We watched the programme on BBC Alba last night, May 14, and it was excellent and such a range of styles from musicians known to us and some I did not know like Rodrigo and Gabriela in Mexico. I'm Australian with the vast majority of my ancestry being Scot, in a way i feel like i'm connecting with ancestor's when i listen to this, i feel like i'm coming home.
I love hearing this in the beautiful Scot Gaelic. It makes me want to return to my ancestral lands where this Celt woman's heart can soar in the Highland mist.

I too would love to learn Gaelic. The conundrum, however, is which form of Gaelic to learn? Gaidhlig (Scots Gaelic), or Gaelige (Irish Gaelic)? I'm torn because a good bit of my ancestry comes from the Highlands of Scotland and Ireland. While they are related languages, they are not the same and not necessarily mutually intelligible. And then there is the problem of not having a practical use for either language, as I don't live in the Highlands or in Ireland or Nova Scotia, for that matter. In any case, I never get tired of listening to this version of Blackbird. It's truly beautiful and even outdoes the original.
