems better than to have to screencast the whole smartphone display through CZcams mobile screencasting, streamlabs OBS or Mixer, or that $150 licence cosmostreamer + raspberry pi a+ setup, unsure if Pocket 1 can disable the on screen display settings stuff while livestreaming that way. I wish Pocket 2 had a dual wireless lav setup, single wireless is not usable for me, so I stick to my Blink 500 b2 setup for that (there is a new Blink500 Pro B2 that I am looking at).

    When you have the do-it-all-handle on, you can still slide the Pocket2 into the case, the handle will stick out, but it's designed that way. And there's a 1/4 thread on the case for mini-tripod, so you just carry the mini-tripod on the case.

    At about 11:20 it seems to be stated that the Pocket 1 didn't have a wifi adapter, which of course it did. So in terms of use with a phone, there's no significant difference between 1 & 2.
    Tracking is due for a firmware update very soon - indeed there's obvious problems with it at present. Also, the "High Quality" mode needs some attention - some find it lower quality overall than the "battery saver" setting.
    The tripod is mainly designed as a temporary stand to avoid topples - which happen easily with the form factor - it attaches to the case when not in active use - there are of course hundreds of mini tripods available which fold into a handle shape, but that's not easy to store as part of the cased kit.
    For me, the audio features of the Creator package version are the standout difference. As I've said elsewhere, you'd be hard put to it to find any camera at any price which addresses audio so comprehensively out of the box as the Pocket 2 Creator kit.
    Thanks for a comprehensive and well thought through survey!

      @@cameralabs Well Gordon, shockingly (to me), all of my Canon gear is going up for sale on eBay! I now own this little wonder, and a Panasonic FZ300/330 (of all things!), and once I update my smartphone I'll be all set. I think the days are numbered for ALL of the systems cameras on the market, except of course for professional use. Lugging all that gear around just doesn't make sense for most of us any more. 😎

    • @cameralabs
      @cameralabs  Před 3 lety +1

      @@patrickfitzgerald2861 I think there's also a market for hobbyists / enthusiasts who simply enjoy the form factor of system cameras, but I agree, they've become specialist things now.

      @@cameralabs It will be interesting to see just how much quality the manufacturers can wring out of these tiny sensors with new CPUs and software. The compromises they produce are already rather minimal, and getting less relevant to the final product every year. I mean geez, you can produce a usable, EDITED video right in the Pocket 2! How incredible is that! 😲

    You're aware that the tripod lies flat against the case when not in use, right? The outside of the case has a threaded tripod hole which is meant to store the tripod. The same case also holds the remote mic and the entire thing fits comfortably in your pocket, even when the do-it-all attachment is connected.

    honesly I think the audio without the wireless, when you are standing 5 or 6 feet away is GOOD, as good as wireless. of course, move away and you need the wireless...but for most i don't see the need for the do it all handle. You can interview people, get stereo sound from 4 inboard mics, and in general, get good audio without the do it all handle and a wireless mic. and it's only $350 US for the thing without the do it all handle. anyway, good review, thanks mate.

    The case for the pocket 2 allows use even with the do it all handle so a gimbal lock isn't needed also on the back of the case is a place to screw in and store the mimi tripod and the case is designed so you can put the wireless mic unit on the top of the pocket case.
    So imo you don't need any case or gimbal guard for the pocket 2.

      @KellySpore Před 3 lety +1

      I don’t own it yet, but I’ve seen loads of reviews and they did the same. Some said it can be confusing which way to put the Pocket in the case, maybe that’s why he had trouble putting it in the case. I’ve seen pockets with the do it all handle in the case too, and the tripod connected to the back of the case.

    • @ChrisNewham
      @ChrisNewham Před 3 lety +1

      @@KellySpore the pocket goes in the case either side up the only orientation to get correct is camera to the top. It's quite a good designed case imo.
      So far the only thing for me is i wish all the features of the do it all handle were just built into the main unit save faffin around with bits n bobs so I have taken to just keeping the do it all handle on full time.

      If you mean 30 is in fact 29.97 and 24 is 23.976, then yes that's normal. The only whole numbers in frame rates are the PAL ones, like 25 and 50, or true cinema 24. But the important thing is to match frame rates on a project and ensure the project frame rate is also the same.

    I'm new to the Pocket 2, having previously owned the original Osmo. I bought it back in November, but have only just got round to using it. The SD card that I bought was from Amazon and it's the SanDisk Extreme 128 GB microSDXC Memory Card + SD Adapter with A2 App Performance + Rescue Pro Deluxe, Up to 160 MB/s, Class 10, UHS-I, U3, V30. Because we've had snow here in the last few days, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally try it out. Getting home, I was extremely disappointed to see that, on my computer the footage is 'juddery', jerky and the picture breaks up. I have the Pocket 2 set to Pro mode and it was filming in 4K at 60fps. What am I doing wrong?Suggestions please?

      Do the files playback on the camera ok? It may be that your computer is not capable of handling 4k 60p, as it can be very demanding.

      @@cameralabs Thank you for the advice. I was actually wondering if it's the 4K 60fps that's causing the problem. You've possibly just confirmed it.

      @@luciferbox5577 it's more that 4k 60 generally uses the tougher H.265 compression system which is really hard for all but the newest computers to handle.

      @@cameralabs The files playback perfectly on the camera, so it would definitely appear to be my computer not being able to handle 4K video that’s the problem.

      @@luciferbox5577 it's probably capable of playing 4k but only in the older h.264 format and only up to 30fps. The hard part is playing anything encoded in h.265, which always includes 4k above 30p.

    7:06 [Sony ZV1] "Once you add an external microphone, it no longer fits in your pocket" -- You only have one pocket? Sorry, this sounds like the most contrived problem I have heard in a long time.

      Ben's point is about convenience - as soon as you start having to add accessories, the whole setup becomes bigger and slower. But I remain a fan of the ZV1 and for most situations - handheld vlogging aside - it's ideal.

    Great video. As a newbie how would I download the video to CZcams?

      You mean a video recorded with the camera? You could just remove the memory card and use it in a reader, or connect the camera to a computer with a USB cable
