Well, the ladies of Celtic Woman also sing beautifully in English here, not only Gaelic. For example: "Tell me that the night is long/Tell me that the moon is glowing/Fill my glass and sing a song/And we'll start the music flowing/Never mind the rising light, there is no sign of day or dawning/In my heart, it's still the night, and we'll stay until the morning/Fill the glasses one more time, and never heed the empty bottle/Turn the water into wine, and turn the party up full time!" No. I will not shut up! Do not be childish! I'm referring to this video, and I've never seen a performance of this group that does not have playback. If you saw it, that's good for you!
TheOne WhoWelds I wouldn’t call Lindsey Stirling a moving violinist but more of a walking violinist. How come ? I watch her music videos and whilst she’s good, she mostly walks, runs, and turns around whilst Máiréad dances across the stage in high heels. If both Lindsay and Máiréad are performing on the same stage at the same time, Máiréad would certainly outdance and outperform Lindsey. Lindsey is talented but she is definitely not on Máiréad’s level. Even experts say that Máiréad’s skill is so perfect that she makes Lindsey seem amateurish.
@@coffeepot13 that is what is called talent. when I play my fiddle, I can hold my own, but I am still playing notes. Mairead is my favourite, she's always looks like she's having the time of her life playing the fiddle and in a way she reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth with that bright smile and her frame. Also, she's amazing on the fiddle, like really incredible.
Lots of people in the comments mention how skilled the violinist is, playing so spot on while dancing. Which is true but don't forget, shes also doing it in heels...
I absolutely love how different other cultures are compared to mine. People are trying to close the 'differences' and 'gap', but they're forgetting just how beautiful those differences are. That's Mairead (rhymes with "parade") Nesbitt. At one tour performance she did make a dead-reckoning error and step off the stage. Every country has some dark history, but don't let it discourage you from acknowledging the good in your culture as well❤
The 1 w/ dark hair in the brown dress is stunning! And the blonde 1 playing the violin is cute, she reminds me of a fairy flitting all over the place playing her music 😊

It's possible that the modern idiom came in translation, if it was an old gaelic song. Translating songs & poems you always have a difficult choice to make between capturing the exact meaning of the original & finding something that's near enough that'll preserve the rhyme & rhythm of the original. Personally I wouldn't sweat about it, if the line scans & you know what's meant by it.

These days, it seems many English words can't be translated into English either. However, this looks like it's not just translation but a reworking built on the original foundation. That's fine, many songs are reworkings for the same reason stories are - one foot in the past, one in the present gives you a depth you'd not otherwise have. Modern Shakespere substitutes a lot of material that wouldn't work with a modern audience even if they could understand the language. Lord of the Rings is a reworking of an ancient Finnish story. I would say this is a superb retelling (resinging?), I think they got the balance right.
I'm sorry but...Lindsey Sterling who? This girl takes fiddling and dancing to a whole new level. I will forever and always love Celtic Woman. Their music and voices are a siren song to my Irish blood😁
I am honestly in awe of the violinist. How on earth is she remembering the music, dancing without falling over and remembering the choreography? - all while wearing high heels and a smile? OH my God....
Banshun If it's not to their tastes, then they should've just gone to a new page. I mean, if you like this kind of music and didn't like this, then okay, dislike it, but i'm not sure who would like this kind of music and not like this.
Yeah, to people like me, it really just seems wrong in terms of the law. These women are unrivaled and unmatchable. Though, I unfortunately know a few that like rap and heavy metal more. -_-
I think it's a combinations of accidents, technical problems where the video doesn't play for them, jerks that are working through youtube marking everything dislike and a few haters that can't appreciate anything but their own brand of music. Total it runs between 1 and 2 percent of the likes on every youtube video I've every seen.

A lot of people complain in the comments on several of the videos that the ladies are miming the songs. And I say to that: Screw it. I wouldn't give a damn if they did. I'd be happy just seeing these angels in real life if I could go to one of their live shows
These members were the best. What happened to them now? Wrinkled? I saw them about 10 years ago at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Nothing lasts forever. So does our earth, solar system, even the Universe. What stays forever, is our own memory, like this video.
@Jeannie Funny you say that! I don't know how old you are, but do you remember that time in the mid/late 90s when Charlotte Church was the latest hotness? (By which I mean, the most popular thing/person at the time.) Your comment reminded me of that, because when Miss Charlotte was popular, everyone said she had "a voice of an angel" (PBS even aired a concert that was titled "Charlotte Church: Voice of an Angel")! Folx were losing their minds, all because Charlotte could sing soprano! 😂😂😂
This is my absolute favorite song by them. They look like they are actually having fun! The melody is fun, and the DRESSES!!! I so want one of them. Long live Celtic Woman!!
God as my witness, Chloe Agnew was just as gorgeous then as she is now. I will never understand why no man on this earth has been able to put a ring on her finger yet. I would gladly volunteer as tribute 🫡❤️🔥
I still can't. Took a break unintentionally as other stuff in life happens and got into other artists and genres. Got into it more the last 3 or so years and somewhat regretting not following it since walking in the air haha. I wish heaven has this kind of music and dancing because WOW
Anyone else picturing elves weaving enchantment around an inn as they sing this song? I'm picturing them walking out after the "day" has risen, to find a century or more has passed between sunset and sunrise.
Am I the only one to notice that the brunette with the short hair in the backup choir totally dropped the ball on the dance steps in this song? All the other members of the choir are having a great time, giving it their all and she is just standing there. And then there is Lisa Kelly's sister who is giving it 110%, everything she has got and doing an incredible job. These ladies are wonderful!

No.
Máiréad, plays music. is there a back up orchestra? of course, they play through the whole concert. you have only to watch her many videos, both with Celtic woman, and without. she has a very rare, God given talent, very few have.
Irish music is just fantastic! Irish people, your Celtic culture and your music is just magical! Your music has fascinated me since childhood. Thank you for such a miracle. Hello from Armenia!
Yes!! I love it
wtf?
Alexander Snow What wtf???
Sorry J Smith, Irish music is amazing, I was shocked by the EVIE QUEEN OF COSPLAY's logic path. "I'm almost Irish because I'm British." That's like saying I'm almost a Cherokee Indan because I'm American, or I'm almost Egyptian because I'm Jewish.
EVIE QUEEN OF COSPLAY, there are so many fallacies in your two statements it would be useless to point them out. Also, grammar saves lives.

My mom and I came to a concert in Lafayette, IN and I got to meet all of the girls, even signing a CD, which I gave to my mom. She passed in 2015, but every time I hear certain songs, it makes me think of her. Thank you for the memories. It's all I have left of my family now.
Touched by this comment. My mom showed me the original Celtic Woman DVD for the first time after I listened to their CD and I think she had gone to a concert of theirs at the louisville palace with my grandma and her friend. Grandma passed in 2020 right before all the crazy and I just went to see them with mom dad and my sister. I wish Grandma had been there to see them even with a totally different cast but I also know she's dancing like Mairead in heaven right now.

Mairead is my favourite, she's always looks like she's having the time of her life playing the fiddle and in a way she reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth with that bright smile and her frame. Also, she's amazing on the fiddle, like really incredible.
Ah, she does. Same teeth. And same fountain of youth in her back yard. Ageless.
Music at it's best. English, scots and Welsh don't come anywhere near! Even God and his kid stop to listen. 5 Angles!
I see Ireland hasn't given up its cultural traditions!! I love the dancing and the music!
they didn't give them up. The traditions, the culture, the language was forced out by the English invaders over about 600 years.
They are giving them up now due to globalism and ugly immigrants infecting Hyperborea
The ladies of Celtic Woman are all unprecedented beauties
Lots of people in the comments mention how skilled the violinist is, playing so spot on while dancing. Which is true but don't forget, shes also doing it in heels...
I absolutely love how different other cultures are compared to mine.
People are trying to close the 'differences' and 'gap', but they're forgetting just how beautiful those differences are. Because of our differences I can now experience music that is completely different to Persian (my own heritage) Greek, Scandinavian, etc..
Because globalists want to destroy cultures..
can you give me an example of nice Persian folk (or not) music? I am really interested in Persian culture but don't know much music.

this is the best line-up Celtic Women will ever have. I hope these girls will get together from time to time to do more.
MikeyBigWheel I think the original line up was the best, just my opinion though.
I believe the original four were the best female vocal group ever assembled . However these ladies are an extremely close second ! I also believe these ladies and Meav and Orla were the best vocalists ever to sing as Celtic Woman.

Ive been listening to this song for at least the last 6 months, my son (4) loves them and asks to hear them and I just realized I wasn't even subscribed to their channel. Fixed that right away💚🖤
same why wasn't I subscribed already lol
The elegance, grace and class of these women.... Amazing
their music is so enchanting. I'm not even Irish so I don't understand the Gaelic parts, but those voices are angelic and of course the violin is amazing
Actually a lot of Irish people don’t know or speak Irish Gaelic
I am Irish although my mom disproves of my Wiccan culture, she is very much Christian, she isn’t as much Irish as i am either, my father is very very Irish, i love listening to my roots and even dancing to it. It makes my day. I love this group to and would love to see them if they are still together!
So singt man und tanzt man für eigene Land ❤...❤

The lady in the redish dress is super cute!
This Celtic Woman concert is one of the best performances I have seen. The venue, musicians , choreography and Celtic Woman. all pure perfection.
The lady playing the fiddle is so carefree with her movement on that small part of the stage and I am always thinking oh my goodness I hope she does not misstep off that stage. But she is fantastic, well they all are. And I love the percussionist!
That's Mairead (rhymes with "parade") Nesbitt. At one tour performance she did make a dead-reckoning error and step off the stage. Fortunately, she wasn't injured, and neither was her 300-year-old instrument. No, not a strad; it was made by Mattias Alban, about 100 miles from where Stradivari worked.
My moms side of the family is Irish American and this made me cry 😢
I love this I live in a village in Gaillimh were we speak irish
No nudity no foul language no booty dance...just pure melody and 100% class

Beautiful women and beautiful music. That one women in the red dress really proves that you don't have to be crazy thin to be attractive. Fantastic group :)

I’m only part Irish, but I feel such great pride to share even a part of my heritage with such a great group of people with excellent music. Celtic women definitely have a way of reaching the soul, they really do.
As far as i know, i have no irish blood (just English, dutch and 1/16 jewish) and it makes me so sad 😭 every day i wake up and wish i was born somewhere with a culture i could be proud of
@@nospoonfulofmayonnaiseforme you can still be proud of your heritage, regardless of where you came from. I'm German, Irish and Italian and I honor all 3 ethnicities within me in my own ways. And as far as English goes, there's a LOT of English history that is proud in its own right, considering Norman lineage that came over from France in 1066. Never be ashamed of where you come from. Every country has some dark history, but don't let it discourage you from acknowledging the good in your culture as well❤
As far as I’m concerned, all I have is English, Irish, German, Czech, Danish, Basque, French, Cherokee Indian.

All the women onstage are so beautiful.
Mairead truly is a treasure
Does anyone else absolutely love those dresses! They're perfect!
The formal gowns that they wear in the rest of the show are spectacular, but these ceili dresses were made to be hugged. Look up "At the Ceili" and "Teir Abhaile Riu." That last one has a really mind-blowing bit of choreography.
Steve Rush yes! I love those! Both the dresses and the songs :D
Mairead's dress is absolutely GORGEOUS! 😍
I love this group! beautiful, talented women who proove that you don´t have to be half-naked (or size zero) to capture the audience, just incredible voices. which is why they´ll still be here when Gaga+co are long forgotten.

@@jamesmacoisdealbhaigh9904 My surname isn't Celtic, but my great, great grandfather was Irish, emigrated to the US, served in the Civil War (Gettysburg, Battle of Fairfield), nearly died saving the Union standard from falling into the arms of the Confederacy, was awarded the Medal of Honor as a result, and has a bridge named after him in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, where he lived. I have the French surname of my grandfather, not the Irish one of my grandmother. Oh, and I have Scottish ancestry too; but you wouldn't know that by my French surname. It feels like Celtic Women would be a better name
You can tell the song is 200 years old because of lines like "Turn the party up full-throttle".
...lol.. You sly subtle thing..
there IS such a thing as MODERN CELTIC music.
if you think the Irish havent written anything in 200 years, youre just a fool.
Here's the original Irish, if you want it:
Chuaigh mé isteach i dteach aréir

These days, it seems many English words can't be translated into English either. However, this looks like it's not just translation but a reworking built on the original foundation. That's fine, many songs are reworkings for the same reason stories are - one foot in the past, one in the present gives you a depth you'd not otherwise have.
Modern Shakespere substitutes a lot of material that wouldn't work with a modern audience even if they could understand the language. Lord of the Rings is a reworking of an ancient Finnish story.
I would say this is a superb retelling (resinging?), I think they got the balance right.
How can a girl be so unbelivable perfect like that violinist?
Everything o her is perfect. She must be a direct descendant of Adam & Eve^^
Like... everybody is? (At least, if one believes in the Genesis creation story.)
These women would devour any man in no time.
I'm sorry but...Lindsey Sterling who? This girl takes fiddling and dancing to a whole new level. I will forever and always love Celtic Woman. Their music and voices are a siren song to my Irish blood😁
One thing I love about Celtic women is the fact that their songs are awesome in studio or live
I am honestly in awe of the violinist. How on earth is she remembering the music, dancing without falling over and remembering the choreography? - all while wearing high heels and a smile? OH my God....
Because " she" is Mairead Nesbit...violinist extraordinaire !!! The one that inspired many today and many of tomorrow!!!

my dear Lindsey Stirling, you are indeed talented, but Mairead is the true master of dancing and playing.

Though, I unfortunately know a few that like rap and heavy metal more. -_-
they shoul be crazy... or don`t know what amazing music is.
I think it's a combinations of accidents, technical problems where the video doesn't play for them, jerks that are working through youtube marking everything dislike and a few haters that can't appreciate anything but their own brand of music. Total it runs between 1 and 2 percent of the likes on every youtube video I've every seen.
Irish music is so inspiring that it crossed the Atlantic and became part of the American music culture. It is the best.
Chloe Agnew of The Original Group Celtic Woman is always my favorite. Where are you Chloe that voice deserved to be heard by the world.
On 5 August 2013, the Celtic Woman website announced that Agnew would be taking a break from Celtic Woman to focus on solo projects. Her position was filled by Derry-born singer Máiréad Carlin.
After leaving Celtic Woman, she was chosen to be the special guest of the Celtic Thunder cruise. She, along with former Celtic Thunder member Paul Byrom, was also a special guest of Lisa Kelly's concerts called The Voice of Ireland and A Celtic Christmas. Agnew was also part of Ethan Bortnick's concert with another former Celtic Thunder member Damian McGinty.

Love them all but Chloe Agnew has the voice of the angels.
The angels wish they could sing that well.
guy in "chumachechaya vesna" has voice of angels
Jeannie Ramberg and the face, and the body.
Kevin Hosford the actual songs of angels far exceed these women.
I missed the old line up and music director. The new generation is also good. However, this gives the nostalgia and mystical atmosphere.
While they are all fantastic, I miss the beautiful ginger girl they had. Loved her eyes.
I just stare at Alex eyes, her face is so beautiful, and her lovely voice,, I think I'm in love.
This is my absolute favorite song by them. They look like they are actually having fun! The melody is fun, and the DRESSES!!! I so want one of them. Long live Celtic Woman!!

I still can't. Took a break unintentionally as other stuff in life happens and got into other artists and genres. Got into it more the last 3 or so years and somewhat regretting not following it since walking in the air haha. I wish heaven has this kind of music and dancing because WOW
