    Hey one thing I didn't notice in your selection (even in the boards in back), was Revenge trucks. I have ridden Revenge trucks for years, and am thinking about getting a Waterborne adapter to use with them. But I also know that Revenge is kinda a dated tech? (Or maybe it's just proven?) but I get a lot of people asking me about my Revenge trucks, and they are often surprised at how turny they are. And I'm curious what your own opinion of them is compared to other surf skate trucks. Thanks!

    Great video, thanks for taking the time to geek out about all of that! Can I ask your height/weight? I measured my stance on a goof balance board and it’s about the same as yours, 18”. I also had my eye on a few carvers and the proteus was one of them. Which trucks did you go with and which length deck? Looks like the CX on all your options. Is that right? If so why CX over C7? What size would you do in CX or the C7 for your own? Thanks again!

      @@SurfskateLove thats not how it goes pops. I grew up in the 90's we made what we had , now days people order on the internet. I'm the generation that used to build what we had . trade trucks , get a new board and gibe the old to someone else . Not everyone will just burn 10k in boards just to find common knowledge he could know by going to a skatepark and ask around. 😉 Let that sink. I'm currently researching to make my own press and start making my own boards . old school style. I'm not gonna give Those vultures 200-400 bucks for something that costs at least 50. are you kidding me. we used to get a complete with tops 100$ now days that's not even enough for wheels and burrings. Which in most cases are made in the same factory in China. where you can buy the same product unbranded for less than half of the price 🤣🤣🤣

    You helped me big time with bowl carving - now this - my flat pumping has improved big time as well. I have my Arbor Rally with Paris V2 180mm trucks - quite wide for the board and am riding them fairly loose - they are stable don’t think I want to go down the carver trucks route, but do they make a significant difference?

      I’ve not had the privilege of riding any trucks made by Paris yet so I can’t compare. In this video I’m riding a Meraki S5. But I think all of these trucks are significantly different from one another. But if you’re cruising on Paris trucks, my guess is all these maneuvers are reasonably feasible!

I’ve loosened up the trucks up a good bit which seems to help. I turned 60 this year but this is going to be great cardio for me. Thanks for all the help. I l

    Love Carver trucks, both varieties. Before I got into surfskating I was a bit scared of longboards because of the speed, as I face my sixtieth birthday. Surfskating lets me ride a board in a way I feel I can control, whizzing around on the flat in an expressive way. Tumbles aren’t bad and the workout is whole body!! For a greybeard I’ve managed to get a respectably ripped body.

      @user-if2zr7rw4x Před 18 dny

      I’m not totally sure because I’ve learned to ride and subsequently done all of my riding alone, so I don’t exactly know how to compare. I will say this: I’ve watched a lot of videos talking about surfskate pumping that emphasize the front foot for pumping. When I want to sustain speeds of 10-12mph, I use my back foot just as mush as my front foot. I’m almost doing an opposite opposing motion with my back leg and I generate more speed.

  • @rageburst
    @rageburst Před 18 dny

    Having multiple boards does help depending on what kind of experience you're looking, the place you're going to skate, and even the weather. The important thing is that you're not creating a useless board that won't see the light of day.

    Thanks for your vid! For some reason I really struggle with backside 180° powerslides riding surfskates even though throwing in bs *360°* powerslides on flatground and in transitions had been a go-to maneuvre of choice for me back when I was still riding "classic" skateboard.. It's been more than a decade since I quit due to a broken wrist and limited myself to cruising which would eventually bring me to surfskating in the years since - until recently when I couldn't resist to drop into a freshly finished miniramp with my battleship of a surfskate which would lead to rock to fakies and 50-50s even though I've been out for years and was riding an unsuited setup (a 32.5" by 10" _YOW "Snappers"_ with Hydroponic's_ 'Carver CX style' trucks and _Retro Wheels' 65mm "ErnieZ" I had specifically equipped with a hybrid truck system so it would be a little less sketchy rolling fakie - to no avail as far as it applies to skating transition as I came to find 😅) and given that I'm somehow 37 years of age at this point I was incredibly stocked because I never would have possibly expected being capable to pull off somewhat solid runs with various basic tricks still dialed in under conditions like this when I wouldn't have expected to ever drop into a ramp again the very same morning! The next day I purchased what's needed for a classic popsicle setup besides a pair of trucks I had still laying around - because I've actually learned from my broken wrist for once I had pads and wristguards for more aggressive surfskating stuff already and a few days ago I made my final purchase after it had occured to me that I was at this point indeed _old enough to wear a helmet_ - so now I can take full advantage of the fact that a ten minute walk from my place there's a former inner city airport which had been shut down and opened to the public as a unique park of sorts 15 years ago where a legitimate surfskate scene has developed at a site where the asphalt is particularly smooth so all sorts of rolling sports enthusiasts are gathering there (with exception of the land-kiters to whom one of two legitimate former runways is dedicated - quite possibly the only place worldwide where you regularly can and are permitted to land-kite within the inner city districts of a major metropole) all while a three minute walk across the former airfield you can find a dedicated _streetskating plaza_ which had gotten accompanied by both a smaller as well as a quite large wooden miniramp, all accessible for free. 😁 I hope to revive my transition skating and hope to achieve some carry-over for my surfskating in exchange, just as I hope to now profit of my surfskating when skating ramps because in the meantime me working sufficiently with my center of gravity has become way better internalized thanks to "aggressive flatground surfskating" in recent years as I came to realize on said occasion when trying a miniramp with a surfskate after years of hiatus, rolling out sketchy situations which would have buried my face in the ramp's flat back in the day simply because now I would hold myself lower, instinctivly lowering myself even further into an outright crouched position going back down the ramp so the board would essencially slide following my center of gravity instead of shooting off into some random direction opposite of mine.. Sorry for being so verbise but I'm euphoric about all things skateboarding related as I haven't been since teenage days while being as motivated as never before and particularly not back then - I even got addicted to fingerboarding again after coming across an old setup from the 2000's when cleaning up. I looked into it, went to one of only four or five dedicated fingerboard stores worldwide which is coincidentally located around here as well in order to get a modern setup after the scene had developed immensely in the underground after the late 90' s fad had ceased and decks had gotten wider in comparison to the professional fingerboard decks in my days. Today you not only have real 5-ply hardwood decks and urethane wheels with legitimate ball bearings but a whole range of professional quality trucks to pick from - and a vibrant scene of practitioners who in the huge majority of cases are skateboarders most and foremost with fingerboarding just being a fun extension of the wider skateboarding culture, with numerous large wooden or concrete fingerboard parks and international visitors Guess in combination it all hints towards me entering the infamous _Midlife Crisis_ - but if it shows this way instead of turnig me into a creep driving a too expensive cabriolet or a part-time rocker atop a seat-heated stock Harley I'm all here for it! 🛹🤘

    Steve I love your videos so much, it inspired me to get a surf skate. I was lucky to acquire a Carver 33 inch board with C7 trucks. I really felt like I was getting the flow down when it jackknifed on me. I'm not entirely sure why, I believe I was going too slow and my front foot crept too far forward. Now I am very concerned about wheel biting and jack knifing on this thing. I tightened it up a bit but now it still feels kinda sketchy but doesn't pump nicely anymore lol. If you have any info or a place to point me for different bushing set ups, or how to exactly dial in a C7 to avoid jack knifing, that would be amazing

I think the rear truck feel Ace is talking about is due to the geometry of the C2 rear truck having the axle so far behind the pivot axis point which creates a bit of a trailing castor wheel effect that makes it turn sooner and sharper when first starting to turn. I've ridden one on the rear and to me it feels like my rear foot is turning too much and coming out from under me a bit. I much prefer the feel of an RKP truck on the rear so I'm going to try running a C7 on the front and Paris type RKP on the rear and see how that feels.
