    Dude, I did this to my CX's. It was an absolute chore. I had to use a 5lb sledge and a 2x4.

      Yeah you’re right. You’ve got to use some force when you hit it. Definitely important to protect the threads with the nut and then whack it.

    Great video, i tried to flip the Carver CX kingpin but felt afraid to hurt it by hammering too hard, so i did not insist more. Your solution to place the knut before hammering on a solid raw floor makes certainly a decisive difference.

      Yeah, and I like the rubber mallet as well. I’ve done this a bunch without any issue. It’s funny. Sometimes I’ve had to hit pretty hard to get it to pop out! But not always. Sometimes a new cx kingpin comes out easily😊

    To solve the nut falling off under the trucks when the kingpin is reversed, maybe it could be glued to the underside of the truck with a few dabs of silicone caulk or epoxy glue? That way when you remove the kingpin bolt the nut will stay in place, and the trucks wouldn't have to be removed for bushing maintenance.
    Before installing the nut on the bolt, a few dabs of silicone caulk on the underside of the nut, and then tighten it down is what I'm thinking would work.

      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 2 měsíci +1

      That’s an idea for sure! It would save maintenance time. The only problem I see with this is that when tightening the kingpin back down, you can’t visualize the threads and therefore you’d be relying solely on guesswork/feel (no way I’d be able to blindly feel) as to how tight the nut is.
      I am someone who depends on looking at the threads barely coming out of the kingpin nut to determine if I’ve tightened it enough and even with gluing I’d need to remove the truck assembly entirely to visualize.
      Skate companies like Slappy and GrindKing have made Allen Key kingpins to mitigate the kingpin issue. I think this is the way to go

      @@nateross14 which in hindsight. They basically just invert the kingpin 🤣
      The problem lives on. But I’m not sure what lives under the baseplate in these designs because I havent looked.

    Show us to reverse the CX because the C5 it's looks so easy

    • @user-if2zr7rw4x
      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 2 měsíci +1

      I found it to be the exact same process for my CX. Were you using a concrete floor to hammer on? You have to hit it hard but it shouldn’t be any different than I showed with the C5

  • @jonniekatt
    @jonniekatt Před měsícem +1

    I wonder if you can adapt it to have something to grab for adjustment, It has a hole on top….. a little Dremel work or add tread to the hold

  • @johnthomas2877
    @johnthomas2877 Před 2 měsíci +1

    A trick to help give your front carver cx a little more grind clearance is to add a low angled wedge under the baseplate. This tilts the truck shifting the grind surface away from the kingpin. 😅

    • @SurfskateLove
      @SurfskateLove  Před 2 měsíci

      But also changes the geometry of the truck.

  • @jonniekatt
    @jonniekatt Před měsícem +1

    Probably add a little tread lock too just because you can see if it is coming loose?

    • @user-if2zr7rw4x
      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 20 dny

      Yeah the tread lock is a good idea. The c5 and cx trucks in this video have had no problem. But on my second set of cx trucks, I flipped the kingpin and the nut just doesn’t want to stay on. So I got some tread lock

    Hi David, one question about your bushings please : is it Riptide 92,5 front and rear ? Did you play with others Riptide bushings duro on Carver CX ? I would be happy to have your feedback about your bushings choice. I use 87,5a for pumptrack and park, i may be interested to go through 90a, and maybe 92,5 rear and 90 front. I'm 69kg. My park skills are not launching me on the copping as you do :) but i go faster than before in my carves in park and pumptrack.

      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 20 dny +1

      Yo! I’m actually in the process of playing with bushings. What I’m learning is it’s a CRAZY game.
      A decks wheel base is just as susceptible to changing the way a board moves and turns as the bushings are. I’ve been mixing and matching bushings and wheel bases.
      For my carver c5 skatepark setup, I’m about to combine some 87.5 and 90a riptides on a 15.7 inch WB. Because right now I still have these 92.5s on the 15.7 WB and it feels stiff.
      Which the stiffness provides stability and makes tricks easier. BUT compared to my lively surfskate setups that have lots of range of motion, it’s starting to feel “dead”
      IE it just doesn’t move and turn much.
      But I’ve been playing with C5 because it’s measurably lower and lighter than the cx and I’ve been wanting to learn some again.
      I could go on forever😂. It’s a crazy game but THAT right there is so much of the fun! Drastically changing your setup with some different wheels. Or different bushings. Or a different deck with a different wheelbase or flex properties (I ❤ Soulboardiy)

      @MrConfo Před 20 dny

      @@user-if2zr7rw4x Thanks David. On Soulboardiy Meda 34" + CX, i've moved to Riptide 92,5a rear and 90a front, much appreciate for pumptrack and skatepark, i win stability and speed without sacrificing too many turning radius, i mean it can turns as short as i need if i'm correct in my move. Surprisingly with my 69 kg, 92,5a rear is not too stiff on rear. On 48" longboard with CX, i use 90a rear and 87,5a front, it's great but i won't hesitate to go a bit harder in front. This set up will move soon on a Tavarua 38 (similar size and shape as Yow Byron 38).

    after tapping to release the kingpin, yours comes out completely easily without forcing. I did the same and he is completely stuck in intermediate position, right in the middle 😭
    I can neither put it back in nor take it out, any solution? 🙏

    • @user-if2zr7rw4x
      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 20 dny

      Yikes 😱. I’ve done this a bunch and never seen that. There’s not really a binding mechanism that keeps it in… are you tapping it out at an angle that is in line with the direction of the kingpin?
      The kingpin slides in and out at about a 10 degree angle so if you hit straight down it doesn’t work well. Rather tap in the direction the kingpin is pointing. Hope this helps!!!!
