- In today's video I show you some of my favourite cinematic gimbal moves for the DJI Osmo Pocket. I will go over some of the basic gimbal moves for this tiny little gimbal camera but I will also go out of the box with some very creative techniques. This is such an unique gimbal camera so sometimes you need some unique camera moves to get the most out of the camera. These tips will also work with the DJI Pocket 2.

“The holding in a fart walk” 🤣🤣🤣. I’m really going to have to remember that one. Brilliant 😁👍
Ya sorry about that 😀 but in my case it's kinda accurate.
Some great ideas in this vid, but you know the best advice I took was “ don’t worry about screwing up “ so true and glad to hear someone say it . It is a learning curve with new gear , I love my osmo but am still trying to get those wow shots and your tips are a great help. I am currently an expert on the screw ups though 😁. Love the fact that you make it fun 👍
Truly useful tips! Thank you Dave.
The " holding in n a fart walk" I'm with ya bro!
Ha I knew some would appreciate that. It's true right?
Thanks, found this great. Given me some awesome ideas and tips. I don't use mine as well as I could
Beautiful techniques, beautiful shots and beautiful children. Thanks, can't wait to practice some of these ideas.
This video was a lot of fun to make. I love shooting with the Osmo Pocket, but I do get bored sometimes so I like to think outside the box a bit. What about you? What are some of your favourite gimbal moves?
Thank you for the tips!
Love the advice
You have such great video tips! Thank you so much! I’m learning quite a bit. I haven’t started a lot of my own videos but soon enough i will. Thank you again for just the inspiration to just have fun with the creativity on making videos!
Glad you like it, thanks for the nice comments. It's a fun little camera. It's a bit odd so don't worry about screwing up at first, you'll get some great stuff after a while. Have fun.
thank you! great tips!
Great video..liked your idea of impro ising diy tools rather than spending on another piece of accessory.
Great video. Excited to try some of these this weekend.
thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. thanks for the nice comment.
I've seen so many gimbal videos but always learn something new. That pvc pipe/wood combo was excellent! Love the holding in a far walk too of course 😂
Thanks for the comment. The PVC pipe set up was a bit out there but it kinda worked. It looked weird. And ya sorry about the holding in my Fart walk!
Love this. I've watched 2 of your videos now and subscribed to your channel. Great ideas. I've just ordered the Osmo pocket. I love the shots of your kids especially your daughter with that look on her face. It made me laugh out loud when she finally caved in and smiled near the end. Great stuff. Thank you for all the tips.
Thanks Terry. Glad you enjoyed the video. My daughter was trying her best to be serious but she can never be too serious...which is great. Congrats on the Osmo Pocket, I hope you enjoy it.
Great video.. Thanks for sharing ❤️
I love shooting with my osmo pocket. Great video
Thank you Dave 👌
Thanks for watching
I think I might have to try putting my osmo mobile in my daughter's rollerskate 😁 I love your ingenuity
Awesome video!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏽☀
Thanks Carlette for the nice comment, I appreciate it.
Nicely explained! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Thanks Mark, I appreciate it.
I enjoyed every bit of this video especially your sense of humor. I think I’m going to start making good use of mine. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the kind comment. Good luck with your Osmo Pocket.
Red Arrow Media Thank you so much! Stay safe and blessed!
One of the best „how to cinematic moves“ Video i saw. Thank you for that Content.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It was a fun video to make.
Thanks! I learned a lot from your tips!
Glad to hear it Megan, if you have any questions just let me know
nice tips! thx from Brazil
"holding in a fart walk" gained an instant subscription!! Enjoyed your presentation of these ideas with my favourite device - the Osmo Pocket..😂
Pretty motivating
Buen vídeo, gracias.
Thanks for the video, you gave me great ideas for my next OP adventure :)
Thanks. I hope you don't look as silly as I did when I tried some of those moves 😀 Good luck.
Very interesting and useful tips.
Thanks for the tips. I haven't seen the Osmo Pocket used like that before. You were pretty brave on the roller blades. Oh and the "hold my fart" walk lol.
Ya I'm Canadian so I am pretty comfortable on the rollerblades. It's a horrible stereotype but in this case it's true. So far you are the only one to mention the Hold My Fart walk! Thanks for the comment
Thanks for this vidéo.
Amazing Work ✌️
It’s so creative
Thank you ✌🏼
Nice video!! I appreciate this tips.
Thank you.
I've enjoyed your videos. Thanks very much. This is not a Pocket 2 gimbal shot but... I see the option to turn key tones on or off. I don't even know what a key tone is, but should it be on or off? And if we go to PRO mode, how do you set white balance. No one talks about what all those numbers mean. Do I need a light meter? Thanks for any answers you can give me.
Great video
Thanks, Dave, brother! You're Awesome. Blessings to you and your family, man! :)
Thank you for the kind words
@@DavidDavies Very Welcome, my friend! 😉
what an amazing video my man, funny and educational
Hey thanks for the kind comment.
Great movement tips, i use a USBC to Apple cord to monitor my footage when I have it on a selfie stick
That's a great idea. I have a similar setup but with my android phone. It's a great option instead of the wireless adapter. Thanks for the comment.
Merci beaucoup ;)
Thanks bro! I used some of your tips in my videos.
Nice, glad to hear it. I will have to check out your videos.
nice vid! thanks for tips! :)
Thanks.
thanks to kids for helping you out!
Great tips!
Thank you
Nice vid. Do you mind elaborating more on "flash light shot" you mentioned at around 5:03 and maybe another vid to show how you did the inception shot at 5:13?thx
Hi there. The flash light shot was shot using a extension pole and I had the pocket horizontal. I will try to make a video on the inception shot, a few peoy have asked about that. Thanks for the comment.
Very good video l like 😊👍👍👍
How fun! I just made a tutorial on how to make an Atlanta transition! Osmo on a stick 👌 not much to eat 🤣
Cool I'll have to check out your video. My set up didn't exactly work out the way I wanted to but it turned out ok.
nice stuff Dave. I live in Ottawa also, have a Pocket 2 & Sony a6400 with a Zhiyun gimbal. P2 SO much easier, especially for travel. Tell me: do you also own a Mini 2 drone?
Hi Paul, nice to meet others from the area. Ya the Pocket 2 is so much easier. I love using my a6400 with the Ronin SC, it's light and gives me great results but it's much more difficult to use. I do own the Mavic Mini, I was going to upgrade to the Mini 2 but at this point I will wait for the Mini 3. I use the Mavic Mini along with the a6400 and Pocket 2 for my other CZcams channel, it's a camping channel an those cameras are great for filming outdoors.
great video! how do you lock the head of the camera to film straight?
Hey ED, you can lock the gimbal if you press and hold the right mode button. I don't normally lock the shot I just try to walk very smoothly.
Great video and tips! But can you share how you did the nice segment of your daughter on the bridge at 5’13”?
Hi Gerald, sorry I can't tell yoy my secret!!! Just kidding, yes just rotate the camera while holding it in flashlight mode. To be honest, it took me about ten tries to get a shot I was happy with. I also put it through a stabilizer on premiere pro.
How do I download the listing from the video I shot with Phuket2? I get a regular listing in the area of the translation. The subtitles say: F / 1/8, SS 198/62, ISO 100, EV 03 03 probably what I set in the camera.
What to do to download / stop the subtitle
What is the your settings on the gimbal?
Great video! I just picked up a z-axis case for my Pocket, let's you walk like normal and it's smooth as butter! Great ideas in this video! 😊
Thanks Jeremy. Let me know how the z axis works out for you.
@@DavidDavies It's amazing - a must-have in my book - no ninja fart walking needed :)
My wife is good with Osmo and uses a lot of these moves. If it was about 50% bigger it would work in my hands. It's just too small for me ... but is an extremely useful tool.
Thanks for the comment. Ya the Osmo Pocket is small, I'm okay with the size but it is hard to navigate with the tiny touch screen.
Really cool 👏 nice footage 👍🏻 the Osmo Pocket is really not bad👌 I finished actually my short river cruise film, nearly 100 % filmed with the OP 😀 filmmaking is my passion, best cinematic greetings from germany
Thanks for the comment. I'll have to check out your film. I subscribed awhile to your channel. The Osmo Pocket is such a great travel camera.
Red Arrow Media 👌 thanks 🙏 i subscribed awhile to your channel too 💪🏼 best cinematic greetings from germany
Hi from Cornwall.
action takes place inside a frame in video.
Did you use any nd filter during these shots or auto? What's your color profile as well?
Everything was shot in manual with an ND 32 Filter on it, except for any indoor shots. I shot in the basic color profile, not cinelike.
are you shooting at 24 fps by chance? I have the pocket 1 (not 2). I shot some footage with it in my home office with decent light in the room. I filmed at 24 fps, shutter 1/60 or 1/50, and when I do a simple pan and watch it back on the computer, it looks like theres a shutter speed issue. I can't figure out how to fix it at 24 fps so I just shoot at 48 fps and conform it to 23.98 in post. (which causes some vague shutter issues). what a pain the butt. any advice?
I shoot everything in 24 fps unless I plan to slow it down then I shoot in a higher frame rate. If you have your shutter at 1/50 you should be good, the motion blur should be perfect. What are you using to watch the video back on? Perhaps it is not playing it at 24 fps?
@@DavidDavies"If you have your shutter at 1/50 you should be good," its not though. it looks like garbage. im professional video editor. I can say that with confidence. I've shared my videos with other emmy award winning video editors and they can see the "judder" too. dji customer support assures me that this phenomenon that i'm describing is normal. which i find infuriating. I'm watching my dji footage on a 5 thousand dollar imac desktop on Adobe Premiere.
What settings you using? Fps? Lighting?
I shoot mostly in 4k 60 fps. If I am just talking on camera I'll shoot 4k 24 fps. I like to slow down my 4k 60fps footage. As far as lighting goes I try to use natural light when possible.
Are you color grading these shots? Or are these colors straight out of the camera?
Some of them are colour graded, mostly to correct my white balance :) and I like to add a bit of contrast and saturation to the shots.
Red Arrow Media do film in the d-cinelike mode? I think that’s what they call it.
The quality of the video is impressive. I’ve got an osmo pocket but don’t use it much because my color doesn’t look as good as what you have here.
@@davewingler2934 I have used cine-like but not in this video. Cine-like can be great if you are comfortable using colour grading, if not I suggest you just use the colour profile. If you get the white balance correct and the exposure correct you can get really good looking footage. Good luck.
Nothing wrong with the “holding in a fart shot“. Just as long as it’s not holding in a SHART Shot.... then we have trouble. 👍🏻
Thanks Mike for taking my joke to a whole new level!
That would then become a really, really fast time lapse. :)
1:48 good video but the motion blur honestly makes everything in the video so hard to even make out it hurts the eyes
I wish you showed how you were holding gimbal as opposed to describing it.
01: 43 not focusing
You should be okay with being weird. Why be “Normal?”
That's what I tell my kids!
